yep

They say the pro will get it in 2024 instead. I can only assume this is due to supply and them wanting it on their bigger and more expensive model. Makes me think if they will bring it to the 6.1 pro as to fit it in a smaller body won't be easy.

I wouldn't even buy an iPhone SE, if it wasn't vastly over-serving me. The Nokia 3210 did everything I needed from a phone. Even play Snake to kill some time.

Gimme a reason to want your product!
You mistake yourself for the market.

Sales figures show that people do want the product.

Not enough to buy a new phone every year. At this point everybody in the world already has a phone, even some isolated Amazon tribes without electricity. But only a quarter of a billion people upgraded to a newer iPhone model in 2021, 7.75 billion people didn't. 97% of the market didn't want the iPhone enough to buy it. The vast majority of people are keeping their old phone and of those who bought a new phone 72% chose another brand. So the new highlight features like Dynamic Island and Calling for Help via Satellite when I'm Lost in the Arctic did by no means sway the whole market. Lot's of people don't care enough to spend money.

so now because i waited for a periscope and still with my X,
i'll have to get the Ultra and pay extra for a screen size i don't need o_O

According to Newton's first law of motion, an object with a given velocity maintains that velocity unless acted on by an external force.

If the object is Apple and the velocity is a function of the hype created by the late Steve, then I expect to see the friction of common sense put a halt to the inertia-driven overvaluation in the not so distant future.

Apple is a company that’s become tiresome to follow, due to the painful transition from excitement and innovation to functional mundanity over the last 11 years.

They’ve established themselves as “tech fashion” to the passive consumer and simultaneously enjoying a period of lacklustre competition, but both of those variables are fickle.

i'm sure people will moan when the 15 pro will not get the extended zoom of the pericope lens next year. To get that people will need to buy the ultra.
Kuo wrote about “pro max”. Maybe ultra with periscope lens comes with iPhone 16. They can still improve the telephoto cam for iPhone 15, new improved 3nm A17 (8K recording?) and USB-C will be a big change many were waiting for.

Mate, it's literally the most commercially successful product ever created.

Just traded my Note 9 for a spare iPhone Xr and replaced the battery.

Might just go for the a 15 Pro when all the bugs are stomped on, maybe 1st Qtr 2024.

Still don't feel a need for a 14 Pro with all the nice operating bonuses of iOS 16 on the Xr, vs old Android and strung out boot up and only some security upgrades on Note 9.

Really just a year over year spec bump. USBC should have been already out. Yet now Apple wants to force Pro Pricing to get Incremental upgrades.
The real issue is, this is not just a 'yawn' for people who don't upgrade EVERY year, just to get some new 'shiny-shiny' toy.

I went from a iPhone X to 14 Pro Max and the SOS Emergency feature is what got me to upgrade. I'm not a year to year person. Yeah I was kinda envious with the widescreen cameras, better night shots, but to me it wasn't that compelling. Hardware wise, push the envelope and figure out how to make that camera lens not so honking humongous of a bump. I feel like ripping it out every time I look at the pretty shiny back of the phone. LOL... maybe arrange them in a row or something. It just looks like a slapped on piece of KIT glued on the back.

They didn't so much push customers to Pro models, they simply pushed customers away from being willing to pay the brand new 14 price for what is essentially a 13. If they want to sell non-Pro, they'll have to cut the price to match the feature cut.

I bet it'll have a USB-C connecter to abide by EU laws, but not really implement the USB data protocol, so no hubs, external storage device, device-to-device transfer, etc.

The 14/+ are mostly just there as a stepping stone, and customers fall for it. If the only choices were Pro PM @ $1k+, people would think it's too much. But you add a middleman at a more affordable price, suddenly it's only $X more. People suddenly don't realize you're still paying the same price for the higher model.

Soooo…
New chip = snooze
USB-C = yawn
Solid State buttons = nobody cares
Camera spec bump = REM Sleep
Increased RAM = Coma

If these rumors are supposed to get our juices for the 15 Pro flowing ….They don’t.
What is it you'd like? A teleporting, origami folding, dslr phone with quantum computation?

Why do you think you need to buy a new phone every year? Even Apple doesn’t expect you to buy a new phone every year. Of course there are not enough changes every year to justify buying a new model. That’s not how it works. There are changes each year and, after a few years, the changes add up to a significant improvement worth an upgrade. You don’t have to just eat the one marshmallow in front of you.

What envelope are they pushing with the specific features listed in the OP? USB-C is old news for phones, Apple is still using tech that has USB 2 speeds. Faster CPU? That is a given and how much will that really change how you work on your phone? I don't notice any difference in web page and app loading on my 13 as I did with my XR or 11, they are all plenty fast for regular use. More RAM, ok again Apple just being slow to the game again and a normal upgrade you would expect to see in a new device. Soild state buttons would be nice if it meant they could actually make a waterproof phone, doubt we will see that though and this to me seems more like a gimmick that does not really alter or improve how I already use my phone. Better camera is expected and should happen.
My Xs max is still pretty okay for everyday use. It has enough memory, speed is decent, camera is okay enough. My 14 PM though puts my Xs max to shame as far as speed, responsiveness, screen and camera.

However whatever apple has planned for the iPhone 15, the people who bought the 14 will be saying the same as the people who bought the 13 wanted to upgrade to the 14.
