Honestly the single biggest feature I hope continues to improve. A day of sightseeing in NYC with Maps open, posting on socials, taking lots of pics and vids, my battery was in the red on my 15p before dinner.
One of the biggest reasons I wish the battery case was still in production. Being a tourist in another city is the perfect benchmark.

I recently spent some time in Denmark, Czech Republic and Sweden and had just enough battery to buy a train ticket and unlock my hotel room at the end of each day. Basically had to run low power mode 24/7 and disable background app refresh when heading out for the day.

Tom’s Guide review said it did not charge faster but if you look at the table they posted, it was only the 16 Pro that did not charge faster. The Pro Max charged faster.

this is from the tomsguide review yesterday?

Pro is yet again worse than (smaller) base model, in terms of battery life.
16 Pro Max now beats the crap out of S24 Ultra and 9XL in battery life.

Apple reports that the 16 Pro has a longer battery life than the 16. Where are you seeing that the 16 is lasting longer than the 16 Pro?

I honestly dont get why people are so stuck on battery life! How often are people not near a charger?! I think its so blown out of control... chargers are in your car, your work, airports, planes, you name it!
Just because you don't get it doesn't invalidate its needs. Same with EV's and their range.

The issue with charging when you're on the go is that the screen severely dims with the heat generated and extends the charge time. I've had trouble seeing the screen in the car as well as scanning my boarding pass at the airport.

i travel all over the world all the time on my pro and still not issues, sure, not fun to charge, but I still would NOT want to carry a huge pM

Same reason why oil changes cost more at a Lexus dealer compared to Toyota. Apple is starting to use willingness to pay rather than actual materials and labor costs for service pricing.
Unlike at a Toyota dealer, a Lexus dealer oil change is more than just an oil change though. They'll also wash the car, rotate tires, replace cabin filter, and, if you need one, they have free loaner vehicles available. The waiting lounge is also nicer with better snacks and drinks.

So while you're paying more at a Lexus dealer (let's say 50% to 70% more depending on vehicle model) vs at a Toyota dealer, you're also getting more. You don't get anything extra with a 16 Pro / 16 Pro Max battery replacement vs 16 and 16 Plus.

That’s actually great news, as I pre ordered the iPhone 16 Plus a few hours ago. Coming from a 14 Plus and the battery level is at 91% after 2 years.

Apple only tested it in "video playback" so if you do anything else besides watching video, it's not realistic. 15 Pro had worse battery life than base model as well, this year it's even more disappointing since 16 Pro is bigger.

In a new post, Majin Bu claims that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger batteries than their predecessors, but the iPhone 16 Plus is set to take a significant step back in terms of battery capacity. The X user also noted that the iPhone 16 Pro Max is moving away from the L-shaped battery design used on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and earlier toward a standard rectangular battery like the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The rumored changes are as follows:

iPhone 15 Lineup (2023)iPhone 16 Lineup (2024)% Change
[Standard]3,349 mAh3,561 mAh+6%
Plus4,383 mAh4,006 mAh-9%
Pro Max4,422 mAh4,676 mAh+5%

Majin Bu did not disclose any information about the iPhone 16 Pro's battery. It is not clear why the iPhone 16 Plus's battery would shrink compared to its predecessor while the iPhone 16's battery grows, seeing as both devices have an identical feature-set and share many of their components.

While Majin Bu often aggregates and shares information related to Apple's plans, they do not have a solid track record. As a result, this part of the rumor should be treated with some skepticism until we know more, but it is worth noting that a smaller battery would not necessarily equate to reduced battery life, since there could be efficiency savings elsewhere that prolong battery life.
Apple was able to introduce significant gains in battery life across the entire iPhone 16 lineup, and new regulatory information from Brazilian agency Anatel (via Blog do iPhone) reveals just how much battery capacity has increased compared to the iPhone 15 lineup.

  • iPhone 16 - 3,561 mAh, up 6.3 percent
  • iPhone 16 Plus - 4,674 mAh, up 6.6 percent
  • iPhone 16 Pro - 3,582 mAh, up 9.4 percent
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max - 4,685 mAh, up 6 percent

The only time that 6.1" non-Pro and 6.1" Pro had the same battery capacity was in 2020
iPhone 12 - 2815 mAh
iPhone 12 Pro - 2815 mAh

From the iPhone 13 series onwards, the non-Pro has a bigger battery than the size counterpart Pro
iPhone 13 - 3227 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro - 3095 mAh

iPhone 14 - 3279 mAh
iPhone 14 Pro - 3200 mAh

iPhone 15 - 3349 mAh
iPhone 15 Pro - 3274 mAh

Now on iPhone 16 series, despite the minimal size increase:
iPhone 16 - 3561 mAh
iPhone 16 Pro - 3582 mAh

Hope it performs better than my 15 Pro Max which, for me, has been the worst battery ever. I'm a light user, don't game, don't watch films / TV but the battery drains very fast every day. The phone is 11 months old, 291 cycles and down to 91% Capacity (likely to dip to 90% any day soon). Not sure what's going on this phone but knew Apple would just say it was fine. One of the main reasons I'm not sticking with it is due to the poor the battery performance.
Pretty much my EXACT experience too. 287 cycles, 91% health. Phone won’t even make it through the day without being plugged in at some point. Hoping my 16PM will be better.

If the batteries on the 16 and the 16 Pro are almost identical, why does the 16 weigh 170g while the 16 Pro weighs 199g? It seems like a lot of additional weight for just 0.2" of screen (most of which is just smaller bezels) and another camera lens.

If the Plus and Pro Max have similar capacity, why would the Plus be worst than Pro Max in battery life and video viewing?

wow that's a lot of degradation in one year. just curious do you fast charge or use magsafe?

Use 15-watt Magsafe, the same one I have used on all my other Magsafe-compatible iPhones. The 13 Pro Max, after 12 months of usage still had around 99% capacity, the 14 Pro Max something like 96% after12 months and 15 Pro Max, at 11 months is at 91%

Quickest path to all-day iPhone must be astronomers agreeing on 12-hour day
