Don’t forget, assuming you have a WiFi 6e and at least 1GB broadband. You can achieve around 1.1GB download speeds via WiFi

best wifi speed I've ever seen myself...

I tried this out by plugging my 15 pro into a dock hooked up to Ethernet. Got blazing fast speeds but oddly when doing the speed test I could hear an audible whine coming from the lower part of the phone. As soon as the test stopped, the whine stopped.

Work provided computer requires ethernet connection. When Iphone is providing hotspot via ethernet, does it look to computer as regular ethernet provided by a cable provider?

Could you confirm that Apple still doesn’t allow Hotspot to be output from the iPhone via USB-C to Ethernet?

According to this article there is a new hidden Ethernet menu in Settings when Ethernet is attached. I don’t suppose there is anything in Personal Hotspot about Ethernet out?

As per posts above WiFi can be better than wired if you have 6E. Depends, of course, on the reliability of your WiFi network.

Depends on how you define better. Wifi will have more latency and a larger variability in speed.

Possible depending on your installation. I have the same latency as Ethernet (18 ms) vs 6E (19 ms). Wifi speed variability can be a problem if you are competing with others but at the early stages of rollout not likely to happen. I see ~80 networks in my vicinity but I am the only one on a 6E channel so no variability problem as yet.

I'm paying for 1200mbps with Xfinity and I never saw 1200mbps when I did a speed test. I just did a speed test off my Macbook Air M2 and it is 198mbps I'm paying 1200.

There's always a bigger fish ;)

1. MacBook Air 2 only has WiFi 6, not 6E, so the maximum connection speed would be ~930 Mbps in ideal conditions.

2. If you are getting that slow a rate right next to the modem then something is wrong.

You do know they sell ethernet lightning adaptors too right?
I remember using the one I have for my Nintendo Switch with my iPhone. But was thinking it might have just been on my iPad. Maybe I am remembering it work on my iPhone too. It was a USB-A to Ethernet adapter connected to the Camera Connection kit.

Lots of other things also work with Lightning that people thought only worked on the iPhone 15. Like video out. A surprisingly amount of people didn't know I can connect older iPhones to a monitor. Or connecting my camera to it, or charging my old bluetooth keyboard (MS Universal Mobile Keyboard charges fine through Lightning).

This is all just getting a lot of press now because USB-C. Might as well generate more clicks for that sweet, sweet ad revenue while they can.

Of course lightning could do all of that, but the point was, very few people tried. USB-C accessories are plentiful, which is why people are just saying "why not" and giving them a try.
Lightning accessories were also more expensive, generally.
