Periscope zoom on the Pro Max will be my main reason for upgrading over everything else.
yep, that's the one feature that might make me upgrade, if it is optical zoom, which I am not yet convinced about.
2 months and a bit to go ...

I used to think so as well, until I realized I almost never touch the mute switch. My phone is on silent 99% of the time - months at a time continuously. Only in the rare situation where I am expecting an important call I cannot miss but it is not scheduled and there is a moment when I cannot have the phone in my pocket (e.g., working out, showering), then I'll temporarily turn on the ringer. That's it! I've touched the mute switch 6 times tops in the 3 years of owning my 12pro.

Seems pretty silly to have a physical control for something I use so rarely. Physical controls should be for something used often. And the mute switch, at least for me, is the opposite of that - used so seldom it might as well not even be there.
agree, my phone is always on mute. the only time that it gets unmatched, uted is when I take it out of the case ... for me, a setting of mute on/off would be better ...

Wow, I haven't seen this much innovation in a loooooong time! 🤣 I am sure Tim Apple will hop on stage and say that Apple just invented the USB-C port as well.
If Apple & Intel didn't work on Thunderbolt USB would be lagging behind in speeds.
Thunderbolt kicked USB's ass.
So we should give some credit to Apple & Intel.
USB 4.0 is basically same as Thunderbolt 3.0 ?
Still lagging.
waiting for USB 4.0, gen 2 to catch up to thunderbolt.

USB C port better give me thunderbolt 4.0 speeds, i transfer TBs of data evry day from my phone to MBP :)

I’m really surprised that people think that titanium frame will make the phone lighter if you could peel the stainless steel band off it would weigh hardly anything. It’s all the glass etc that makes the phones heavy. Also titanium is not as scratch resistant so it’ll be interesting to see what version one of the titanium band will be like at the end of a year. Yeah if you come in for an iPhone X this year is a good update, but if anyone’s got a 13 or 14 and thinks this is a must have device Apple’s got you wrapped around their little finger.

it’s such a boring update all iPhones pretty much are now. I can’t tell the difference between a 12 and a 14 pro speed wise and ios 16 has been so buggy it’s horrible and the pro 6.1“ always has the worst battery life even though it’s the most sensible for me to use as a disabled person because I can’t hold a massive phone It’s is bad enough with the 14 pro as it is with its thin bezels I keep touching apps and making everything jiggle so reducing the bezel more is just gonna make that even more annoying And Apple USB C will fray just as easily as lightning ones and get loose pretty quickly too.

Battery life on the 14 pro is awful and it’s not gonna be any better on the new version Unless you buy a small dinner tray for a phone. Every year we get “a new CPU will make battery life last even longer” it never does. I have awful battery life. Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but I actually use my to talk on and it has appalling echo something all iPhones seem to suffer from now on then and it just eats battery life.

I think I’ll wait and see how this titanium thing goes because honestly it’s gonna get scuffed so badly and it’s not gonna make the phone that much lighter the band around the phone is not exactly big if it was the whole back fair enough but it’s not Possible reason I would buy this year, it’s because I really don’t want to get ever have an iPhone with an apple modem or no sim slot in the EU but the fact that Apple doesn’t even play fair with USB see speeds on usb C and will limit them on the cheaper phones just irks me even more.
Polished Steel is so easy to get scratched, depends on surface finish.

Even if nothing new comes to the iPhone 15 Pro, the current list of expected and rumored features is definitely welcomed. The 15 Pro Max with the periscope camera, bigger display, and much better battery life will be significant coming from my 13 Pro.
I thought the periscope lens was a certified no go. Sure hope I’m wrong.

Titanium is cool, I love Titanium bikes, but I really can’t figure out why I would care that my phone has Titanium. Do I think my phone is too heavy? No. Do I think Titanium will prevent me from buying a case? No. Is it cool to talk about? Well, Titanium is honestly cooler on my bicycle than on my phone I won’t keep any more than two years at most. I would feel like an idiot if I was thrilled to have Titanium on my phone and thought that was a huge selling point. I look forward to Apple telling me why I should care about that.

Buddy the stainless steel sides are EXTREMELY grippy. You have no idea what you’re talking about. However you are correct that Apple’s unbelievably stupid move to matte glass back made the phones much more slippery again thankfully they retained the grippy stainless steel band UNTIL NOW.

Now the phone will be a completely slippery piece of trash like the old all-aluminum phones. They have more premium material now, but just as slippery.

So embarrassingly sad that Apple’s stupidity combined with the stupidity of consumers drove them to switch to matte material design which results in slippery low-friction surfaces to human hands.
Grippy? On my 12 it’s super slippery not sure what you are talking about. The only grip you have is from the flat sides. Running my finger on the coating theres literally no grip on them. Really have no idea how you think it’s grippy besides the shape of the phone.

The curved shape of previous design was way more slippery in the hand with the stainless band. But the squared off sides are much easier to hold because of the design. I’ve been caseless for a long time now and felt the curved design was way worse then what we have now

Thanks funny, but to be fair, I think Apple DID contribute to the invention the USB-C standard. From what I recall, Apple had patents on the reversible port tech used in the Lightning Connector and rather than fighting with the USB standards body they decided to work together. Unfortunately it came a year after iPhone switched to Lightning so they couldn't switch again so easily. Also I believe Thunderbolt over USB-C was something Apple was very interested in getting right.

Removing the Ring/Silent switch would be ok without adding an action button. Unnecessary feature. Don't most people keep their phone on silent all the time anyway? And control centre is an easy enough way to toggle these things.

The only people I know that keep their phones on silent all the time , have no jobs. So nope on that statement , it's gonna be an awesome feature.

Still amazed people forget that Apple were one of the first companies to go all USB-C on their laptops and at the time people lost their minds about it. Like in this headline from The Verge.

In general people don’t like innovation as it will cost them money. Adding USB C to the IPhone 15 Pro isn’t innovative but Apple have been pushing the industry this way for a long time.
Pretty sure they got forced to change due to their lightning cable being somewhat monopolistic, and arguably not efficient as a population to have multiple cables, to charge a battery.

Well that would be a bummer, but to be honest, I’m not upgrading my 13 Pro to the 15 Pro Max due to camera. I’m upgrading mostly for screen and battery size, with any other features a welcome bonus. 👍
Screen and battery life are fine and there won’t be a quantum leap in battery life for a while. The cameras are limited compared to other options. But to each their own, different things are important to different folk.

15 Pro Max battery life should hopefully be a major leap in battery life over my 13 Pro. Screen size, however, will be super nice.

Sounds like you have info. Can you quantify these improvements using numbers rather than adjectives? I’m not being sarcastic, just wondering.

All my work communication is through email, Slack and Google Meet, I’ve never used my phone in my work. So yes, I keep it on silent.
Well that's you , most of the people i know especially in the law department where i work never use e-mail outside a few notifications and we communicate everything via phone calls with our clients.

To each their own but the guy up there said it like the whole world keeps their phone on silent nowdays which is completely untrue.
