Exactly. I upgrade my iPhone every 4 years or so so I rather wait a year and have a phone that works with my iPad and MacBook charger and cables. No USB-C. No sale.
My 11 pro is perfectly capable to last another year.

In reality, the "black spot" is still a black spot with the marketing scheme of calling it the dynamic island. It's a software hack. The black spot just enlarges to display some other information next to the standard black spot where the camera and sensors are located. Guaranteed they could activate that same capability via IOS for prior iPhones, but they won't because it would eat into iPhone 14 sales. Apple, for all their chest beating about their advances, are really behind the power curve on meaningful advances like under display sensors, under display biometrics, foldable formats, etc.
Instead, they come up with marketing buzzwords to make simple changes sound like impressive advances. They change the color and try to convince us this is a big deal. They change the size and position of sensors and buttons to force you to buy a new case. It's crazy. Their marketing hype is getting old and its time for them to fish or cut bait on the same old iPhone platform and do something pivotal to truly advance the product. Until then, I'm holding onto my iPhone 13. (...for the record, I've purchased every prior model year iPhone to date starting with the original iPhone. But as mentioned above, that now ends. I'm done filling their coffers and rewarding them for incremental, minor changes).
It’s all about transfer speed for me. I can’t do lightning speeds anymore.Exactly. I upgrade my iPhone every 4 years or so so I rather wait a year and have a phone that works with my iPad and MacBook charger and cables.

I am not angry with or at Apple. I am simply stating a point and my opinion about the lack of true technological improvements with the later versions of their product. End of story.Of course they could put it on prior iPhones…but then with the notch above it which does nothing, now it’s nearly in the center on the screen. Stop being so angry about nothing. In terms of practicality it makes more sense with the current design unless you want some floating live multitask bar BELOW the notch hanging on your screen. Think seriously. Glad you don’t design the iOS UI because that would be absolutely hideous with the peninsula notch.
Foldable phones are still currently trash and nothing more than a proof of concept gone live fyi. They lack durability, have a crease and lord knows how long the lifespan is because people don’t buy them.
You’ve owned every iPhone but complain about this one? You seriously think the iPhone 12 was a great upgrade / purchase? LiDAR, true innovation that year. I agree that there’s been more incremental upgrades year to year lately…but that’s simply because the smartphone/touchscreen/slab design has matured. If you really think we’ll get the same jumps we have had since the technology advances of 2007-2017 your expectations will be continuously let down. The marketing buzzword is cringeworthy, but they were going to call it something. No offense but it sounds like you’re just trolling.

Sorry to say but you seem to be the angry one in this forum. If anyone challenges your self important opinions you feel compelled to respond with emotionally charged blather. Go easy big fella....it's a forum where differing opinions are meant to be shared, not just yours.
I dont understand the fuss about USB-C. Unless they open up the transfer speeds or charging speed its not a big issue, its not like one doesn’t have a lighting cable.Exactly. I do have a lighting cable. I even have 10 or so. I just don’t want to think about multiple cables and have 1 charger for everything.I dont understand the fuss about USB-C. Unless they open up the transfer speeds or charging speed its not a big issue, its not like one doesn’t have a lighting cable.
Apple likes to annoy app developer which now are able to get their notch-compatible apps reviewed, DI will be next level challengePill and hole-punch is stupid. Keep the Notch (as bad as it is), until you are able to put all of that behind the screen.
Some significant improvements. Always on Display, the new dynamic island and a much better camera. Should be good enough to upgrade from 13 Pro to 14 Pro.
Well, the DI pill interferes with watching movies and YouTube unless it is 16.9. Any larger and you see half of the pill on your video. My son watches YouTube videos from his favorite game streamers and he said there is no way he would get the 14 Pro/Max just because of that. Also if you like to screen record, the pill gets recorded as well.Or you could have a black spot that does nothing. I don't really see the complaint with the "dynamic island" it's a quick access to your recent app instead of having to go into tile view and it displays information you wouldn't see..unless you swap apps. What's the issue here really? Just seems like a complaint to justify not purchasing the product and feeling better about your current device. When I say you, I mean the general complainers.

The new iphones also have huge radius on the corners which makes a filled screen look weird for a movie. I think that bugs me more than the pill (which I now have) or the notch. If I want to see the movie letter box as intended, full screen, not filled screen, looks better.Well, the DI pill interferes with watching movies and YouTube unless it is 16.9. What current need is there for 8gb?
The way Ram requirements increase isn't exponential. So in 4 years time you wont need 32gb for example, and 4 years after that 64gb.Make it last longer than the previous generation.
iPhone 8 has 2 GB of RAM, and it is suffering greatly because of it. Had it had 3 GB or more it would have lasted much longer.

8gb is the next increase, but given there is 0 sign of lag, at 120hz in most applications - I find it hard to understand how Apple would have justified that leap right now
Thats not how majority of consumers decide. Hence, almost no company designs their products that wayBecause you should evaluate the need of this device 5 years from now, not in the immediate future.

I have a 12 Pro Max, a 12 Pro and a 13 Pro Max. I'm not upgrading any of them. I'll see what the 15 looks like next fall. For 99% of owners of the iPhone 13 Pro, the answer of whether or not they should upgrade to an iPhone 14 Pro based on the feature set is a resounding no. Perhaps a more interesting and useful article IMO would have been comparisons to older models.
However, if you have money to burn (or can write off the purchase cost) or have some other reason to upgrade from a 13 Pro, then knock yourself out.
My wife and I are on a 4-year cycle.I have a 12 Pro Max, a 12 Pro and a 13 Pro Max. I'm not upgrading any of them. I'll see what the 15 looks like next fall.
Now my woman wanted the 14 Pro Max ASAP and purchased it as a pre-order. She enjoys it but admits it's not really worth the price but she wanted it.
