Actually disappointed that the black titanium UW didn't pan out. 5X optical zoom on is worth the upgrade for me. Camera is the greatest feature of the iPhone beyond the general apple ecosphere.

There was a rumor about the Apple watch gaining a more accurate / sensitive heart rate monitor that didn't materialize, seems that all the health-related sensors are pretty much the same.
Also all the diagrams depicting how the iPhone Pro Max optical zoom would work, showed it as a 90-degree angle prism with the sensor positioned as 90 degrees perpendicular to the phone plane, obviously that was wrong

If you read the story linked, you'll see it was actually an Apple supplier effectively confirming the solid-state buttons were planned and then were canceled. What else could they be referring to?

Well, for the watch to be able to detect that double flick of the fingers requires an insane amount of computational design and implementation to consistently achieve this simple trick. It might sound modest but many souls poured their sweat and blood getting to work.
I wonder if it has to do with the design of the A-series chips. Thunderbolt came to the iPad Pro when it transitioned to M1, 2018 and 2020 gens were USB-C, but limited to 3.1 speeds. Maybe the A-series cannot support a Thunderbolt connection without a major architectural overhaul
I am unsubscribing from all these YouTube channels of people trying to predict leaks and rumors. They have been SO wrong for the past 5 years, I cant stand it. What this does is cause mass disappointment throughout the community.
Apple this week unveiled four new iPhone 15 models at its "Wonderlust" event. As always, there were many rumors leading up to the event that gave us an idea of what to expect from the devices, but not all of them were accurate.
Below, we have recapped some of the bigger hits and misses from the iPhone 15 rumor mill.
Hits
- All four iPhone 15 models were widely rumored to be equipped with a USB-C port.
- iPhone 15 Pro models have a customizable Action button, and the nine supported types of actions were accurately leaked.
- iPhone 15 Pro models have an A17 chip manufactured with a 3nm process, an increased 8GB of RAM, Wi-Fi 6E support, and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip.
- iPhone 15 Pro models have thinner bezels around the screen.
- iPhone 15 Pro pricing starts at $999 for the 6.1-inch model, only Pro Max costs more.
- iPhone 15 Pro Max is exclusively capable of 5x optical zoom.
- iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have the Dynamic Island, a frosted glass back, and a 48-megapixel main camera lens.
- iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have a lightweight titanium frame available in Blue, Black, White, and Natural.
- iPhone 15 Pro models have a more repairable design like the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.
- iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are available in Black, Pink, Yellow, Blue, and Green.
- Apple abandoned plans to add solid-state buttons to the iPhone 15 Pro models, with the devices retaining physical buttons.
- "FineWoven" branding was used for non-leather Apple accessories.
- There is no "iPhone 15 Ultra" (an earlier rumor is a miss).
- Alongside the iPhone 15, the AirPods Pro charging case was updated with a USB-C port.
Misses
Honorable Mention
- iPhone 15 Pro models do not support Thunderbolt.
- iPhone 15 Pro models do not have a dark red color option.
- Rumors about price increases for both the Pro and Pro Max models were wrong.
- All four iPhone 15 models are not available with color-matched braided USB-C cables.
- There is no 2TB storage option that was rumored for the iPhone 15 Pro models, with the highest capacity remaining 1TB.
- iPhone 15 models did not become eSIM-only in France.
- It was generally expected that iPhone 15 Pro models would have longer battery life with the more power-efficient A17 chip.

They are only 0.7 mm narrower, I doubt most people will notice the difference even after you point it out to them. It's one of these things where you say, Yea, I think I see it but not so sure, then a few days later you won't even remember it's there ...
Many more misses: Pro Max not delayed, no MagSafe battery with USB-C, no new straps with magnetic attachments..
The way the 5X optical zoom is implemented makes you wonder what was the point of excluding it from the Pro non-Max? The camera size and configuration appear the same between the two Pro models. Maybe they did it for price reason to keep the Pro at $999 price point
Yeah, the improved battery life with the A17 Pro was a big and disappointing miss.

The new straps with magnetic attachments are rumored to come with the Apple Watch series X to be released in September 2024 so it might still be true, you'll just have to wait and see as it was not intended for this release cycle
Yeah, with inflation it's honestly surprisingly. But Apple was already at the higher end of the market, so they've probably done enough market research and realized that increasing the price at this point is going to hurt sales more than keeping it the same. For instance, increasing the price by 10% may result in a drop in sales of 15%. Their margins are already quite healthy, according to most supply chain analysts.
But they've made back the difference in other ways. For instance, they held back the base iPhone to use an older CPU. They haven't increased base storage in years. They introduced the Plus model which costs more while getting rid of the Mini model which cost less. They offer the Pro Max in only 256GB so the average selling price is higher. They chip away in ways that make it seem like the price hasn't gone up, when in reality it has in certain hidden ways.
Hardware accelerated ray tracing was predicted by many people here. Definitely a hit.
These report cards are awesome. The world would be a better place if "financial analysts" do the same.
The BIGGEST miss was everyone’s obsession with a price increase 💀 like, there was no optimism there. I personally thought it wouldn’t happen but I didn’t go crazy like everyone on here

I almost fell out of my chair when they said the Most pro Pro iPhone ever
Problem is it is an increase for people who want the Max screen but don't need 256. I wish they would have at least done it to both Pros or given Max 2TB.
The one I don't know if it was a hit or miss but is still cool is charging your Watch and APP from the iPhone
