Apple was able to introduce significant gains in battery life across the entire iPhone 16 lineup, and new regulatory information from Brazilian agency Anatel (via Blog do iPhone) reveals just how much battery capacity has increased compared to the iPhone 15 lineup.

  • iPhone 16 - 3,561 mAh, up 6.3 percent
  • iPhone 16 Plus - 4,674 mAh, up 6.6 percent
  • iPhone 16 Pro - 3,582 mAh, up 9.4 percent
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max - 4,685 mAh, up 6 percent
Battery capacity increased the most in the iPhone 16 Pro at nine percent, with a ~six percent increase for other models.

The new A18 and A18 Pro chips and thermal improvements have also helped to boost battery life, with the biggest improvements seen in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
  • iPhone 16 - 22 hours video playback, 18 hours streaming video, 80 hours audio.
  • iPhone 16 Plus - 27 hours video playback, 24 hours streaming video, 100 hours audio.
  • iPhone 16 Pro - 27 hours video playback, 22 hours streaming video, 85 hours audio.
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max - 33 hours video playback, 29 hours streaming video, 105 hours audio.
  • iPhone 15 - 20 hours video playback, 16 hours streaming video, 80 hours audio.
  • iPhone 15 Plus - 26 hours video playback, 20 hours streaming video, 100 hours audio.
  • iPhone 15 Pro - 23 hours video playback, 20 hours streaming video, 75 hours audio.
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max - 29 hours video playback, 25 hours streaming video, 95 hours audio.
All of the iPhone 16 models support faster 25W MagSafe charging, but you do need one of Apple’s new MagSafe chargers to get it, and you’ll need a 30W power adapter to see the fastest wireless charging speeds. Apple also says that the new devices can charge at up to 45W over USB-C.

The iPhone 16 models are available for pre-order and are set to launch tomorrow.

So I still have hope for the 45W fast charging but I thought the hands on reviewers said no, not fast charging?

Hope it performs better than my 15 Pro Max which, for me, has been the worst battery ever. I'm a light user, don't game, don't watch films / TV but the battery drains very fast every day. The phone is 11 months old, 291 cycles and down to 91% Capacity (likely to dip to 90% any day soon). Not sure what's going on this phone but knew Apple would just say it was fine. One of the main reasons I'm not sticking with it is due to the poor the battery performance.

iPhone 16 Pro max 4,685 mAh probably will live more than some androids with 6000mah
Agreed! Yeah, comparing mAh across different product lines aren't necessarily going to work. It's like we keep going back to those days of comparing clock speeds between Intel chips and PowerPC. High clock speed doesn't necessarily mean faster.

That said, about 1 day of battery life for a phone isn't good. I'd want to see at least 1.5 days

wow that's a lot of degradation in one year. just curious do you fast charge or use magsafe?

I totally agree with you on the 15 Pro Max being the worst with battery life, I feel like this phone has more heat than any other iPhone, which is why I’m upgraded to the 16 Pro Max, which I heard has better cooling internal, and increased battery life will be welcome.

So all iPhone 16 battery capacities did increase... but only 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max battery replacement costs went up 20 percent. Strange.

What's so special about the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max batteries?

wtf, I have been using it for about 10 months now and I am still at 100% battery health. It also gets me through the day very easily. I charge to 80% btw.

Same reason why oil changes cost more at a Lexus dealer compared to Toyota. Apple is starting to use willingness to pay rather than actual materials and labor costs for service pricing.
