That sounds awesome. I use my iPhone 13 Pro Max outside a lot. I actually bought a phone cooler off Amazon, it is a couple fans that attach to the back of the phone. I find just keeping the phone cool does a lot to make the display more readable since a lot of the problem is the device dimming itself when it overheats.
This bugs me a lot about my iPhone 13 Pro Max. When I go sit outside where it is a little warmer, the display goes dim and I can barely see anything. If I turn up the brightness all the way, the iPhone gets hot. It seems so finicky.

Def not pointless! Between lower heat from 4n chip and a huge default brightness increase (from my 11 pro) both in typical and peak brightness, it will actually make the iPhone functional (visible) outside for once. Even if it auto-dims, it will dim to a default level that's WAY higher!
No it won't.

This is actually one of the main reasons I’m upgrading from my 12 mini. Can’t stand how dim it is outdoors.

The ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max now deliver the same level of brightness as the high-end $4,999 Pro Display XDR when watching HDR content, according to Apple.

An optional iPhone 14 Pro display stand is available for $999.

If it’s ultra bright outside (or in a vehicle), if you’re like me, you‘re wearing sunglasses. That only compounds the problem dramatically. Like others have also stated, it will be interesting how long we’ll be able to get that extra brightness before it automatically dims to prevent overheating.

You’ve invented the drone :)

The question is for how long. Even today it stays bright for 2 minutes and then dims all the way down because it's too hot. I can't imagine that at 2000 nits it's going to do much better.
Duration is the question as well as how color accurate the display stays. Truly marvelous if it delivers on both ends!

It remains to be seen how sustained that brightens is! The 12 Pro Max was significantly dimmed all the time while warm and the 13 Pro Max received only a marginal improvement in that regard.

I saw somebody earlier in this thread said that Apple was trying to make the iPhone 14 Pro, "The Perfect Smartphone". If we leave the high price out of the equation, I would beg to differ in one key issue. Holding an iPhone 13 Pro felt like I was holding a heavy device. I am guessing that the 14 Pro, and especially the 14 Pro Max will feel even heavier. Please make these phones lighter. The stainless steel construction along with the ever larger camera assemblies make these devices heavy and awkward to carry around, at least for me. Provide the power of the Pro phones, along with the lighter weight of the 13 Mini or even the standard iPhone 13, and that would be the "perfect smartphone". BTW, I realize that my request will never be granted, and maybe not even possible. i am only saying what would be perfect for me.

Agree..one thing is to dim from 1000nits and another thing to dim from 2000nits...now we also need to see how is the level of dim when the phone get hot

Wait so is the “overheating” thing the reason why my past iPhones will suddenly dim while still insisting in control center that the brightness is turned all the way up?

For years I’ve thought this was a software bug or that I was crazy since the dimming is so abrupt with no gradual fade and no messaging such as, “iPhone needs to cool down for full brightness.”

I'm guessing in 1-2 generations the iPhone Pro Max is going to change to the "iPhone Ultra". This would also be a good time to switch the body material to titanium and severely reduce the weight of the device.
