Yeah, I really hope this rumor is false. I'd rather keep the lightning port than lose my mute switch. Having a physical switch to make SURE my phone won't make a peep, or ensure that it WILL when I put it down and walk away from it, is important.

Change for the sake of change sucks.
I think it will provide enough Haptic Feedback that can be double checked with a quick toggle off/on (the way the switch currently works). The current Mute switch has so many ways to be overridden, like VIP callers and Find My, that when I truly want my phone silent I have to turn on DND & AirPlane mode, check I don’t have any alarms set, etc. I just end up turning my phone off in theatres 😅.

If the USB-C port supports USB4, consider me excited for that. I'm coming from a 12 Pro Max, so everything else is going to be a leap above what I'm used to.

I really hope they hold off on the eSIM-only transition for another year or two. There are still so many prepaid MVNOs in Europe which don't support it at all, it would genuinely hurt iPhone sales.

I'd love to get rid of SIMs, it's clearly a technology on its way out, but you have to contend with the reality that plenty of carriers are dragging their feet.

I plan to buy another iPhone 13 mini in early September so I have an iPhone with a SIM card slot for a few more years of international travel. eSims do NOT exist in many third world countries.....

Will also enter the feeding frenzy for the maxed out iPhone 15 Pro Max which I think could be close to $1,800 retail as the loaded iPhone 14 Pro Max scaled at $1,599 this last year. These prices do not include extended Apple Care + and local sales tax.

A secure carrying case will become mandatory.

I’ll just leave this here …

No one knows for sure if Apple invented the USB-C port or not.

But if they didn’t have a hand in it, then I’m pretty sure you’d have to check it was the right way up before inserting it.

The only thing I really care about is thinner bezels and the titanium frame. Fingerprints are a real bitch on the iPhone currently.

Take my money! I'm looking forward to throwing away (or recycling) every fraying (and non fraying) Lightning cable in our household.

One thing I wish iOS would support is 360 images. I've used a 360 camera for many years and I have to go to Google Photos to see the images in a 360 format. Maybe this will change once Apple Vision Pro is released?

I'm ready for a Red iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple and a bunch of other companies/engineers according to

"All told, Apple contributed 18 of 79 named engineers listed on the connector certification project or under 23%."

I'll just leave this here...Apple did not invent USB-C. I hate to break it to you. Please show me the solely Apple owned patent of USB-C, with "USB-C" typed/written in the patent. And I'm not talking about a USB-C "connector". I'll wait (not really, because it doesn't exist). Oh and spare me any reference to Cult of Mac or any other Apple shill website. Thanks in advance.

Am I the only one that groans at the possibility of thinner bezels? Apple loves making things look good at the expense of making them hard to protect.

My phones go directly into a case with a screen protector and they save me every year.

I was just on a flight home a few weeks ago had my phone propped against the seat in front of me when the dude slammed himself against his seat for whatever reason sent my phone flying and cracked the screen protector. Had a new one applied as soon as I got home.
The bezels are under the same piece of glass that covers the screen. Shrinking the bezels a little more won’t have any impact on your case’s and screen protector’s abilities to protect the glass.

Sounds like a decent upgrade for my 12pro max. I’m totally fine with 3 year upgrade cycle nowadays. This was the first phone I’m doing 3 year on I was always on 2 year since the 3g iPhone.

Wow, I haven't seen this much innovation in a loooooong time! 🤣 I am sure Tim Apple will hop on stage and say that Apple just invented the USB-C port as well.
Nah, USB-C and all USB-related trademarks are owned by the evil non-for-profit USB Implementers Forum. That should prevent Apple from *offering* USB-C Pro, Max or Ultra, even if they try to smuggle some authentication chip in their USB-C port (good luck with that in Europe by the way).

Still having a physical SIM card slot makes your 13PM a keeper, IMO. At least until more carriers get onboard with eSIM support... unless you don't travel much.
True, but my travels outside the US are rather limited these days

To me it looks like Apple is thinking they have people locked in enough with their services and ecosystem so they can stop innovating with their hardware, the iPhone have had slow progress for years. Not sure if the ecosystem is enough to keep me with Apple when there’s loads of new cool things from other manufacturers these days.

You know what’s sad about this comment?

Do you place your iPhone into a case? If you do place your iPhone into a case YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN ABOUT FINGERPRINTS.

If you don’t place your iPhone into a case THEN YOU SHOULD PRIORITIZE GRIP OVER FINGERPRINTS AND TITANIUM WILL BE EXCEEDINGLY SLIPPERY COMPARED TO THE STAINLESS STEEL.

How people don’t think I just will never ever ever understand.

I do not use a case since the iPhone X in 2017 because THATS WHEN THE PHONES GOT GRIPPY MATERIAL DESIGN. Now I’m absolutely sickened that the iPhone 15 Pro will become a slippery piece of garbage again. And by the way, the shiny stainless steel looks about a million times more premium than brushed metal. Ever see a matte automobile? No you haven’t because shiny is about a billion times better looking for automobiles and so too for phones.

I hope the new Pro/Max has an awesome color we haven’t seen before. Come on, Apple, knock it out of the park!

my iphone x on its last legs. right side of the screen doesnt work anymore have to turn the phone sideways to text. this cantt come soon enough

The stainless sides are already very slippery I dont see how doing the sides in something a little bit more slippery will change it much. I never use cases and dont have issues with holding the phone.
it’s the back that matters for grip not the sides.
the frost backs are super slippery. Id prefer to have normal glass on the back because it has much more grip then the pros.
