Can't quite remember how it worked in BASIC. I think I just tried to run it and got errors or something just wouldn't work how I wanted. I know with FORTRAN in college you had keep compiling and debugging until it was successful/
Yeah basic was interpreted if I remember correctly. So if you had a syntax error in line 1000 you didn’t know it until you executed line 1000. It was frustrating while deep in a game because it could literally crash as it’s about to tell you that you beat the Klingons (um, as a random example)

Yea forgot about that too. Bugs hiding behind bugs hiding behind bugs :)

why not, works nicely on Android
Your response prompted a strange idea. using a unique version of so,it screen where both IOS and Android could be loaded to each side. Then the two OS’ battle it out for supremacy.

I have no idea what that struggle would look like, but I want to see it.

No, what's weird is that when I point out a fact of reality (
- doesn't affect your life
- you are not well placed to decide things for other people)
this is interpreted as "defensive" of Apple...

It has nothing to do with Apple, it has to do with people's views of themselves and their relationship to others. That's kinda my point -- people are so delusional about their place in the world that they cannot even *comprehend* an argument that starts with "you are not the hero of anyone else's movie".
You just regurgitated your original statement while ignoring everything except how defensive you are. 😂 You started arguing and calling people delusional for expecting more from $1000+ devices.
You can’t tell me it doesn’t affect my life, I told how it does. What you mean to say is it doesn’t affect YOU. That’s fine. For other people, like myself, it does affect us when base models Macs can’t keep up with default camera settings on iPhone. Again, 8GB has been base RAM for 9 YEARS. Putting that into perspective, the iPhone 6 was released the year they bumped it. So yeah, you look like you work for Apple accounting with your level of defensiveness and lack support for your complaint ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Apple should move to 16GB as standard for Macs when M3 comes out.

It's a joke that even today they are selling Macs with 8GB RAM. Maybe it's fine on the base MacBook Air or Mac Mini but the rest should start at 16GB.
Steve Jobs wouldn’t have allowed this.

Great iPhone 15 will be more powerful than the iMac . When can we start just plugging our phones into monitors?

When corporate greed stops being a thing, so probably never. Would save a lot of E-Waste as well. Same reason Mac OS isn’t running on any iPads. $$

This RAM rampup feels pretty quick for Apple's standard. We only had 2 Pro phones with 6GB RAM (13 Pro and 14 Pro). And now we are at 8? It worries me that Apple might start dropping models from support quicker based on RAM amount. It almost seems like iOS17 will drop anything with less than 4GB of RAM.
Three actually, the 12 PRO also has 6GB of RAM.
