I agree. They look so nice on Apple's website, but these pics make them look super cheap. I really don't like the sides.

In person they look worse than the pics even. Also feel like something you'd find in a 99 cent store in the clearance bin.

Better than taupe. Taupe will look dirty quite quickly I would guess.

hopefully the camera cut out against the black case will look ok. never liked white phone with black case for that reason.

I just watched a couple reviews. That fine woven case material looks like utter garbage. Easily damaged, scuffed, etc. I just placed an order for Mujjo leather case in Monaco Blue. I'll be returning the Fine woven case I ordered. That's so sad and disappointing.

As someone who had it in my hands when it was delivered yesterday, can confirm it is utter garbage.

Mine will be going back as well once FedEx comes by to grab it.

At best the fine woven should have replaced the silicon case line not the leather cases

I ordered a blue FW and silicone case. The FW is going back. It's not my thing. I wanted to like it but I don't think its worth the price. The color is nice, though! Definitely darker than the photos in the Apple Store app.

I have a few leather cases from Amazon coming (blue and brown). Hoping one works out.

Those look nice - $100 Canadian is a bit of an ouch but if I'm getting a $1500+ phone might as well protect it!

This is bizarre. Complaining FineWoven can be scratched. Bring back leather etc.

Leather is also prone to scratching. My car interior has some battle wounds. On a case, those scratches are what overtime help with the patina.

That being said, my Pro 12 leather case doesn’t have a single scratch on it. But then equally…

As I’ve said, Fine Woven may prove not to age well. But we don’t know that yet. Ripping one apart proves nothing. But if you’d prefer a leather case that looks like my one above, good for you. I’d rather take my chances on seeing how the FW ages and more importantly, if it stays together.

And as was said above, why would anyone complain that FW has a soft foam under it to make it more comfortable?

Long term it may end up that FW is junk. No denying that, and we’ll find out in time. But Apples leather cases have been rubbish for 3 years now. That seems to have been forgotten.

Thanks for posting this! I got lost in all the negativity.

At the end of the day, it’s just a phone case and if people think it’s too expensive, poor quality or doesn’t suit their needs, they can move onto something else. So many options out there.

I personally would not keep commenting on a thread about a case I have no interest in.

I returned my fine woven case today as it seems cheap and nasty.. As for the wallets, well my leather midnight blue wallet is still in pristine condition after a year and I purchased an Apple brown leather wallet on eBay as a back up. Brand new but half the retail price. There is no way that I am going to purchase a fine woven wallet after my experience of the case

I also already have mine + the wallet and will give them a chance. Yes, they don’t look as sturdy as the leather ones. Last year everybody on this forum cried how bad the Apple leather cases where.
Now everybody cries how bad the fine woven cases are, but no one has tried it at least for an hour on the phone…

Wait…so we’re supposed to pay 60 bucks to help Apple test stuff? I think not. Let’s just admit that once in a blue moon, Apple releases something that is a dud, a fail. And in this particular case, an abomination they should be ashamed of.

Oh, so naive. Like it or not, Apple is often testing technologies in its devices that are mostly intended for bigger use in future devices, and people pay thousands for it!

Lidar in iPad Pros (prefigured iPhone camera features and Reality Pro)
OLED displays in watches (prefigured larger OLEDs on iPhone and iPad)
Sapphire screens on watches (never made it to iPhones)
ARKit for iPad and iPhone (getting ready for Reality Pro)
and lots of other examples.

FineWoven accessories are probably just another item on that list, whether it gets bigger use in a car interior or fades away in favor of other materials over time.

I personally would not keep commenting on a thread about a case I have no interest in.

The people commenting negatively about the case include those who purchased it and are returning it. Should they say nothing because they don’t have anything positive to say? You want an echo chamber of compliments?

I thought it was really nice actually. The reason I always went with Apple leather despite better quality leather alternatives was how slim the case was and how great the buttons were. I was never focused on the leather quality.

The FineWoven retains these qualities. Personally, the YouTube videos circulated are egregious. I remember a Nomad case that you could simply peel off the leather. Scuffs? Okay, it’s a phone case.

I’m not saying it should be $60 or not as I thought that was high for the leather too. However, it retains the best qualities of the previous leather case IMO. Emphasis on IMO.

Edit: it’s like JerryRigEverything takes a razor blade and lighter to a phone. Does it show a weakness? Sure. Is it outside of normal use cases? Yes. My normal use case will likely not show any difference between the previous leather and this. And I get the weight, slimness, and buttons of what I want.

You’ve made your point, numerous times across numerous threads. Why not move on?

The case is fine and some really like it. There are thousands of options that you may find acceptable for a case. Neither Apple’s Silicone or historical leather were the hallmarks of durability yet people like them. Why? Probably for several of the reasons I stated.

Received mine today, I like the feel and thinness but I immediately left a scratch in it that I couldn't get out (or over). I was kind of excited for these new cases, but I'll be going with another brand this year. At $40 I'd be okay with this, but $63 USD after tax is a no from me, dawg.

May pick up either a Benks ArmorAir or Nomad leather case. Hmm...

Definitely liking the color and the feel in hand (better grip than silicone) but very uncertain about how it will hold up in every day use. I wish someone would make a good fitting leather case that doesn’t weigh a ton. There’s still nothing like the feel of leather. And Apple up until this point has made the best fitting MagSafe leather cases.
