I'm all for removing the mute button and instead move the mute feature into the Control Panel. At least in there it is not going to be accidentally activated. I've lost count of the amount of times I have accidentally switched the mute switch.

I fear that an Action Button (with it been a button) will be more easier to accidentally press, and it to then perform the feature/option that you have assigned to it. https://machancecasino3.com/

Totally agree with you.
It's really annoying when you accidentally turn off the sound. Therefore, I fully support the changes.

If switching the mute switch to an action button means we’ll finally be able to get rid of the camera and flashlight shortcuts from the Lock Screen I’m all for it. Sick and tired of accidentally activating those buttons.
Yours actually work? When I tap either the camera or flashlight icon nothing happens...

Not sure why this is needed. We have the tap on the back on the phone and I don't see it being popular at all. I wonder how is this going to be different. Hopefully it will be pretty cool in order to kill such an iconic part from the iPhone :(

So does this mean we don't get a mute button? I hope you can change that in the settings

My phone is permanently on mute, I don't even know what ringtone I have. So the mute switch is useless to me.
I'd love to have it a toggle for dnd or something else. I welcome this change.

I was holding out for the 15PM.. but when I saw the news about these changes. I wasn’t happy so I got the 14PM could not be happier. Battery is great, and it’s the last iPhone with a mute switch , RIP

I am tired of the craziness ordering and not always making the opening day and the having conflicts with my travel in october. I think it’s time to start leaving the iUP program and enjoy my 14 ProMax. Save money and maybe order a 16 or 17 ProMax on my schedule rather than this craziness. We shall see
I'm not in iUP but I've been upgrading annually since iPhone 4 which I held for 3 years. This is the first time since then I'm completely content with what I have, a purple 14 Pro Max.

For once, everything works as well as I would hope, the camera performance has been excellent, I won the lottery on components/quality control, and I haven't lost my enthusiasm for the color. I have some sensitivity to the pwm of the OLED display, but it's tolerable. Having the latest Samsung, I know the modem could be a little better but it's not enough to drive a wish to upgrade anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm going to join you sitting out the upgrade madness this year. It's a nice feeling. Like I said, I haven't felt this way since my iPhone 4. I had to be talked into letting that phone go in trade and honestly, I regretted it.

I love my mute switch, so I'm not ready to part with it yet. I'll see how the new action button works out for everyone.

Well said we have the same ideas and yeah our 14 ProMax’s do so much it’s going to be harder for apple to convince me to get back into annual updating. Yep I use and like my little mute switch all the time and not ready to part with it on a phone model that I am very pleased and content with. Let them experiment with the 15 and then 16 and I will see if there are features that draw me. I find the cameras really do what I want and the increased magnification does not excite me at moment.

It's usually not a bad idea to hold off on the first year of a significant redesign. If they add the periscope lens, for example, it might take them some tweaking of the software to get it optimal.

With my iPhone 13 Pro I felt like a lot of things were close to where I wanted them to be after iPhone 12 Pro Max, and with 14 Pro Max I feel like everything came together.

With the 12's I ran across 3 different phones with serious display defects and with the 13 Pro, my camera had the focus hunting issues some other people ran across and the photos looked way too processed.

My 14 Pro Max photos can still look over processed at times, but overall I've been really pleased with the camera performance.

I've gone through the growing pains Samsung had with periscope lenses. They've got it pretty well refined in the s23 Ultra, but the first generation they introduced that feature, the software struggled to get acceptable results. The next generation was better. Last year was finally good. This year it's very good.

So I think if you're going to pause for a bit with one model, it's good to do so with a phone that is a culmination of all the refinements to the initial redesign.

I think the iPhone 15 Pro will be good. But after seeing people struggle with carriers as a result of being forced over to e Sims in the US, I'm not eager anymore to embrace every change Apple introduces the first year they introduce it.
