I just got my 13 Pro yesterday, upgrading from a 12 Pro. The weight difference is definitely noticeable - way more than I expected it to be. Perhaps the silicone cases are heavier too? I'll keep it for the cameras but the allure of a Mini is getting stronger for sure!

It's crazy how many people complain about the weight.

From Apple's comparison chart on its website:
Weight 7.19 ounces (204 grams) 13 Pro
Weight 6.66 ounces (189 grams) 12 Pro
Weight 7.13 ounces (202 grams) 8 Plus
Weight 6.14 ounces (174 grams) 13
Weight 5.22 ounces (148 grams) 8

Appears that it's the size that's throwing people off.
Maybe it's the weight distribution that's affecting the perception of the iPhone's weight.

Going from a smaller iPhone (SE/mini) to a larger iPhone (Max) is where people can tell the difference, mainly due to the bigger size; ~1~2 Ounce variance.
Going from a similar large iPhone (Plus) to another large iPhone (Max), the weight difference is negligible and immaterial; ~1 Ounce variance.

If anyone can truly feel the weight difference of an additional ounce or so and complains, one needs to exercise.

Going from an older Plus Model (6S Plus then 8 Plus), it was refreshing to downsize to the 13 Pro as it was less bulky. Have to check my pockets many times just to make sure it was there. ?.
Didn't have to do that before as the Plus models stuck out and barely fit in many pockets, sometimes falling out. Thank goodness all the iPhones were/are in cases.

13 Pro Max vs 13 [Pro] dimensions, respectively, from Apple's website:
Height 6.33 inches (160.8 mm)
Height 5.78 inches (146.7 mm)
Variance: 0.55 inches

Width 3.07 inches (78.1 mm)
Width 2.82 inches (71.5 mm)
Variance: 0.25 inches

Depth 0.30 inch (7.65 mm)
Depth 0.30 inch (7.65 mm)
Same

For those that want the extra screen space, the height & width differences seem negligible unless you're truly want the extra space along with the bulkiness esp. for gaming and video/photo- graphy.
To each their own!

The irony is that when the Plus sizes first came out, lots of people bashed Apple for the (then) huge sizes & supposedly following the larger Samsung smartphones (i.e. Samsung Note's size caused stir back then with other Android smartphones following suit).
Now, lots of people want the larger iPhone size, yet demand is still there for the smaller, regular and mini iPhone sizes.
Apple can't please everyone but is trying with 4 sizes now yet people still find something, anything to complain about.
Your assertion that people “need exercise” if they feel a lighter phone is more comfortable to use than a heavier phone is total BS. It’s a device that most people hold or carry all day. Do people “need exercise” that prefer lighter footwear as well?

I'm actually really torn between the 13 and the 13 pro because of the weight concern, I hate myself for this! :(

If I have to carry a 6.1 phone I would choose the Pro, this year the jump in screen and cameras is noticeable with the regular 13.

If not, I would go with the Mini, same phone as the 6.1 brother but a lot easier to carry with.

Last year I ended with the 12 Mini, the 6.1 was too big and uncomfortable, weight apart (the regular 12 was really light for its size).

The screen of the mini is for me too small since I read a lot with the iPhone. So the choice is between the 13 and the 13 pro.

Well, if I have to carry the 6.1 option, I would choose the Pro without a doubt (if money is not a problem).

Since I wanted to "test" the weight of the 13 Pro in real life I bought it and... lord it is just a brick and I hate it for that. I really would like to keep it over the 13 just for the camera, but this weight of 30g more in the pocket is for me very noticeable - irony mode on: yes, I know how to wear jeans with a bolt and I'm strong enough. The problem is not the weight of the 13 Pro itself but the screen protection + case which adds about 20g. I'm still not sure what I want to do. I don't really need the telephoto but for the case that I would need it I would hate the fact that I would not have it.

Just curious: when (if) do you use telephoto?

Health of your wrist is far more important than having that telephoto lens. Switch the 13 pro with 13. You would be happier. In my opinion, Phones should not be heavier than 160 grams. I despise the 194 gram iPhone 11 I am currently using.

I have no problems with the wrist. It is just the weight of the pro which for me is really noticeable compared to the 13 (or my old X) that makes the 13 pro be a brick - in the hand as in the pocket.

The 13 has for me the right weight.

I went from the 12 mini to the 13 pro so it was a pretty big difference in weight. I have gotten the apple leather case for pretty much every iphone since the 7 so I got one for the 13pro. What I found was the case made the phone feel that much heavier so I tried going without a case and the 13pro felt much better in hand. Ive since purchased a really thin plastic case from amazon and Im very happy with the 13pro. It would be hard to go back to a 60hz screen at this point. I even returned my iPad mini 6 because of how bad the screen was. I never missed the telephoto lens when I had the mini but the real game changer this year is the promotion display.

I’m three days in with the 13 Pro, and weight was my concern as well. It’s not bad though and I’ve already adjusted (coming from a phone 50-some grams lighter!). The pros outweigh the cons.

That said- Stainless steel and glass (backs) construction needs to go, lightweight/durable materials should be the “pro” materials of choice, not heavy/slippery ones.

Got the 13PM a week ago and honestly the weight was not a big deal as I was coming from an 8 with the apple smart charging case which weighed 20g less than the 13pm case-less. It was mostly the size that threw me off but after a week I am really enjoying the screen and battery life especially. In my pocket it makes pretty much 0 difference to me and a nice upgrade.

I am not saying that you would have wrist problem manifested in short term. But in 2 or 3 years, due to prolonged use of heavier phones, people would start having all sort of wrist and finger joints problems. Phones these days are pretty heavy. If we put things into perspective, most of the phones before iPhone X were less than 150 grams. Personally, those were the phones I would use without having to constantly shift from one hand to another due to fatigue. I did not even think of the weight and the size while using those phones. The moment I started using 11, I have to adjust my hands a lot to hold it comfortably, especially while reading articles and e-books. Because of its weight, I even sit a little different on my couch whenever I am using my phone on a couch. The whole body dynamics changes when I started using my iPhone 11. Unfortunately, I can’t buy the mini as I suffer from PWM headache. And the new SE leaves a lot to be desired.

I will return the iPhone 13 Pro and stay with the 13 (which has the same weight as the iPhone X). I tried it for more than a week and the weight (223gr with cover and screen protection) is simply a deal breaker. I feel it every time (!) in the hand and in the pocket. I cannot justify this for a "premium" esthetic and if I have to choice between the better camera of the 13 Pro and weight of the 13 I prefer definitely the latter. The 13 feels so much better!

I cannot understand why the iPhone 13 Pro must be so heavy if other phones like S21 or P50 which also have a bigger screen are lighter. I'm sure no one "needs" the steel or heavy materials. I hate that since I always want to have the "best" iPhone – no this time.

I like the weight of 13 Pro. It feels solid. It feels it has substance.

I also like watches that feel like it’s built with substance. I don’t like things that are too light.

I wish I would feel like you. I simply cannot understand how you can like the heavyness over the lightness ??‍♂️
