Yeah, I'm splendid sometimes with gifts....but not that splendid. My friend and family members can buy their own iPhones!

That's bad news... I couldn't stand the wait now that I simply couldn't return to using an earlier iPhone with a significantly worse camera than the 48 Mpixel 1x one in the 14P.

I wonder if this also applies to spare parts used to fix iPhones. That could be more of an issue. One could simply keep using an older smartphone until a new iPhone becomes available but it's a bit more hassle if your current iPhone can't be fixed due to shortages.

Well crap. I was going to get my wife one for Christmas. I guess now I have to stalk the website for in-store availability and call every local cell place.
Good luck with that. Jingle all the Way springs to mind 🙂

That Apple Q4 report coming in January is not going to be good…

Sort of unacceptable.
Well yes, for the instant gratification crowd. NBC News aired a segment last night of young girls sobbing uncontrollably because they couldn’t get tickets to Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert tour. Ticketmaster’s website had crashed one male fan was demanding it be fixed IMMEDIATELY or else!

Oh, how will they cope?!? 🙄

I’m sure if you wanted to gift this that person would have likely already bought it.
This announcement is not for users but for the streets. When showing their quarterly results next quarter they'll be able to explain the drop in revenue and rightly point out that they warned everyone.

Best Buy in FL has delivery by this Friday, doesn't make sense.
Chances are that you wouldn't get it this Friday or anytime soon, they'll have a handful of devices in stock and except for a few customers everyone else will get a notification that their order cannot be fulfilled. That's how it usually goes since these listings for popular hardware are often already outdated by the time you find them, the systems are too slow to keep track of remaining stock when demand is crazy. You can always try but unless you get lucky you'll end up talking to a support rep about when you can expect the refund. Best Buy is no different, they've already embarassed themselves earlier this year with the "Best Buy totaltech program" where you'd pay money to improve your chances of getting your hands on limited stock.

People who are looking for that iPhone now might not get it Dec 24th but then Apple is still estimating late December. I am sure whoever didn't preorder won't care about a couple extra days, right? Is Christmas going to be ruined if you tell your spouse they'll get a new iPhone the week after? I already feel bad enough knowing that our delivery couriers work SEVEN days a week for multiple weeks, with up to 12 hour shifts each day. They say they do it "voluntarily" and when asked why they say that if they don't work sat and sun, the workload on Monday would be so high they couldn't catch up.

So please keep in mind that there are people out there who take a big hit to their physical and mental health just so we can enjoy the holidays a bit more with some new tech.

They’re all available for delivery from Best Buy for tomorrow in every color/carrier/storage configuration. Best Buy’s stock status is accurate.

For a single Christmas present, $1000 is a lot.
This is true no matter how much money people have. I am well off. I know a lot of people who are much, much, much more well off. No one is spending $1000 on a single Christmas present. What you spend on Christmas presents isn't intrinsically tied to how much money you have, in the sense that it doesn't just keep going up forever. I also think we're past the point where buying someone else an iPhone is a little weird. Amongst spouses, sure. Parents buying for young children, sure. Beyond that? People need to buy their own iPhones so they can manage their own plans. And Pro iPhones? Who is buying Pro iPhones for someone else?

The whole premise of this article is nonsense.
