we know 256gb is not enough if you have been in the ecosystem since iPhone 4…Apple One Family bundle should have a minimum of 1TB of icloud+, come on Tim family is family not a Single person!
If you are saving stuff to iCloud then why will 256Gb not be enough?

I would consider that a niche crowd, its not necessarily representative of all iPhone users. I see granny's walking around iPhone 13 Pro Maxes in Sierra Blue, clear case. They probably have the maxed out config, but I wouldn't be surprised if they barely scratched the surface of using it to what is its full potential.
hell, I see people with high (higher) end Mac gear, but all they do is just surf the web, some emails, and some Office-like documents. They can't be too worried about privacy when they use Facebook an hour a day, or use plenty of Google products and services (like Gmail).

8K video and 48MP pics will gobble up a lot of storage fast.

Besides, Apple needs a few talking points to help rationalize a big price hike.
My thinking too.. the price starts off $200 more, but hey, you get 256 GB off the bat! ;)
128GB of storage is becoming increasingly more difficult to work with, since phones then to fill up quicker because of the increasing size of pictures and other media. A base of 256GB seems very reasonable, especially if there is a price increase.
For a phone, I'm fine with that. I miss having micro-SD card slots, but that was a necessity when my phones only had 16 to 32 GB of internal storage. I know for some, 128 isn't enough b/c they go crazy with the photos and videos (in terms of quantity and quality). *I* don't take that many photos anyways, and when things fill up, I just offload them onto my desktop PC. Admittedly, 256 GB (or 192 GB if possible) would nip any storage fears in the bud, but I've been able to get 128 to work.

My 9th gen iPad OTOH... only 64 GB. I worked out my use case scenario and it's a glorified, "lite-er" gaming device, and may do some misc. stuff once in a while. The one curve ball was Apple Arcade, as some of the games there can go through 1.5 to 5 GB apiece. However, it sort of worked out b/c I'm putting on hold since I'm going to be piling on more streaming services (ss isn't the same as video games, but they still eat into the same pool of my free time)

True. Some folks can afford to buy the top of the line product or services just in case they need it one day. I wouldn't knock it. You only live once!

For the longest time i always had gotten away with highest storage iphone offered at the time, this time 256gb has been good to me until Apple decided to open the floodgates with music‘s Hi-Res/Lossless capacity. On my iPad Pro my entire music collection with hi res capacity is currently sitting at 290gb(normally it’s 88gb) and LOL i had to humble my self down real quick on my iphone and go back to regular sized music until the time is right… My last trip though I went on crisis storage mode for the first time in years were i actually had to start deleting media and content off my device just to make room since hotel wifi was working over time uploading 1,000 pictures and videos overnight a day for five days straight, oh well, camera aside, storage is what i need on this upgrade, all things considered how i was used to paying mid range storage, I’m hoping it’s 512gb at least, we will see

They SO need to increase iCloud storage. 4TB is no longer enough of a maximum. I’m counting on a doubling with the new iPhones.

If SE 3rd Gen saw a 7.5% price increase from 399 to 429, then we should at the very least expect $799 iPhone 14 to jump to $859, 14 Pro to $1074, and 14 Pro Max to $1184 if equal price increases are actually implemented this year.

*Obviously not those exact numbers as Apple probably won't increase pricing on all models and no iPhone is ever getting a price where the rightmost digit isn't a 9, rounding up or down to the nearest ten or more.

I'm thinking:
  • 14 $849 or $899
  • 14 Max $949 or $999
  • 14 Pro $1049 or $1099
  • 14 Pro Max $1149 or $1199
Hopefully all price hike rumors are wrong. But since it happened even on the worst value iPhone to ever drop, SE 3rd Gen., then I don't see why Apple wouldn't hike prices on the rest of the lineup.
You are overthinking this. The increase from $399 to $429 was because of the addition of the 5G modem.
All of the other phones have 5G already, the speculation made is unnecessary.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max may start with an increased 256GB of storage, rather than the starting 128GB option previously offered for the high-end iPhone models, according to updated forecast from TrendForce.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the ‌iPhone 14 lineup will be around 15% more expensive than the average selling price of the iPhone 13 lineup, but a higher starting storage option on the Pro models may offset the price increase for customers. According to TrendForce, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max may start with 256GB of storage and not 128GB as previously offered. The increased storage option would make sense given the rumored price hike, but rumors are still conflicting on whether or not this will be the case.

The iPhone 13 Pro with 256GB of storage costs $1,099, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 256GB of storage is priced at $1,199. According to TrendForce, these will be around the same prices as the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, respectively, with 256GB of on-device storage. TrendForce today also doubled down on past reports, including the iPhone 14 Pro featuring updated RAM. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to feature the same 6GB of memory as the current iPhone 13 Pro but will use the newer and faster LPDDR5 type of memory.

Other rumored upgrades for iPhone 14 Pro models include a faster A16 chip, a new pill-shaped cutout and hole replacing the notch, an upgraded 48-megapixel rear camera lens with support for 8K video recording, front camera autofocus, and an always-on display.

This… would be a good reason to increase price for base model.

It most probably will be the same 12MP photo's that we have now, because there will be pixel binning for photos. The 48mp sensor is just to make 8k video possible.
Rumors say it'll produce 48MP images when there's a lot of light.

I think on the Pro phones they might but I would rather see no price increase than getting extra storage. I bought a 256 GB model but really only needed 128 GB as I have 166 GB free right now.

My friend is worried about his pacemaker and the new magnetso_O
This what I posted before on the magnet posts. They were already saying a whlle back how the iPhones with MagSafe were dangerous, and now they are making them stronger?

Its not the same ram thou if the 14 Pro LPDDR 5

But it’s the “same” amount of ram, didn’t they say the triple camera setup already needs 6 minimum a year or 2 ago? Will this stop Safari from refreshing constantly and apps closing out if you stop to take a quick pic of something? I think all those issues would be easily solved by increasing the ram. We’re talking about a phone that’s going to cost around 1500 for the 1 terabyte version. How will this phone run iOS 17, iOS 18, iOS 19? Where’s the future proofing? Seems to me if true Apple is just penny pinching.

*Note to overzealous mod/mods, this is on topic, and you don’t determine whether my opinion is or isn’t, go fill your rings or something and stop wasting time censoring my posts because I’m not afraid to call Apple out on their lack of innovation and cheapness*
