We live in the age of stupidity now. Apparently the color of the back of the phone most put in a case matters..
Totally agree! After going careless once and shattering the front or back glass of an iPhone, most people learn a valuable lesson and get a protective case. Vanity can cost dearly even when dealing with smartphones. 💸 💰

They keep sabotaging the mini. The 12 mini was overpriced, and now the 13 mini is intentionally hobbled (if true).

Then they wonder why its sales are low, but proclaim nobody wants smaller phones.
When I bought the iPhone 6s in 2015 the 16GB was $899 and the 64GB was $1029 (Canadian dollars)
The iPhone 12 Mini 64GB is $979 and the 128GB is $1049 CAD.

Totally agree. I see people who have not used not even 30% of their 64 GB iPhone storage.
I mean, these are mostly anecdotes, aren't they? I've used 114GB for my favorite hi-res songs, and another 5GB for Messages alone. Even with iCloud Photos on, I have >50% of storage used across the above and installed apps. Always nice to have extra space, IMO. 512GB may be overkill for most, but it's a nice option to have.

No 256GB option? Are you kidding me?
Came here to say this. I thought 128 GB would be enough with my 12 mini, but wishing I bought the 256 GB. Was planning to lock in a 256 GB 13 mini and ride out the next few years until another reasonably sized iPhone comes back.

I don't know that it's worth "upgrading" at all for me if I can't even get 256 GB of storage...

What are ya'll storing on your phones? Seriously? I wonder sometimes.

I have a 256GB iPhone 11 Pro Max and only 65GB is in use. I'm a heavy user of Photos and Music; iOS does a good job of keeping the data I need on my phone so it doesn't have to go out to iCloud very often.

It's funny, for me it felt like we went from always not having enough space to having more space we know what to do with and then some, and then some more.

I'm just wondering what the use cases are for people who want 512GB and 1TB iPhones. Are ya'll storing copies of every movie you like or something?
I have 22,343 photos and videos on my phone, it could be cleaned up a bit, but I keep full versions on my phone, in the very rare case that iCloud shuts down or something happens, I have a full backup of all my pictures. Most of the images are from before heiv(would love to convert them all, but all the apps to do that lose a lot of the metadata).

This right here. Except for the price part. The mini was the lowest price iPhone 12.

It really is starting to look like intentional sabotage. They don't want the mini to succeed, and just like the omission of the telephoto lens and stainless steel last year, they're going to make an even more gimped "mini" option this year before putting it fully out to pasture next year. They just want everyone to begrudgingly lug around a 2.5 lb brick the size of a school bus in their pockets.

It's absolutely infuriating.

Heh. As I feared: apple is hating onboard storage and future pro models would be 64GB only. Or 128GB, if one NAND chip is 128GB.

Cloud storage will be completely useless as long as internet access is down. Storage provider can delete contents you uploaded without notifying you. I can go on and on.

Colour option to me is fine. Kind of wish there’s more colourful option on pro model. Apple should’ve just gone XR route, offering rainbow colour so we have a more vivid iPhone lineup.

There should be a true black every year for the pro models, crazy that we haven’t had one since the iPhone 7 days. That jet black was the best, and the matte black a close second. I still don’t get why Apple thinks space is gray.

Planning on buying a new one since I am on 7s with 256gb. I dont want a larger phone. Will have to wait for the iPhone 14. Really stupid of them if they don't offer a 256.

I'll be getting a new iPhone. Upgrading from an Xs. Existing phone is 64GB. I'm currently using 50GB. 128GB will be fine for me. I typically go with Silver because the white back is my preferred but I'll consider the other colors. Maybe bronze will be pretty cool.

All Apple devices should start at 256GB at this point, but especially for “Pro” versions of devices. This would make the low-end devices equal across the board. All the Macs start at 256, so Pro phones and Pro iPads should start there as well. This would make the extra cost of those devices truly meaningful. It’s past time minimum storage on devices should barely be a consideration for supposedly “Pro” branded devices.

Agreed. Better news would be Apple increasing the default size for unpaid iCloud storage, and then bumping up the paid tiers as well.

Long term storage on the device itself is begging for a catastrophic loss. Keeping media in the cloud is a great option, Apple just needs to sweeten the pot a little.
It is only 99¢ for 50 Gb. But yes it would be great if that was 100 Gb.

The Pro really needs to start at 512 storage option.
Meh, while I increased storage every time I upgraded the first few iPhone upgrades, my last 3 iPhones have been 128 GB and they probably all could've been 64 GB as my on device storage needs seem to have stopped growing mostly thanks to music streaming and iCloud storage.

Dear Macrumors

does anyone of the rendering staff suffer from color blindness? Have you ever seen bronze as a color before? That would explain the render option on that picture. Please modify….in case you need a reference:

I live in a 450 square-foot apartment with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and 2 closets. What are y'all doing with 10,000 square foot, 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom homes with multiple walk-in closets? Seriously? I wonder sometimes. (/s)

Different people use storage differently. Lossless music, 4K movies, and high-resolution video files take up a lot of space. And some people like having access to their media library when they go places where wifi (or cellular data) isn't readily available, or at least not at streaming speeds. In normal times, I have an hour commute via the subway; I don't want to have to swap music on and off my phone based on my daily preferences. I'm willing to pay for the convenience of having my digital assets with me at all times, just as some people are willing to pay for the convenience of having separate bathrooms for each of their kids.
