I can do whatever I please, and will. I still have some Apple products, but I am not a fanboy who will buy a new Apple product that has almost zero innovative upgrades just to brag to my friends at Starbucks.
Neither are most of the folks here.

Weird flex on your part, but whatever makes you feel better I guess.

My XS is doing just fine; I may upgrade if I see a good enough deal and the update seems worth it. Or I may not.

What's up with this focus on camera improvements every year? Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly take a better camera, but the incremental improvements each year just aren't that big.

In most situations when my girlfriend takes a photo on her iPhone 8, it doesn't look any worse than when I take a photo on my iPhone 11. Not saying there is no difference at all, but it just isn't very big.

Why are so many people suckers for the "better camera" argument? Does it really matter in practice unless the camera is really significantly better (which it never is)?

Cameras are already great in iPhones and very few people really need more computing power from theirs phones compared to the current model, even when considering future needs. And as we know, 13s will lack the single most obvious feature that would actually bring something new, namely, touch id. So this is not very exciting. However getting the MBPs finally out would be a different story...

I was going to hold out but feel tempted by the 13 Mini since this is the last year for it, supposedly. My biggest reservations are the incremental upgrades over my 11 Pro, and none of the the bonus features like 120Hz and lack of zoom lens which, being a father of two I use a lot on my 11 Pro. Will probably just do the Series 7 cellular this year to replace my Series 5 non-cellular.

If there is an AirPods release on Sept 30 (a Thursday), that suggests an announcement on Tue Sept 28. It is unlikely that they will have an event for just the AirPods. Could Sept 28th be when they announce the new MacBook Pros?

I just upgraded to a iPhone 12 Pro Max. iPhone 13 isn't going to be that different. Who cares.
I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 13 Pro Max (I'm on yearly upgrade) will be a big improvement. The 5G modem in the 12 is 1st generation for Apple, and 2nd generation for the iPhone 13. There is a problem with the 12 5G modem with power consumption on the Verizon UW bands. It is so bad, I have to run on LTE instead of 5G.

Maybe it is time to replace my iPhone 6s Plus. Or not. The next iOS 15 still supports my iPhone 6s Plus (maybe the last iOS). Do I hold out for one more year?

All depends on whether or not you feel the upgrades in the new phone model are worth the cost to you to do the upgrade.

There'll also probably be a bunch of used 11's and perhaps 12's available on the used market if you prefer to go that path.

Sounds like the most underwhelming iPhone update yet. Waiting on macs.
yes, but in my case I'm still on the iPhone 5S, so possibly I'll buy the 13 mini, but I feel the 14 should be one that I'll need, possibly a real changer.

I'm on Macbook Pro 2013, so yes, I'm waiting for the 14 inch!!!

I'm old tech!

I’m ready for the iPhone 13 Pro Max!

Maybe event on Sept 7, preorder Sept 10 and release Sept 17?
This.

With the exception of the iPhone 6s, every iPhone that was launched in September has gone on sale on the Friday of the third week. The iPhone 6s was the oddball, as Apple held the announcement at the same time as the year before (September 9), and started the pre-orders the same week, but pushed out the delivery and in-store date by two weeks, rather than the usual one week.

There have also only been two iPhones that didn't go on sale on a Friday.

sister-in-law's adult daughter(from her previous marriage) works at a Verizon corporate store... she had no problem getting her vacation days approved between 9/22 and 9/30. She's going to Hawaii with the rest of us. (assuming that the COVID-19 situation in Hawaii doesn't get worse by then)

according to her, she was never able to get time off in previous year's new iPhone launch dates.

That’s in line with a Sept 17 release date.

Keynote Sept 7, preorder Sept 10, release Sept 17.

switching to android after 13 years (since iPhone 3G) I now doubt everything about apple's direction... and primarily their device not being cryptogames-friendly... i'll buy ROG Phone 5S next month!

Who cares? Users who didn't just upgrade to an iPhone 12 Pro Max care. This will be a big upgrade for anyone on a 2+ year old phone. If yearly updates are a thing for you, you're in the minority.
Same here, if the rumors of a 1TB Storage option for the 13 Pro Max is real, I'm getting it, plus I'm using a XS Max 512GB since launch day.

iPhone 13...yaaaaaaawn 🥱My Galaxy Z Fold 3 512GB should be here tomorrow. Can't wait! Y'all enjoy your "new" iPhone with super sweet, totally amazing, upgraded cameras and nothing else. The iPhone 13 will still look like it is from 2017. Oh wait, I forgot you might actually get 120Hz refresh rate, and a smaller but still completely ghetto looking notch. What a treat!! Until Apple releases a foldable phone (and not the Z Flip style), I'm out.

Meanwhile you’re getting latest Samsung bloatware special with crap camera and a crap screen with a fold in it. Got it. A narrow phone that unfolds to the crappiest tablet ever filled with apps not even optimized for it. It’s so exciting. Lol.

You forgot: running an OS made by a company whose primary business model is to gather your data and sell it.

7 Plus owner here:😅
And after breaking my odd number upgrade groove since then
(owned an iPhone 6 & 6S Plus too),
that’s exactly what I’m doing—
I want to make it Meaningful.
7 Plus X 2 Baby!✌️😎

I have iPhone 12 Pro Max and have early upgrade options from my network. However I’m likely to give the upcoming iPhone 13 a miss because some much needed features have still yet to materialise. These are:-

1. Solid State Batteries - the iPhone needs this more than anything; many times more capacity on a single charge than Li-ion for many days of use from single charge — substantially increased overall lifespan for the battery,‘possibly lasting or outlasting phone’s own lifespan — different chemical and physical structure/composition and technology within solid state batteries that do ‘not’ suffer the problem of lithium dendrites, which occur in conventional Li-ion batteries — increased overall lifespan of solid state batteries means less replacement batteries per handset’s lifetime which results in being helpful for the environment.

2. Micro-LED (not mini-LED which is completely different). Micro-LED is vastly superior in every way to OLED in brightness power output, viewing angle, overall lifespan and is completely absent of the “elephant in the room” problem with OLEDs being that of eventual long term screen-burn and deteriorating lifespan (traditionally with the blue organic LED’s within the OLED micro matrix). Micro-LED is genuinely where it’s at.

3. Better resistance to, or even to finally overcome the long time issue of display brightness throttling. This has been a problem with each and every iPhone owned to date; severe throttling of the display’s brightness makes the iPhone’s display too difficult to see and sometimes impossible. The phone often gets warm/hot from usual daily scenarios such as — demanding processor intensive software/apps — phone increasing transmitter/receiver power to compensate for areas with lower signal strength in network coverage — using phone outdoors during summer in the sun — using phone on car dashboard for map navigation — when the phone is performing various functions while charging (including charging in wireless cradle/pad), etc. The result of these and other scenarios is that the phone starts getting warm-hot and the display often has its brightness level dropped so much as to make it too dark and barely even visible.

Of course, there are some other ‘not as critical’ features which would nevertheless be very welcome, such as 240 or 120Hz variable screen refresh, 1TB storage capacity, fingerprint sensor in addition to the already excellent and priceless Face ID (which should never be removed) and some other feature enhancements. However the three features numbered above are absolutely essential and welcome game changer.

Honestly if I had enough money for a z flip I wouldn't even bother touching a apple product 💀
