This has been held back for an in person event imo. The applause when this is announced ...
The event is not in person. It will be a video recording again. The hands on area is in person, which is exclusively for journalists and tech influencers.

Still I can imagine the Verge getting a solid vlog in the bag demoing the new battery indicator.

I hope it's sooner.

(As I look down at my iPhone 6s+ with my wired headphones plugged in, wondering if I'll ever be able to get a new iPhone.)
It's worth pointing out that Apple's lightning-headphone adapter has a built-in DAC which means that your wired headphones will sound better if you use the Lightning port.

so silly that in 2022 we have a screen with an empty black space in it...

would 100% rather that top area be cropped and have a 5mm black space at the top

Do not let them choose, do not let them choose - before you know it they'll be choosing Android when they believe they can choose or decide things.
Everyone knows they can choose Android already, but those with iPhones decided they don't want to switch to an inferior product.

It would be nice if the carrier was removed from the status bar. I don't need a reminder of who I pay my cell bill to every time I use my iPhone, and that space would allow several other icons for those who like them.

This may be some kind of agreement with the carrier.

I just received my iPhone 14 Pro Max today. I'm very happy. So is there a way to get the classic battery icon back, or not yet? I don't see anything in Settings > Battery that suggests that I can.
