Simply because they want you to subscribe to iCloud. That link is to the wrong item.
But why do we need to buy a Thunderbolt cable if the iPhone Pros do not support Thunderbolt? Was that an example since that's the only one capable of USB 3.1 that Apple sells?
I've been wanting the switch to USB-C since everything's moving towards that but this is the reason I don't like it. With USB 2.0, I could pick up any USB cable and it would work at that speeds. With 3.0, when it was new, we had to make sure it had the blue part. Here we are, what, 10 years later or so? I still can't grab a cable with a USB-C end and expect it to work at least at 3.0 speeds.
I expect this to improve next year with the iPhone 16, with the integrated USB-C controller on the SoC, just like the A17 Pro.
Could this be because A17 has only usb-3 chip and no thunderbolt controller?
Also the A16 may not have USB-C controller, so only USB-2.
Stop pretending. By next week you have sent in your order for 15 pro maxAs a 14 Pro Max owner this iPhone is a hard pass for me. During previous years there was always something that baited me to buy the latest and greatest. This year there is nothing - not even better battery life.
I think "malicious compliance" is a good description for this. But hey...the EU mandated it...people cheered for it. You wanted it...You got it...and ONLY that 😂
If someone uses a cable capable of USB 3 speeds, from Apple or anyone, they’ll get USB 3 speeds (USB 3 cable with 10Gb/s speed required). If one does not use a cable that’s capable of the data delivery performance they’re looking for… then they won’t get the data delivery performance they’re looking for.So, do they require a special usb-c apple cable with IC chip? Or nah
If you buy an outdated phone, you get outdated tech. The 15/15 Plus are basically last year's stuff.really pathetic in 2023
You should apply for a marketing title at AppleSo the 14 was a 13s and this is the 13sC?
ik , this is what im referring to tho https://www.macrumors.com/2023/02/10/apple-planning-to-limit-iphone-15-usb-c-port/If someone uses a cable capable of USB 3 speeds, from Apple or anyone, they’ll get USB 3 speeds (USB 3 cable with 10Gb/s speed required). I’m FAIRLY certain that ANY USB-C device purchased today will only transfer data at the speed the cable supports.
well they did, just not on the iphone xdIt's ironic, really, since Lightning as a technology was theoretically capable of establishing USB-3 speeds and Apple never bothered to upgrade its capabilities.
Well they ARE highlighting the features of the ENTIRE phone. It would be odd to refer to the camera capabilities while showing the USB-C port. Talk about the new action button while showing, NOT the action button, but the USB-C port. There is a shocking lack of photos of the new USB-C port anywhere in apples marketing for the 15 Pro on their website. Why are they so reluctant to show hole?
Not sure how many (few) is out there moving around large chunks of data from their phones connected to computers... But seems like at least the new iPhone Pro is the solution...Wow! It should not be limited. This is unnecessary. Don't tell me Apple is doing this to be, "Environmentally friendly".![]()
Every USB-C cable as an authentication chip. It tells the connected devices what power and data levels it supports. If someone buys a non-Apple cable that tells the phone it supports 10Gb/s, then it’ll transfer at that rate.ik , this is what im referring to tho https://www.macrumors.com/2023/02/10/apple-planning-to-limit-iphone-15-usb-c-port/
