You mean for free? People often have a hard time turning down something like this for free. Even if they don't need it, customers will still choose to get it as a backup/spare or to resell. It would kind of defeat the purpose of not including chargers with the phone.

Who is going to be happy charging one of the latest phones on a weak 5A charger?

Better yet, allow people to select which charger they want at time pf purchase; if they select none then reduce the price of the phone a little. Whichever charger they choose would be shipped separately, thus still achieving Apple's goal of making iPhone boxes weigh less.

Recording its presentations in advance allows Apple to have strict directorial control over announcements and avoid any embarrassing mishaps, while applying digital production effects and slick transitions as it segues between product unveilings.

If there's anything this Barbenheimer/MI7 summer has taught us, eschewing CGI for practical effects is a better, worthwhile endeavor. People appreciate realism, esp for a 'live' presentation.

This shows how far out-of-touch Apple and execs are from their customers and developers.
They may as well just sell them in plastic clamshell packaging at checkout counters.
I’ve finally reached the point (after 34 years with apple products) that I’m considering a non-Apple phone. If I have to spend ~$2,000 for an iPhone, I’m looking at the Galaxy Z Folds.

I find this interesting. You're willing to spend around $2000 for a phone but only if WWDC is live and in-person? o_O

I think they meant that if the iPhone is going to be $2000, they'd rather have something different (since new iPhones aren't really any different than the old ones), and hence the Z Fold. Every iPhone for generations looks like the last.

I think Apple giving customers the option to add a charger at checkout (at regular retail price) as they do now makes the most sense. What would be the point of reducing the price of the phone "a little"? Maybe Apple has already been "reducing prices a little" e.g., U.S. Pro and Pro Max prices haven't increased since they launched in 2019. Adjusting for inflation, those prices would be much higher than the cost of the cheap (for Apple) chargers they used to include.

I thought Apple's goal was more environmental i.e., reduce waste from manufacturing, packaging and shipping chargers that many customers don't really need. Yes, they also save some money in the process too.

Do people still watch these? It's a 1 minute read packed into always the same 2 hours of non-sense marketing ********.

I disagree. I treat the keynotes almost like reading the User Guide. Apple showcase so many features during their presentations, using clear examples that can be easy to relate to.

Reading threads here, I can often tell which posters have paid close attention to the details of new OS releases / new hardware – and those who haven't – by the questions they ask, of features they're unaware of.

I don't watch it anymore either. I still sometimes watch the old ones with Steve Jobs.
Me too ! The old ones from the Steve Jobs era were so fun to watch, and they still are. I keep going back to them from time to time.

It just seems like no one at Apple today really has the same on-stage charisma that Steve Jobs had. I’d say Craig is a little funny and I like his humor but.. still not quite the same as Steve.

100%. Some things are good being told in person. Tim Cook would never.. Tim Cook wants you to send him a message through Apple Vision Pro in the upcoming months.

This clip is priceless ! That’s why I love Steve.. his words always seemed like they were coming from the heart. His charisma and personality was so inspiring.. I really miss him ❤️✨
Tim Cook is a great CEO and, with no doubt, has made Apple financially successful, but he doesn’t seem to have that charisma and personality that Steve had.

I have to agree. It was a pretty lame effort. Tim has become very robotic and predictable. Which is probably important and maybe why Steve Jobs picked him. A pair of very safe hands, with an extraordinary ability to make things grow.

I was just thinking that they have lost their creativity, but then went through a mental list of some of their products, post Jobs. And whilst the Apple Watch and the Vision Pro have or will change the landscape, they also have made peripherals like the 'floating' iPad keyboard, the very cool hinges on the studio display and several others. Cool products.

What they have lost is Pizzaz!

So whilst I am a fan of the current format, they need to step up the presentation. When the Craig joke becomes the only time my facial expression changes only slightly, the rest is like reading a glossy magazine with shiny things.
I totally agree.
I think the Apple Watch and the AirPods are some good examples of a great post-Jobs success. And while Tim Cook might seem bland and boring, he’s still undoubtedly a pretty good CEO for financial stuff. Let’s not forget that Apple became the first Trillion-dollar company under him.
But yeah, he’s definitely lacking that charismatic, enthusiastic on-stage character of Steve Jobs that the keynote seems a little boring.. Like even when they talk about new products, it just doesn’t seem very exciting anymore. Steve always seemed very excited whenever he talked about a new product that he always did the live demo himself. When was the last time we actually saw Tim Cook himself doing a live demo ? 🙃
So yeah I agree, they do need to lighten up their presentations a little bit, at least make them more interesting to watch.

Also, I don’t really think Apple has lost their creativity to be honest, I think technology in general is currently at its peak. There haven’t been any major innovations from tech manufacturers for quite a while, all we have been seeing was a few incremental upgrades with every generation. It’s not just Apple, but every tech manufacturer in general.
I’m looking forward to seeing what the Vision Pro has to offer when it comes out, even though I don’t really think I’m the target there.. but I do like the tech that it has and I’m really curious to see what it can do.

Pretty much the exact argument against Vision Pro. Jobs would never have signed off on it.

Steve picked John Scully. Scully is known for the failure of Newton. Jobs also picked Cook. I believe Cook will now be remembered for the failure of Vision Pro.

😂😂. People always predict Cook will be known for the failure of <insert multi billion $ product here>. But he will be known for raising the value of an almost bankrupt company to the richest on the planet.

People were predicting the failure of the Vision Pro before it was officially announced. Then when it was, most people were like… oh.. now I get it. Wow! Not everyone will be able to afford it, sure. But not everyone can afford or Mac Pro, or an iPhone or even AirPods. But don’t worry, Someone will eventually make a half baked copy that will do many of the things Apple can do for a fraction of the price.
