imo it's heavy. can't imagine pro max. my philosophy is that the phone should serve you, not the other way around. kinda why i like the mini form factor. next year should hopefully reduce the weight with titanium materials.

after a year people will see the 13 lineup as the max in terms of weight comfort.

Keep making them thicker and heavier, look at that gorgeous, massive battery. 😍

At this point you are trolling for the sake of drawing attention to yourself. The current phones can easily last a full high use day, or even past that for the max model. Unless you are lost in the wilderness, you won’t have a problem charging your phone at the end of the day. Carrying around an even heavier and bigger phone, just so you can say it lasts 2 days, isn’t advantageous whatsoever.

Do you also want to remove the backseat in your car to install an extra fuel cell just so you can limit the amount of times you have to stop at one of the one hundred gas stations you pass during the week?

What does wanting a even bigger battery and thicker iPhone have to do with trolling?

If people can’t hold a 238 grams iPhone, return it. 🤦‍♂️

Because it makes absolutely no sense. You stated you want the phone even thicker and heavier than it already is. Yet, the phone already gets you through a whole day. Do you carry around other things you don’t need throughout the day? If the phone already gets you through the day, then why does it need to be thicker and heavier by adding a bigger battery you don’t need? You’re trolling for attention. You got it….and now it’s over.

Lmao!!! Sorry to break it to you, just because it’s heavy for you, doesn’t mean it’s heavy for other people, I have no problem with apple going even thicker and adding a bigger battery, couldn’t care less if the battery last me all day already, I’ll always take more battery life if apple is offering it.

Like you, I'm perfectly happy if the next iPhone is thicker and has better battery life, as long as it's not heavier.

This forum never fails at exposing the amount of slow people that frequent here. You are conflating two different topics.

1. It doesn’t matter to me what you use. My feelings of the current phone don’t matter, nor did I state anything about it. This has no relation to what we are discussing.

2. You stated you want an even heavier and thicker phone, with a bigger battery, even though the current device already provides enough for more than a full days use. You are trolling. Do you carry around a battery pack right now even though you don’t need it? I guarantee you don’t. How about an extra pair of underwear and socks? Do you carry those around? Maybe a pocket full of quarters for no reason at all?

It’s one thing if the phone dies mid day, but it doesn’t. So by your rationale, simply charging your phone when you sleep is too hard, so you’d rather carry an even thicker and heavier device all day every day. Carry a battery pack, even though you don’t need it. Foolish.

Not wasting my time on this topic with you anymore, I’ve explained my reasons, if apple is offering it, I’m taking it, don’t care if my battery last me a year, these phones are already way too thin, people just like complaining for the sake of complaining, how is 238 grams heavy lol.

Thanks for the underwear tip, you never know when that will come in handy.

Agree completely. Also not like these phones are designed for battery packs to be easily used or anything.

one of the ways i judge if a phone is too heavy is through the 'about to sleep' test. ill watch some content and ill fall asleep. if the phone is too heavy while holding it a short period of time while laying down flat i consider it too heavy. the 13 pro has hit its limit from manageable weight to being heavy.

we have to realize that adding a case + screen protector adds even more weight to the phone.

too light and the phone feels cheap, too heavy and it becomes uncomfortable to use. its a fine line.

Generally, I agree. But it still depends on the product. When the iPhone 5 came out it was so light it felt like a stage prop. I much preferred the heft of the iPhone 4. Did that make it better tech? No. But it made the experience of using it better.

Now, that's a different galaxy than now. But it's still an experience of using it thing. I don't think people want a heavier phone: they want a better battery, they want a more capable camera. These things weigh something, and if I feel that the trade is OK, that I'm getting something I value in return, then I'm happy it's there.
Why do people insist the weight is because of the camera and battery and we have to put up with it if we want those improvements?

Apple could have given us those improvements without making the phone so heavy, by not using SS or a glass back.

I use an iPhone 7 with a smart battery case. It weighs 241 grams. I’m used to it and the phone feels too light when I put it in the leather case.

I guess a 13 pro would feel pretty light to me or maybe just right! I’m just afraid of how awkward it would feel in my small hands! Would probably be too wide.

That’s beside the point. The reality is that the phone is heavier. And that the phone has a better battery and a better camera. Could they have done it differently? I don’t know. But the reality is they didn’t. So to get the Pro’s better camera and better battery, one of the costs is the weight. Woulda-shoulda-couldas can’t change that.

EDIT: Looking back on my post you were originally responding to, I can see I did in fact directly state that the better camera and the bigger battery weigh more, so your response quoted above is reasonable. I do still think my thoughts in this post are valid: the phone weighs what it weighs, whatever the reason. But I apologize for not keeping in context.

And then people would complain that Apple was getting cheap with their materials, and we'd be back to the iPhone 6 "bendgate" and/or people complaining that their plastic phones broke when they dropped them.

Not aware of mass complaints over previous flagship iPhones feeling cheap despite being lighter. it doesn’t need to be plastic and whatever happened with iPhone 6 was clearly a one off. Been over 30 models that haven’t suffered that problem.

What a mighty fine strawman argument you have there.

It's crazy how many people complain about the weight.

From Apple's comparison chart on its website:
Weight 7.19 ounces (204 grams) 13 Pro
Weight 6.66 ounces (189 grams) 12 Pro
Weight 7.13 ounces (202 grams) 8 Plus
Weight 6.14 ounces (174 grams) 13
Weight 5.22 ounces (148 grams) 8

Appears that it's the size that's throwing people off.
Maybe it's the weight distribution that's affecting the perception of the iPhone's weight.

Going from a smaller iPhone (SE/mini) to a larger iPhone (Max) is where people can tell the difference, mainly due to the bigger size; ~1~2 Ounce variance.
Going from a similar large iPhone (Plus) to another large iPhone (Max), the weight difference is negligible and immaterial; ~1 Ounce variance.

If anyone can truly feel the weight difference of an additional ounce or so and complains, maybe one needs to exercise.

Going from an older Plus Model (6S Plus then 8 Plus), it was refreshing to downsize to the 13 Pro as it was less bulky. Have to check my pockets many times just to make sure it was there. 😂.
Didn't have to do that before as the Plus models stuck out and barely fit in many pockets, sometimes falling out. Thank goodness all the iPhones were/are in cases.

13 Pro Max vs 13 [Pro] dimensions, respectively, from Apple's website:
Height 6.33 inches (160.8 mm)
Height 5.78 inches (146.7 mm)
Variance: 0.55 inches

Width 3.07 inches (78.1 mm)
Width 2.82 inches (71.5 mm)
Variance: 0.25 inches

Depth 0.30 inch (7.65 mm)
Depth 0.30 inch (7.65 mm)
Same

For those that want the extra screen space, the height & width differences seem negligible unless you're truly want the extra space along with the bulkiness esp. for gaming and video/photo- graphy.
To each their own!

The irony is that when the Plus sizes first came out, lots of people bashed Apple for the (then) huge sizes & supposedly following the larger Samsung smartphones (i.e. Samsung Note's size caused stir back then with other Android smartphones following suit).
Now, lots of people want the larger iPhone size, yet demand is still there for the smaller, regular and mini iPhone sizes.
Apple can't please everyone but is trying with 4 sizes now yet people still find something, anything to complain about.

Honestly, the weight of the Pro is the main reason why I’ll be getting the regular 13. The Pro is super nice and all, but the regular 13 hits the perfect sweetspot for me.
Same with me. I really wanted to get the 13 Pro but there was no way I wanted to deal with the weight of it (especially since I felt my 11 was already heavier than I wanted). I’m very happy a went with the regular 13, a nice upgrade in many ways over my 11.
