eSim for contract is pretty much everywhere. The prepaid/travel eSim is what needs to be made more available.
Yes, there are options like HolaFly and Airalo but it's not the same as a local sim.

i.e. in Romania you can get a Vodafone Prepaid sim with 300GB of data for 8 euro. For the same price you get 3GB on Airalo.

Simple solution. Don't go to China

In 2015, China was the fourth most visited country in the world, after France, United States, and Spain, with 56.9 million international tourists per year. Same trend thereafter with 65.7 million in 2019.

Then you factor in Chinese travellers and Chinese diaspora holding international iPhones. Plus people who hold resident type visa in China or the PR.

eSim Support here in Switzerland is good. I can`t complain. But I travel a lot to Asia and I need a local number there.
Philippines still do not provide eSIM`s for Prepaid or users with a cheap Plan. That is really unfortunate.

It's a beautiful country with a rich history. You can visit their Tier 1 cities, which are world-class. You can visit their natural wonders or historical monuments. All on their country-wide high-speed trains. If you're a girl, you can walk at night by yourself at 3am and no one would bother you. Super safe country - like all the East Asian countries such as SK, Japan, Singapore. People are also very friendly and they enjoy meeting foreigners. You should visit. No joke.

And while you're there, you can buy an iPhone with dual physical SIM cards.
“Super like” to your reply sir!. And I am not Asian.

In Canada 1 GB data add on is CAD$23.

To anyone using esim, how easy is it go swap between phones ? I often swap iphone/android
Like others are saying it depends on the carrier but if you use Verizon their online tool can’t seem to complete the number swap, at least for me. I spent over an hour on the phone when I moved my iPhone number to a Pixel 7 and then a month later it was another hour long call to swap it back ☹️

It really depends on your carrier. Some of them are easy to move to phone, other you need to visit a carrier shop to get a new QR code.
Good point!. I am getting worried, because I trade my old iPhone for the “new” one, so I don’t have the old one to do a “migrate sim process from phone to phone”. Now I will have to go to my carrier to waste time to migrate the esim to a new phone later this year?. F aaaaack!. I should have not “downgraded” to a 14 pro max this year…
Also I travel A LOT to South America and I use prepaid sims in different counties and the carriers don’t support eSim in prepaid, so the iPhone 15 will only work in 1st world countries? And the rest have to switch to Android?

Apple is doing this at the cost of user experience for its customers. I absolutely hate my 14 Pro Max because I need to carry a second phone now when I travel. I bought a Nothing phone and damn it feels better and is more symmetrical to look at. No notches or “dynamic islands” to ruin the view. Apple is going to push people away or force them to try to get phones from other countries so they can travel with them. My experience in multiple countries has been eSIM are just not standardized anywhere outside a few developed countries. Sucks!

Every major carrier in Poland supports e-sim so I honestly don’t have a problem with that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Currently - I'm buying a new phone, iPhone or something with android.
1 minute to flip the card. I'm abroad, my phone broke down, I want to put the card into a spare one - no problem.
The future - e-sim 90% of the phone does not support technology. Each transfer of the number to another device requires a visit to the operator's store. are you abroad? I won't do anything, I'm left without a phone.

I have, I’m using e-sim in my 14 Pro since last year but I’m also traveling to undeveloped countries when only physical SIM cards are available. So it’s my only way to stay connected without carrying two phones.
