The 5X periscope zoom is an optical zoom. The zoom mechanism moves perpendicular to the sensor and lens instead of parallel like on a camera. Wow good catch, I stand corrected! The picture in the MacRumors article shows the iPhone in landscape. The cameras aren't rotated.

Maybe adding the periscope lens to the smaller 15 Pro necessitated a larger body, but Apple wasn’t ready to release the redesigned, slightly larger body this year. Also suppliers may give them a better deal next year so then it would make sen$e for Tim to wait until next year to let both models have it.So is the 15 Pro going to have the same crappy sensor that the 13 & 14 had for the 3x telephoto? That really makes it a hard sell IMO.
EU may not have allowed Apple to launch iPhone 15 series either. Not sure if EU agrees to this.
All about the environment baby lol /sNew case designs again 🤨🙄
Or not.New case designs again 🤨🙄
I think you’re right about the P30 Pro.You‘re both wrong, sorry. If it was a real optical zoom, the specs would describe the zoom range (like the Sony XPeria one). Periscope on the other phones is just a way to make a longer fixed focal length work.
Of course it's just to boost the Max sales. I'm always super sad when people delude themselves to believe that some things have different reasons that just $$$. A huge chunk of Apple's fanbase is deluded. That’s such a naive statement. Apple is limiting this feature to the pro Max just because it is greedy and wants to segment the market pushing people to more expensive models. Nothing to do with technical reasons.
Precisely. It's baffling when anyone at all fails to see this. That’s such a naive statement. Apple is limiting this feature to the pro Max just because it is greedy and wants to segment the market pushing people to more expensive models. Nothing to do with technical reasons.
I really wonder when a truly better camera system offering better optical zoom will come to the Pro line of phones. That’s the feature I’m most looking toward to for an upgrade. Pro Max size is typically too large.
Big, bigger and heavier.
It's time for Apple to do a 180, and focus on a lighter phone... compared to "mini".
And getting lighter and lighter.
The iPhone Light.
appl is coming with it 5yrs too late and 5-6x is too small appl needs to be competitive with samsung and get a 10x maybe that will be next yrI don't care AT ALL about the camera, I'd rather have a Pro Max size phone with a 5S camera so there's no bump.
I know you were trying to flex with that photo, but it has poor image quality at best. You should have used samsung because they artificially fake moon images.appl is coming with it 5yrs too late and 5-6x is too small appl needs to be competitive with samsung and get a 10x maybe that will be next yr
