Curved? I’ll stick with my cracked display for free. I tried to take a screen shot but it doesn’t show up

From day one all the curved-corner screens on phones have kind of baffled me--it's always seemed like a solution in search of a problem, and that it adds nothing useful to the UI experience while complicating or actively worsening durability if dropped.

This certainly does not change that opinion--if Apple offered this display (even with better industrial design) as an option today, I definitely wouldn't buy it.

Curved display was somehow meaningful only for Galaxy Note 4 Edge, where curved edge was big enough. It was kind of touch bar that is visible when phone is closed in its flip wallet.

A hardware technician has come up with an iPhone 14 Pro Max modification to add a display that curves at the edges like a Samsung Galaxy device.

Twitter user @lipilipsi, a self-proclaimed iPhone hardware technician who specializes in aftermarket Apple device modifications, showed off their latest project with several images and a brief video. The modification involves swapping out the iPhone's stainless steel frame and adding a new display, but all of the device's other components remain the same.

The curved display is particularly reminiscent of Samsung Galaxy smartphones, which have had displays that curve on the left and right horizontal side edges since the launch of the Galaxy Note Edge in 2014.

@lipilipsi has undertaken several other inventive iPhone modifications, including adding a rear display using an Apple Watch, switching an iPhone 13's Lightning port to USB-C, and moving an entire device to a transparent casing to see the internal components.

Got say this guy likes doing mods, well just because he can, well done.

Unconditional love…
Everything made by Apple is years away from the competition and Apple knows best why Apples decides this or that.
Apple is wise.
Apple rulez over all other vendors.
I hate Apple. I hate a Android. I love Apple.
-sigh-
Lack of innovation from Apple. That is it.
After using a little while that kind of displays and size/format, the iPhones seem prehistoric. Even switching tasks in iOS is primitive compared to some Android flavors.
I love to hate my iPhone and hate to love Android superiority in some regards that have never been copied by Apple.

Show off his engineering chops?
Or get a large number of people looking at his work and commenting on it. I'm not big on "exposure" or the attention economy, but if I were hungry for attention managing to get a project of mine covered on a tech site like MacRumors would by itself be a huge win, and that's without whatever amount of chatter this generated on Twitter.
