My whites seem so bright that I keep the screen at a lower setting but then I can’t watch videos or read other colored texts so I’m constantly changing the brightness. Getting annoying 🤦‍♂️… compared the screen of my 14pm to my wife’s 14 pro and hers is a shade dimmer and it makes reading and using the phone so much easier on the eyes.

From what i'm reading in general the screens this year are flawless. Also DisplayMate achieved 2300 nits and gave the screen "the best smartphone screen" (again)

My 14 Pro screen is perfect - no banding on gray, no tint at all - green/pink/red, no flickering. Good black levels.

Meanwhile my Note 9 has weird uneven banding on gray colors at 1-2 spots - like darker spots. (not burn-in). With this I mean I know what I'm talking about. I'm not one of those which have zero idea of those issues and say "my is perfect".

I'm kinda display OCD. :D I changed my half year old monitor just for 1 dead green sub-pixel...

Mine isn't flawless. As you can see, I have a pink/red tint on the right and left sides of the display. It's unfortunately noticeable in daily use, as when I use the phone in bed at night the combination of dark mode, true tone, and lower brightness makes the red parts of the display quite obvious even when I'm scrolling through Macrumors.

My 13PM on the other hand was pretty much perfect.

Also had a 13PM with the perfect screen that I wish I had kept now. My first 14 PM had screen uniformity where the top was warmer, so I got an express replacement, and unfortunately the replacement isn’t any better. And not sure if it’s just my imagination, but the letters in the replacement seem to be a little less sharper than the original. Not sure if I should give it another try or just keep this one. Just sucks, cause I had a 13 that was flawless.

I’m sorry to see this.

Definitely some screen lottery. I tried out a 14 pro initially on launch day and it was so intensely bright and harsh. I sent it back because I couldn't get on with the screen. I'm currently trying another one and it's a bit warmer and so much easier on the eyes. It's too bad you couldn't try them first like you would shoes :)

What brightness level is this at?

I'm annoyed with this screen enough that I'll play the lottery a little. I've ordered a purple and a gold pro max and I'll compare this one and those two when they arrive, and keep whichever is best.

I'm not looking for perfection (even though my 13PM is basically perfect), I'm just looking for something that isn't going to annoy me during normal use - that is when I'm not adjusting things to see the flaws, I'm just using the damn thing at night.

Is this a grey image?

Yep that grey image that was posted earlier and a dark room
I mean an App (in the App Store) where you can test black, white, green, red, blue background colors and gradient tests?

Is there anything you know like that for ?

This one? if not, can you upload it please?
Sure. Interestingly, on this particular grey, the phone seemed perfectly uniform. It seems that it's only on darker greys that it shows up.

Macrumors in dark mode and the setting a new alarm in the clock app are two examples.

This is the replacement I received last week from Apple to replace my original 14PM tha had a uniformity issue. I still don’t think it’s 100% perfect but I don’t know if I’m going for a third one. This gets old quick. I took some shots,’one with the gray background posted here. By the way, is it just me, but sometimes when reading on “books”, do u get a “blooming” effect on some words?

Looks good to me, but that grey image doesn't seem to expose the uniformity issues. Turn on night mode and true tone, make sure dark mode is on, then go into the clock app and hit the + to set a new alarm. This is a good example of the grey that shows the issue, if there is one.

Just took these two, one with brights at 50% and the other at 100%

Looks good. If you're not seeing anything different at 25% then I reckon that's a keeper. I can see a tiny bit of redness on the bottom left corner and maybe on the right hand side near the middle, but nothing you'd actually notice in daily use. The only reason I've been bummed out about mine is I can actually see it when I'm in bed using the phone.

Yeah i think im keeping this one even though it isn’t perfect like my 13PM was. But i do replace my phone every year, and I don’t feel like playing this game a third time.

I know the feeling. I'm not looking to play the lottery for very long either. I'll be picking out the best one of these two 14PMs I've ordered, selling my unicorn display 13PM and moving on. I'm also upgrading each year and selling the old one, so I don't want to get bogged down by this stuff.

btw I didn't notice the thing about the blooming text. Hard to see on a photo. I don't use books but I can take a look on my 13PM and 14PM tonight.

Yeah, don’t let it consume you, it can be a pain in the ass. But i totally understand. We are paying for premium price for these devices so we expect premium quality. I just ordered the new iPad Pro today and im praying I don’t have to go through this again.

Yeah, that would be much appreciate it if you can check it on yours. It’s usually when there is a black background and white text, and I see a bit of a blooming effect around the words.

I'm not seeing any blooming on mine. This is my 13PM and 14PM. Not sure which is which.
