To anyone using esim, how easy is it go swap between phones ? I often swap iphone/android

Depends on your provider. It was a pain in the ass with my previous one here in Germany. Took them literally 4 days, 5! Store visits with 10 different answers and tech support on the phone eventually being able to help me correctly.

Some providers even charge a fee for a new QR code / activation like wtf

I hope Canada is too backwards for this nuisance.
The Big 3 and their flanker brands already support eSIM so I suspect we'll be getting iPhone 15 series without a SIM tray. I'm also guessing the only reason we still received iPhones with a SIM tray with the 14 series is that we get iPhones without mmWave so they weren't going to manufacture an iPhone without a SIM tray and without mmWave just for Canada.

Honestly I don't see it is a big deal, I ended up activating my iPad with an eSIM, and it was as simple as scanning a QR code. Not sure why people care so much?

Well, Apple thinks seduce Europeans with the usb-c, removing the SIM, but the European market is different from the American one. We will see if there will be drops in sales, I hope so, the worse it goes for Apple, the better for consumers.
I don't think Apple is trying to "seduce" Europeans or anyone. They added USB-C to comply with new regulations. They removed the SIM because they want to reduce the amount of openings on the phone. But nice subtle shot at Americans, I'll add it to the long list of unprovoked attacks on Americans and America here. Some people who post here from other countries seem to think every American is the same and that they are all morons. It is really weird.

No, Apple used the new regulation, to which it knew it would have to be subject, to impose eSim on Europeans. Otherwise it could have done it already with the 14, but it hai no levers to buy, since the 14 are the 13. In the U.S. and other countries it is different for the contractual bond, but in many European countries the normality is to have SIMs on consumption, without constraints.
I have not attacked the Americans, they are just used to a different way of being consumers.

70 million people visit China yearly. What are the odds that they will make you disappear? Maybe watch a little less mass media propaganda.

Odds are low but non-zero. Would you have visited Russia a year and a half ago? You go have fun. I’m not tempting fate by putting myself into the hands of a nation which is in an open rivalry with my own.

We know for a fact they do it with their own citizens, rich people who know the rules. Make one slip-up and suddenly you’re having “schedule conflicts” like Jack Ma.

Anyway this is all wildly off-topic and will probably be deleted by moderators.

You know what else I don’t want disappeared? The SIM slot!

Never understood why we still use physical SIM cards today, why can't a user name and password identify you just like it does for your email or bank account?
Or is this actually the end of the most secure thing ever which is why two factor authentication relies on SMS which cannot be hacked since the ability to receive an SMS is tied to a physical SIM card?

Why not get an iPhone in your arm? It's not much different.
Physical SIMs can be thrown away when they are no longer needed. They may not be tracked, because they do not have a registered name. If one device is not working, just retrieve another device. We are full of e-waste, we lack the eSIM to do the operators a favor. In a world infested with cameras and tracking, with devices that continue to transmit even when turned off, not physically having a SIM can give you some breathing space, but I understand that it is not very satisfying for many.

sure its fun domestically here in the US but eSim is the WORST experience for long-term travel.

The only way the e-sim experience will improve is if Apple forces adoption of a much smarter alternative around the world. Where Apple shows real industry leadership, competitors follow again and again. In a few years, the thought of handling sim cards will feel entirely antiquated as pretty much everyone will be on board.

Sometimes I do miss the old Sim Tray. Do you guys? Or do you guys like the eSim?
I miss it personally. I sometimes switch too a Android device to get my fix and the eSIM forces me to contact Verizon anytime I want to switch back... other than that I haven' t minded. I wish there was a way to transfer eSIMS from one device to another...cross platform.

Exactly where in that post has this person taken a shot at Americans? Unprovoked attacks? 🤦🏻‍♂️

By pointing out that the markets are different? Yah know? They are! Oops! Another unprovoked attack.

Go cry me a river.
