I do miss the live events, but mainly because of Steve Jobs and Craig Federighi. I wasn’t a fan of the videos until the last WWDC — now I think they will probably stick to this format going forward.

If the had a Jobs-level personality I’d rather see that. But with per-filmed announcements, you get a hell of a lot better, and faster, information. Some person talking about what they’re revealing gets a script and many takes. Just the way it is.

While Filming an event is good a live presentation is better and more spectacular
For the consumer and gives Apple better feedback as they announce things
Let’s compare this to a concert…would you rather watch it recorded or live????

As Apple grows and becomes ever more successful it's not surprising they also become more risk-averse. Why allow room for an embarrassing mishap like when Tesla announced the Cybertruck?

The problem is when the culture of risk-aversion seeps in and filters down throughout the organisation (starting with demos and down to everything else) the company also becomes very sterile and boring. Watching a keynote is like watching a long ad put together by marketing. And you start to wonder - does anyone make real **** anymore?

In EU it will become illegal to not offer mobile phones without a charger.
You heard this where?
The whole reason for the push to unified USB-C is so you don’t need a charger per device anymore, thereby reducing resource use and electronic waste.
If you then require one charger with every device still, you gain nothing.

Part of the problem is perhaps that the exec team is getting older and there doesn't seem to be a lot of new, younger, more passionate talent coming through. I wonder what the average age of the leadership team is today compared to, say, in 2007?
I’m starting to think being younger doesn’t mean passionate and energetic. Sadly, I think the state of the world has sucked a lot of life, enthusiasm, and creativity out of younger people.

Except…I guess I still see the entrepreneurial and creative spirit alive in the poorer communities. Whenever I go back home to my diverse, low income childhood community, I’m struck by how vibrant and energetic the vibe is. Small businesses are giving back to the community and there’s so much art everywhere. It’s the spirit and energy that I think inspired Steve Jobs back in the day. He certainly didn’t get his vision from the corporate America environment. Apple is trying to hold onto that through its developers, but reading the complaints people have had, I think they’ve done too many predatory things to some of their most creative app developers. Apple definitely feels more corporate than creative oriented.

Translation: we are cowards, and we know only a small percentage of smart people will notice, so (insert joke from an SNL skit of Celebrity Jeopardy between Alex Trebek and Sean Connery that is apparently too vulgar to display on this forum).

Tim Cook has been a very productive CEO. But come on, if you’re there to wave the checkered flag, move that arm like you mean it!
I have to agree. It was a pretty lame effort. Tim has become very robotic and predictable. Which is probably important and maybe why Steve Jobs picked him. A pair of very safe hands, with an extraordinary ability to make things grow.

I was just thinking that they have lost their creativity, but then went through a mental list of some of their products, post Jobs. And whilst the Apple Watch and the Vision Pro have or will change the landscape, they also have made peripherals like the 'floating' iPad keyboard, the very cool hinges on the studio display and several others. Cool products.

What they have lost is Pizzaz!

So whilst I am a fan of the current format, they need to step up the presentation. When the Craig joke becomes the only time my facial expression changes only slightly, the rest is like reading a glossy magazine with shiny things.
