This year, all iPhone 15 models will include Apple's Dynamic Island that unifies the pill and hole cutouts at the top of the display
So they won’t have the green and orange dots for video and audio in it anymore I guess?

Am I the only one that hasent been brainwashed by Apple Marketing? It's still a notch, a floating notch.

Look into this light... watch this light... it is not a notch, it is more screen RE to the left, right, above and below... watch the light... follow the light... the notch, er- I mean, the island is iconic... keep following the light... eyes on the light... there is no notch and the island is the most impressive thing Apple has ever done... the light... the light... you have room on your Apple Pay credit line, you want to buy as much as you can and can't afford today... follow the light... watch the light... only the cool kids have Apple stuff, and you can't be the coolest of the cool unless you have the latest & greatest model... follow the light... watch the light... everyone will know if you have last years because this tiny bit of change will clearly show it, so you must upgrade every year... the light, the light... you also feel compelled to send all Apple stock and/or Bitcoin you hold to HobeSoundDarryl... see the light, watch the light... send that stock and buy that new iPhone! ;)

Swapping the battery is also an option.
By the time the battery’s toast, the phone itself is usually beat up to the point I’d prefer a replacement. My previous phone (X) managed to get the keyboard burned-in to the OLED display, so re-selling it back to Apple was one of my few choices to offload it.

Unless I read your comment wrong, I believe they meant that the entire 15 lineup will be unified with every model having the DI. I wish they did away with the empty space and turned those pixels on for extra immersion.

Exactly this. It actually results in *less* usable screen space than the notch. And the animations could have been done on phones with notches. If you look closely you’ll notice that the animations never touch the notch area.

I have upgraded every single year with no regrets or remorse lol. there’s really no iPhone I didn’t look forward to.

I’ve upgraded every other year. This would have been my year but I’m still perfectly happy with my 13 Pro that has a WORK SIM in it. So I do actually still “have to deal with a SIM card!” So this year is a no-go for me.

I know the SIM slot isn‘t coming back but maybe by next year the operators will have their **** together and I won’t have to interact with them to use an eSIM.

Spot on. IMO, Apple should have just kept on shrinking the notch further, as much as technically possible, while keeping it at the very top, creating a more gapless effect.

No you read it right, but after reading your comment I think I read the original quote wrong. I interpreted it as they were using the gap between the two as the space for the sensor which is why I thought they were getting rid of the dots since they use that space. But I think you are right the original quote was talking about bringing dynamic island to the lower end phones too

Does the "floating" Dock on macOS drive you crazy like it does me? It's not an iPad, I do actually want that strip of screen space at the bottom. Now I turn hiding on when I didn't before because I hate seeing that one tiny strip of wallpaper beneath the Dock being completely wasted. It's not an issue on the iPad because there all apps are fullscreen so the Dock goes away as soon as you launch an app, but it was clearly modeled after it and it's not appropriate for the desktop.

Seems like that strip at the top was modeled after that as well.
