First impression: well the Pro Max was probably the wrong choice for me coming from the standard 11. It's just a little too large and I'd probably have been happier with the 16 Pro. Chances are I'd think the opposite had I gone the other way 🤦‍♂️

My fingers still touch the bottom of the camera lense grid so if probably struggle with the Pro and be resting on the lenses.
This was my initial reaction a few generations ago when I hopped on the 'Max' bandwagon, but after using it for a day or two, I was hooked and anything smaller in size just felt too cramped for me. I've been all Max ever since.

I miss the plastic back and rounded edges of the 3GS. Plastic may not seem premium, but I still think that was the most beautiful model, and felt nicest in the hand. [I know I'm in a small minority here]
I would love if they remade that phone. They felt so good. Could also replace the plastic with ceramic maybe.

So my 16 Pro is being delivered later (I instantly pre-order every year like a sucker) and I decided to check my 15 Pro battery health. What are the chances my cycle count is exactly 365?? What are some of ya'll's counts out there?

My 15 Pro Max is sitting at cycle count 215 and 97% battery capacity. I don’t charge everyday. But it increased with the latest betas. Giving the 15 Pro Max to my son to replace is 12 Pro Max so all of my family will now be on USB C.

In practical terms, what good is all that speed on a phone? I mean, it's nice to have, but what do people do with 2Gbps down speed on a phone?
I agree, I have a Wifi7 router because that is what my ISP provides. As for the bandwidth I never use more than 2-3Gbps at most across all the devices in my home.

It's funny how preferences can be so different... I had the XS Max for a whole year and just couldn't stand the size. In fact it was the first time I tried going without a case, just to make it smaller. Then I went 11 Pro, and then 12 Mini, and loved both steps down in size, but couldn't resist going back up to 13 Pro for the ProMotion and camera upgrades. I still go case-less on the regular pro models every year to make them as small as possible, but if Apple sold a Pro Mini it would instantly be my favorite phone ever.

2-3Gbps is still a sh*t-ton of data. You got 100 TV's all streaming 8K video? :)

It's only during very short periods of time and on rare occurrences. But yeah 3Gbps is maybe the most I pushed when running a backup from my desktop and my NAS simultaneously. If I had 1Gbps I probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

I prefer the larger screen size and I don't mind the feeling of a larger phone in my hands. The main issues is pockets. With some bottoms, it fits just fine, with others, it's half falling out. Oh well, that's what cross-body bags are for. :)

My “Sept 30 to Oct 2” delivery date has moved up since the phone shipped - I’m getting Sept 23 as my delivery date (UPS tracking). I thought I’d be waiting longer, but it wasn’t bothering me too much since I’m maining a 6S Plus for the past ~decade, what was another two weeks?? Now I’m giddy to get it Monday!

Just received my 16 pro and it's being setup so I can't send photos right now. I'm coming from a 13 Pro.
First impressions:
- The thin bezels are definitely noticeable, specially coming from a 13 Pro. That was my first wow moment.
- The extra screen size isn't immediately noticeable, but also looking at both phone side to side it's hard to say which one is bigger. So that speaks of how much thiner the bezels are.
- Despite the similar weight, the distribution than many people mentioned on the 15 last year is definitely appreciated.
- I got the natural titanium, and the colour is ok, but boring as expected. I like that it matches my AWU.
- I'm still not sure if I'll get a case or not. But I've had that internal conflict for years. 😂 I do love how it feels in hand.
Can't say much more for now, but I'll post pics once my 13 is done transferring the data.
Does it feel better in hand than the 13 Pro without a case?

Please let us know how the battery life compares to 13 Pro once you’ve spent some days with it.

Anyone have any issues with setup? I'm stuck on the "Emergency SOS" screen during iOS setup.

the tracking status of mine changed to "Your package is pending release from a Government Agency" and the ETA changed to "delivery date will be provided as soon as possible" 🥲

Apparently nobody ordered any phones. This photo by me in Las Vegas is completely false.

Whatever has been true in the past, I was expecting the 16PM would establish a much faster connection to the Mac, what with the spec sheet proudly boasting of USB 3.
Curiously, when I later reconnected the iPhone to the same cable and port, it established a 10 Gbps connection to the Mac. Syncing is still painfully slow, though. Perhaps if transcoding used more than just efficiency cores, or if Music allowed a pre-transcoded version of each track to be stored alongside lossless versions on the Mac that might improve things.
