I’m really surprised that people think that titanium frame will make the phone lighter if you could peel the stainless steel band off it would weigh hardly anything. It’s all the glass etc that makes the phones heavy. Also titanium is not as scratch resistant so it’ll be interesting to see what version one of the titanium band will be like at the end of a year. Yeah if you come in for an iPhone X this year is a good update, but if anyone’s got a 13 or 14 and thinks this is a must have device Apple’s got you wrapped around their little finger.

it’s such a boring update all iPhones pretty much are now. I can’t tell the difference between a 12 and a 14 pro speed wise and ios 16 has been so buggy it’s horrible and the pro 6.1“ always has the worst battery life even though it’s the most sensible for me to use as a disabled person because I can’t hold a massive phone It’s is bad enough with the 14 pro as it is with its thin bezels I keep touching apps and making everything jiggle so reducing the bezel more is just gonna make that even more annoying And Apple USB C will fray just as easily as lightning ones and get loose pretty quickly too.

Battery life on the 14 pro is awful and it’s not gonna be any better on the new version Unless you buy a small dinner tray for a phone. Every year we get “a new CPU will make battery life last even longer” it never does. I have awful battery life. Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but I actually use my to talk on and it has appalling echo something all iPhones seem to suffer from now on then and it just eats battery life.

I think I’ll wait and see how this titanium thing goes because honestly it’s gonna get scuffed so badly and it’s not gonna make the phone that much lighter the band around the phone is not exactly big if it was the whole back fair enough but it’s not Possible reason I would buy this year, it’s because I really don’t want to get ever have an iPhone with an apple modem or no sim slot in the EU but the fact that Apple doesn’t even play fair with USB see speeds on usb C and will limit them on the cheaper phones just irks me even more.

Yeah, it's actually the battery that probably has the most weight to it. And they are increasing it this year. Maybe the move to titanium was to offset some of that additional weight from the bigger battery

The stainless sides are already very slippery I dont see how doing the sides in something a little bit more slippery will change it much. I never use cases and dont have issues with holding the phone.
it’s the back that matters for grip not the sides.
the frost backs are super slippery. Id prefer to have normal glass on the back because it has much more grip then the pros.
Buddy the stainless steel sides are EXTREMELY grippy. You have no idea what you’re talking about. However you are correct that Apple’s unbelievably stupid move to matte glass back made the phones much more slippery again thankfully they retained the grippy stainless steel band UNTIL NOW.

Now the phone will be a completely slippery piece of trash like the old all-aluminum phones. They have more premium material now, but just as slippery.

So embarrassingly sad that Apple’s stupidity combined with the stupidity of consumers drove them to switch to matte material design which results in slippery low-friction surfaces to human hands.

The only thing I really really want is the return of the rounded edges.

Have you held a Pro and a non-Pro iPhone 12-14? The Pros are much heavier. What’s the biggest difference between the two as far as materials?

I'll just leave this here...Apple did not invent USB-C. I hate to break it to you. Please show me the solely Apple owned patent of USB-C, with "USB-C" typed/written in the patent. And I'm not talking about a USB-C "connector". I'll wait (not really, because it doesn't exist). Oh and spare me any reference to Cult of Mac or any other Apple shill website. Thanks in advance.
My dude, USB-C _is_ the connector.

I have no idea if Apple designed the USB-C connector, or were at least partially involved, but given Lightning predates it (first products released in 2012; USB-C spec was published in 2014) and is based on a similar concept of being a reversible connector with variable protocol support behind it, they could at least have served as the inspiration.

Dare I say it, “The iPhone 15 is more evolutionary that revolutionary?”

Last "revolution" was iPhone X - it really was head and shoulders above everything else - including previous iPhones.

Would be great to see another such revolution. I doubt we see that before there is a foldable iPhone.

Am I the only one that groans at the possibility of thinner bezels? Apple loves making things look good at the expense of making them hard to protect.

My phones go directly into a case with a screen protector and they save me every year.

I was just on a flight home a few weeks ago had my phone propped against the seat in front of me when the dude slammed himself against his seat for whatever reason sent my phone flying and cracked the screen protector. Had a new one applied as soon as I got home.
Why would you groan at the possibility then? It shouldn't matter what apple decides to do if you put a protector on it and stick it in a case anyway.

You know what’s sad about this comment?

Do you place your iPhone into a case? If you do place your iPhone into a case YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN ABOUT FINGERPRINTS.

If you don’t place your iPhone into a case THEN YOU SHOULD PRIORITIZE GRIP OVER FINGERPRINTS AND TITANIUM WILL BE EXCEEDINGLY SLIPPERY COMPARED TO THE STAINLESS STEEL.

How people don’t think I just will never ever ever understand.

I do not use a case since the iPhone X in 2017 because THATS WHEN THE PHONES GOT GRIPPY MATERIAL DESIGN. Now I’m absolutely sickened that the iPhone 15 Pro will become a slippery piece of garbage again. And by the way, the shiny stainless steel looks about a million times more premium than brushed metal. Ever see a matte automobile? No you haven’t because shiny is about a billion times better looking for automobiles and so too for phones.
1) I don't use a case.
2) I'm not worried about it being slippery because I know how to operate my fingers.

USB-C is a connector system. Also, a connector connects, let's not forget about the port. Regardless, Apple doesn't solely have the patent on USB-C. Therefore, they did not invent it.

Why is this article not highlighting the sixth significant differential of the 15 family? almost 2 days battery life!
up to 20% bigger battery + more efficient components (processes, modem chip, and display chip) This will be the biggest battery improvement in the history of the iPhone

Titanium of course sounds very cool, but its utility is that it has a high strength to weight ratio. Not that it is as strong or hard as steel. I'd rather have a steel phone and deep sea submersible submarine than titanium.
Same. The Titanium Powerbook was one of the flimsiest cases ever.

Cases have to actually hold the device and leave room for the screen protector. Smaller bezels bigger screen protector less edge for a case to hold onto. This was a pretty big issue a few years ago where cases would push against screen protectors and end up causing bubbles.

Having a physical switch to make SURE my phone won't make a peep, or ensure that it WILL when I put it down and walk away from it, is important.
I used to think so as well, until I realized I almost never touch the mute switch. My phone is on silent 99% of the time - months at a time continuously. Only in the rare situation where I am expecting an important call I cannot miss but it is not scheduled and there is a moment when I cannot have the phone in my pocket (e.g., working out, showering), then I'll temporarily turn on the ringer. That's it! I've touched the mute switch 6 times tops in the 3 years of owning my 12pro.

Seems pretty silly to have a physical control for something I use so rarely. Physical controls should be for something used often. And the mute switch, at least for me, is the opposite of that - used so seldom it might as well not even be there.

I feel like with the flat screen of the iphones 12-14 it's pretty easy for the protector manufacturers to make them just the right size to accommodate for cases. That may of course change if the 15 lineup goes back to more curved edges.
