As many have mentioned, Coconut battery can be used to calculate battery cycles. For those who wish to see it on device without any custom software can now do so.

Great, now even more paranoids obsessing over their battery health. The Apple Discussion Forums are already teeming with questions about why their battery health dropped 1% in a month and demanding to know how to 'restore' it to 100%. Explaining how Li-ion batteries work doesn't help alleviate the paranoia.

So how do you who want this plan to 'manage' your charge cycles?

I believe this feature to read battery cycles for all supported will come in future iOS 17.1 or 17.2 beta. But it won’t come to iPadOS simply because iPad users don’t deserve it after overpaying for their devices.

These new battery improvements (charging up to 80% and now the cycle counter) are cool and useful and all, however Apple should also extend them to other models to avoid a justified customer backlash. They can bring it in in stages, if needed, as it was done with the battery % display over the battery icon, but IMO it should go for as many battery powered Apple devices as possible - iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and Apple Watch.

To all the people complaining how they can't get a new iOS feature on their older phone -- How many Android phones have backwards compatible upgrades? Barely can even get the newest OS more than a few years with them. Be grateful.

Oh stop; this is something they can backport on **already supported devices**; it's not like they have to make a whole new OS for a 4-year-old device that's unsupported, like on Android. The battery already knows this data, and it's revealed when you run basic diag on an iPhone

How many of those mentioned android phones cost 2k plus?

Great. Now bring battery health to the iPad. It already knows this data as Apple can tell you the battery health after MRI has been run.

Just great people already paranoid about the battery health percentage now charge cycles.....

This will be a major determining factor for resells now too. It already is for MacBooks and if your battery cycle count is too high the value will definitely drop.

I've always found the battery percentage thing weird anyway. I charge my phone all the time and every year my battery is at 100%. I run the beta software every year and even this year with the 14 and all of the people who were affected by battery percentage dips mine remained at 100%.
