They better have the same design for both Pro and non Pro models and not pull off any petty tricks like they did with XR.

No one wants a cheaper looking iPhone.

Yep. I think it’s only numbskulls who think Apple are reactive in a 6-12 month timeline.

95% of the design of these products are likely sketched out 18 months to 3 years in advance, and roadmapped 5+ years out.
What I don’t understand is, if the rumours are true, why didn’t they use the hole punch/pill for the recent MacBook Pro’s?

My guesses:
  • iPhone is Apple's flagship product, so it is most likely to debut most new features
  • For new display technologies, we've seen a trend where it's easier to roll them out on smaller screens first

I love my XR and usually don't upgrade early at all. The 4S was the first iPhone I ever had though, so if the 14 comes out looking anything like this and the pricing is right, I might pull the trigger just out of nostalgia.

I’ve had every iPhone since the first version launched and the 4/4S was by far my favorite physical form, even as I had signal attenuation issues with the 4 (the bumper solved the problem). It also was prone to get cracks and chips in the glass panels, so assuming today‘s version with much higher strength glass will greatly eliminate those issues.

To go even further with the iPhone 4 nostaligia factor another feature built in is the metal band around the phone that acts as a cellular antenna that you have to hold just right to get reception.

Joking aside, the iPhone 4 was their best phone in terms of design and build quality imo.

I'm definitely not upgrading my 13 Pro Max this year.
I know I told myself that last year too, but this time I intend to stick with it....... I hope......lol

The updates just do not justify the high purchase price for me any more......I end up upgrading then once setup I feel little has actually changed. Hence I want to wait for the iPhone 15 to see what that brings to the table, and whether that upgrade feels more like an upgrade.....
The variable framerate display made the 13 pro upgrade feel pretty good, so you got that going for you!

We all know that iPhone 14 will be release sometime in September nothing new about that. Design tweak will be very thin margin and nothing like revolution - don’t fall trap with fake design.

The funny things - once you have new phone you will be happy just for 20 mins and the rest will be history because you know how to use iPhone & iOS.

Yes, plastic would be fine for me. As well as being lighter, it's much less likely to shatter. And I don't care what the back of my phone looks like. The 5c was more comfortable in the hand than any other phone I've owned.
I totally agree. What happened to all of that nice "ballistic plastic" Apple used to use back in the day? Seem like the way to go for a phone, no? I have never understood glass.

It was voted down in favor of inflated repair costs for shattered/broken glass. Although, I am interested to see how long Apple offers $29 repairs for this type of damage on the 12 & 13s with AC as this seems like a pretty fair deal.

The camera is finalized 3 years before release. Someone from Apple confirmed that.

A thicker Pro Max could be great. No camera bump would be a nice change and there’s room for even better speakers.

If the selfie camera is a separate hole punch, make it a really good camera.

A thicker Pro Max could make room for an outstanding DAC for the cord connection to AirPods Max. A new lightning-to-lightning cable to remove the need for the dongle is needed. ?
