They should have made dynamic notch. I much prefer the notch over a floating pill :/It looks better than the notch but it’s useless & more intrusive.

It’s to save cost. Under display sensors are more expensive than under glass sensors.Moving components that were once hidden behind the display to a cutout seems like a step back to me.
This sounds really sad to me.Me every year: I think I'll skip this year's upgrade.
Launch Day: Me clicking the Apple store refresh page like a mad man until it opens and I can order....
Am I the only one that hasent been brainwashed by Apple Marketing? It's still a notch, a floating notch.
By the time the battery’s toast, the phone itself is usually beat up to the point I’d prefer a replacement. My previous phone (X) managed to get the keyboard burned-in to the OLED display, so re-selling it back to Apple was one of my few choices to offload it.Swapping the battery is also an option.
Unless I read your comment wrong, I believe they meant that the entire 15 lineup will be unified with every model having the DI. I wish they did away with the empty space and turned those pixels on for extra immersion. So they won’t have the green and orange dots for video and audio in it anymore I guess?
Same. But marketing is more important, I guessThey should have made dynamic notch. I much prefer the notch over a floating pill :/
I have upgraded every single year with no regrets or remorse lol. there’s really no iPhone I didn’t look forward to.Me every year: I think I'll skip this year's upgrade.

Exactly this. It actually results in *less* usable screen space than the notch. And the animations could have been done on phones with notches. If you look closely you’ll notice that the animations never touch the notch area.
No you read it right, but after reading your comment I think I read the original quote wrong. I interpreted it as they were using the gap between the two as the space for the sensor which is why I thought they were getting rid of the dots since they use that space. But I think you are right the original quote was talking about bringing dynamic island to the lower end phones tooUnless I read your comment wrong, I believe they meant that the entire 15 lineup will be unified with every model having the DI. Wow, even the wavelengths get ever slimmer! This will fit nicely with the thinner bezels.Apple supplier Finisar will shift to providing Apple with 940nm wavelength proximity sensors, compared to 1380nm for the iPhone 14 Pro.
Tim sure is extatic about margins. We're also getting slimmer margins for the display. Tim's extatic
Loved this phone. Changing the color of the trackball to match my wallpaper was cool (stupid but cool).
This sounds really sad to me.
Spot on. IMO, Apple should have just kept on shrinking the notch further, as much as technically possible, while keeping it at the very top, creating a more gapless effect.
