The basic Phone 15 series got really nice features which would be a big hit for those on the budget....

...until I just found out what just killed the excitement of buying was that USB-C on those poor basic iPhone series is its speed that remains limited to USB 2.0 speeds of up to 480 Mbps!

Way to go, Apple.

Not to be hyperbolical but that's a total disgrace 😂 I wonder how many generations they will keep stuck at a standard released in the year 2000. Yup just a quarter of a century ago.
I’m guessing it’ll be forever. Because, it doesn’t matter what year someone buys a cable in, if that cable doesn’t support the data transfer speeds the user wants, there’s nothing any device on either end can do to force the cable to support the data transfer speed.

As a 14 Pro Max owner this iPhone is a hard pass for me. During previous years there was always something that baited me to buy the latest and greatest. This year there is nothing - not even better battery life.
USB-C? 5x Zoom? 2x as fast neural engine? (Gives more features in future iOS updates)

Well they ARE highlighting the features of the ENTIRE phone. It would be odd to refer to the camera capabilities while showing the USB-C port. Talk about the new action button while showing, NOT the action button, but the USB-C port. :)
The webpage scrolls, so they have room to show all of these things, and then some. Even when they do talk about the USB-C port, they don’t show the USB-C port.

What are you talking about? There are different cables that support different speeds. The iPhone 15 only supports USB-2 speeds, that's the disgrace. I'm no talking about the cables.

I like it. I'm very anti-mandate. So any way Apple or any company can do the bare minimum to comply with stupid laws is okay by me.
Yeah I’m not really a fan of USB-C. Definitely don’t consider it a selling point or something to celebrate like some people are. So I got a laugh out of this one 😂

That’s because they show a USB-C cable plugged into it. Which image would be more demonstrative to a user. A picture of a port with a description of what should be plugged into it, or the device actually plugged in showing what it does?

It take having support on the die to support faster speeds. They specifically pointed out that the NEW processor in the PRO has integrated components to support USB 3 speeds. Apple builds very customized chips, why would they include support for faster speeds in the processor if their devices weren't going to support it via Lightning anyway?

It's okay. I don't think a lot of people data transfer that often from their phones.. its just carrying a separate charger that bugs us. And we can always buy the Pro series if we are so picky.. its just $200 more.

That link is to the wrong item.

But why do we need to buy a Thunderbolt cable if the iPhone Pros do not support Thunderbolt? Was that an example since that's the only one capable of USB 3.1 that Apple sells?

I've been wanting the switch to USB-C since everything's moving towards that but this is the reason I don't like it. With USB 2.0, I could pick up any USB cable and it would work at that speeds. With 3.0, when it was new, we had to make sure it had the blue part. Here we are, what, 10 years later or so? I still can't grab a cable with a USB-C end and expect it to work at least at 3.0 speeds.
Maybe it will take another 10 years for that USB 2 to reach 3 because now it’s just used as a differentiating factor

Didn’t know Apple still makes ancient chips that can only handle USB 2.

USB 2 vs 3 more likely just used as a differentiating factor.

I don’t think I’ve ever plugged in my 14 Pro. Wireless charging all the time. Is there something I’m supposed to be doing today via the Neutral engine that is painfully slow on a 14 Pro?

Yes the zoom is nice. And I’m on the IUP so I’ll get a 15 Pro, but there’s really no killer features this year.

There is a shocking lack of photos of the new USB-C port anywhere in apples marketing for the 15 Pro on their website. Why are they so reluctant to show hole?

well, there was a giant close-up in the video presentation

Yes, I think it’s interesting that we need to freeze frame a 2 hour video to find a photo of it. Since it’s such a big feature of the device it is just shocking to me that apple would not prominently display it practically anywhere in their marketing.
