So you'd be opposed to a toggle to turn the feature on or off?
Exactly. As long as it's an option, our attitude shouldn't be "If I don't want it, then nobody should have it!" lol!
So you'd be opposed to a toggle to turn the feature on or off?
Unless Apple make it so that we can’t.
Agreed. The AppleWatch hides image retention better. But an iPhone? I can already see the mega-thread in the iPhone forum complaining on burn-in.
oled screens don't have a backlit plane but they will still use some power to stay lit.I stand behind what I said. Nowadays, with a normal usage of a portable device (be it a laptop or a phone) the most of the energy goes into the display's brightness.
You want proof?
If I surf the web with my M1 MBP at, say, 1/3 of the brightness, it'll last for something like 12-15h. If I set the brightness to max, then it'll last for half the time, if not less.
Meh, but it’ll be nice to have the option. We will be told how revolutionary always-on is and 13 Pro models won’t have this feature due to hardware limitation. Please upgrade to 14 Pro so AAPL can moon![]()
Whatever the technology, as of today, a lit display consumes energy.oled screens don't have a backlit plane but they will still use some power to stay lit.
I would also hope not, but whatever tech Apple uses, it is still in the end an LCD which will be prone to SBI.I would hope not.
My 1+ 9 Pro AMOLED screen I would think would be more susceptible and it is great.
I would expect the iPhone screen to be even better.
But yeah ... I would expect the mega-thread on SBI here![]()
A screen with pixels is still a screen with pixels. It will still happen and you still see cases of people complaining here in MR.AOD has been pretty much perfected on Android for years now, especially with Samsung. I highly doubt you'll have to worry about burn-in on an iPhone.
Apple is probably waiting to perfect this feature lol😂😂😂You do know these things have a switch, right?
It would be nice to see Apple catch up to phones of 2012.
I wouldn’t count on this option, they could remove it like the multitasking option in 15.Already a thing,
It should basically match whatever your setting is for phone lock during the day and match Sleep Mode setting for night time settingsand if implemented, allow us to schedule it.
For me on my Android I set it to normal working hours so it is AoD while at my desk.It should basically match whatever your setting is for phone lock during the day and match Sleep Mode setting for night time settings
I don’t think that’s what they asked for. Unless I’m mistaken, that toggle only limits the maximum refresh rate of the display to 60 hertz instead of 120. It does NOT stop the display from varying the refresh rate from 10-60 fpsAlready a thing,
