My last phone, Samsung Note 20 Ultra, had a curved screen and I really disliked it. My biggest problem with it was that there was absolutely no border and it made typing impossible. My hand would constantly touch the edges of the screen and cause the keyboard to do all kinds of stupid things. The only way I could use it was to either use slide to type (or whatever it's called in Samsungville) or put the thing in a really big and heavy case.

Ewww! One of the reasons I switched to iPhone was to get away from the curved displays on Android flagships. The perfectly flat display on my iPhone 13 Pro Max is a breath of fresh air.

This mod may have made the phone a lot worse, but at least it was a lot of work 👍

A hardware technician has come up with an iPhone 14 Pro Max modification to add a display that curves at the edges like a Samsung Galaxy device.

Twitter user @lipilipsi, a self-proclaimed iPhone hardware technician who specializes in aftermarket Apple device modifications, showed off their latest project with several images and a brief video. The modification involves swapping out the iPhone's stainless steel frame and adding a new display, but all of the device's other components remain the same.

The curved display is particularly reminiscent of Samsung Galaxy smartphones, which have had displays that curve on the left and right horizontal side edges since the launch of the Galaxy Note Edge in 2014.

@lipilipsi has undertaken several other inventive iPhone modifications, including adding a rear display using an Apple Watch, switching an iPhone 13's Lightning port to USB-C, and moving an entire device to a transparent casing to see the internal components.

For everyone crying about this. Get over yourself.
This is a modification. It’s a proof of concept. Without things like this we wouldn’t even have larger screens or better cameras in our iPhones.
Innovation and competition are driven by EXPERIMENTATION. Without forward thinking people and demand for something different we would all still happily be holding our underpowered LED display 10mp camera iPhone that Apple says is “ different “

So go ahead be upset. Don’t like it.
You don’t have to.

That is brilliant as far as mods go. How is that even possible? Very cool project.
He separated the original display from the front glass and installed it on a curved front glass. The OLED display is very flexible, so nothing really special there if he has the tools.

Like others said, it looks like **** 😂

Why doesn't this person due something actually useful like design a flat screen for my Samsung S22 Ultra?

Curved screens are an abomination.

I think if you're going to have a curved phone, it should be on the back. This would then provide some use case for ergonomics as it would curve to the palm of your hand. I'm not sure how the display being curved does anything other it looks different. Each to their own.
