I feel switching to USB-C is good but it doesn’t solve the mess of different cables and standards.
Why should apple be on the hook for EU regulations? They shouldn’t. But I agree apple should just take the lightning cables and recycle them after you buy a usb c cable from apple. Win-win.Hey Apple, do a trade-in program for all lightning cables to convert them into USB-C cables.
Then you can safely recycle all those lightning cables instead of people tossing them in the trash.
It'd avoid a lot of e-waste since you "care about the environment" so much!
What's that? No, cause it'd cut into your profits?
Oh yeah, the real thing you care about.
It looks like the periscope will be exclusive to the 15 Pro Max/Ultra and become available with the regular-sized 16 Pro model in 2024.I’m excited for the periscope lens. My prediction is the Pro will get 8GB of RAM to support 8K recording and thunderbolt support with the USB-C port.
I don’t think people should expect that their devices will get more than 4 major firmware updates. Not every Apple device can be supported like the 6s.Eventually Apple is just gonna have to make people more angry then they already are. I don't think the new 10th gen iPad is gonna get to iOS 21. 4gb Ram is gonna be a bottleneck sooner rather than later.
it will be optical up to 5x/6x and after that will be all digital. the zoom you mentioned is not being used by anybody as far as im aware.so, the rumored "periscope" lens - will that offer real zoom or will it be "static" just like today's 3x?
real zoom meaning you can optically zoom from 1x - 10x vs what is offered today is digitally done
Apple offers free cable/cord recycling.Hey Apple, do a trade-in program for all lightning cables to convert them into USB-C cables.
Then you can safely recycle all those lightning cables instead of people tossing them in the trash.
It'd avoid a lot of e-waste since you "care about the environment" so much!

I wouldn’t fault apple for not supporting the base model products for 5 years from launch with software updates. Flagship devices should get at least 5 from launch.I don’t think people should expect that their devices will get more than 4 major firmware updates. Not every Apple device can be supported like the 6s.
If that is what it will offer it will be a buy for me day 1it will be optical up to 5x/6x and after that will be all digital. the zoom you mentioned is not being used by anybody as far as im aware.
I’ve put a big black silhouette at the top of my wallpaper so I could have a Dynamic Continent.but will it have a dynamic peninsula or a still dynamic island?
Likewise, I’m currently rocking an iPhone X as my daily driver and holding out for next years models.I think it’s already clear just looking at the current generation that next year is the one to jump on. This year screams transitional.
I agree, it is interesting. I’m sure Apple will provide a dongle to ease the transition so people don’t have to buy new accessories but I get you. It's kind of ironic when you think about it. The whole point of that European law was to reduce e-waste, but lots of people will have to buy brand new chargers and accessories. I don't even mind the switch to USB-C, I welcome it. But the irony of the law is funny.
Nothing had USB C in 2013, the first phone to have it was in 2015. It's the current port on virtually everything on the planet, there's nothing "aged" about USB C.
Interesting point. One thing with Apple switching to USB-C is it's more common where lightning is proprietary but it doesn't solve the mess of cable variants (AppleInsider article) and people not knowing what speed cable they are getting / have. If that could be solved that would help greatly I feel.It is a very old fashioned and cheap port though. The sort you get on Androids of a certain age. It’s VERY 2013. After Apple is done with their superior lightning port, they will just go portless. They would never lower themselves to use such a cheap port on their most important products. Remember that people buy iPhones as they are a premium product and people are willing to pay more. I think there’s more chance of Apple going back to the 30 pin port than the usb c which is so beloved by Android
