iPhone 16 Launch Month Is Here: Everything We Know

My iPhone 13 Pro is wondering whether it’s time is up. I’m not sure. Wanting the new and shiny is all well and good, but it means spending a ton of money … & I’m not sure it’s worth it.
I look at the list of gains, and it’s ok. Just ok though. Not mind blowing. The upgrade from the 11 Pro to 13 Pro felt more worthwhile.
Might feel differently when I get to see them in the flesh.
I think the 17 series rumours have soured it a little as many aspects should really have been in the 16 Pro’s.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro has 2000 nits brightness with peak level till 3000 nits. HDR and 120 GHz refresh rates. Oh… and it comes with double the RAM 16gb

As far as the rumors about the iPhone 16 hold any truth, the camera system on the pixel is also better. With a 42 mp selfie camera on the front.

Oh… it’s cheaper as the iPhone and does come with all the ai Apple is talking about for next year.

I also get more much for my iPhone 13 Pro at Google than Apple is giving me when I buy an iPhone 15 Pro.

🤔 shall I wait and get the flesh corps color iPhone 16 pro for the price of an MacBook Air with 16 gb ram or just pay € 592 to Google and get the Pixel 9 Pro with all the bells and whistles Apple promises for next year?

🤔 let’s see what 9 September holds 😎

Nobody cares what you do. Get the Pixel and find your true love.

You will be getting a slower SOC and therefore performance, Slower Storage, Worse battery life, Cheaper build materials, and inferior cameras but knock yourself out 👍🏻

The 16 Pro Max is a definite upgrade for me. Mostly for the AI features but also to have as good a phone camera as possible. Will be upgrading from the 14 Pro Max, which is at 94% battery capacity atm. Glad to see the display is increasing slightly in size.

I am still rocking the 14 pro max, I think I will skip the 16 models not impressive with the new models for me.

Will be a minor improvement over the 15 series. Will be good that both Pro and Pro Max have similar zoom capability.

I've learned with my 15 Pro that fast wired charging and/or wireless charging may not be the best way to charge your iPhone. I got it on launch day and 340 cycles in, I'm at 92% battery health. My iPhone 13 reached 91% battery health after 2 years.

So the rumored faster charging with the 16 may not be that good news, I'm not upgrading anyway but I would advise against using it by default, I would advise only to use it when you really need it. When you really need to juice up quickly your best way is wired anyway and that's not as bad for the battery as wireless is.
The key for a better battery health, at least for me, has been to always charge it at 80%. After 1 year my iPhone 15 battery has still 99% capacity.

I'm in the same boat.

I have an itch to get the new shiny iPhone 16 Pro but at the same time my iPhone 13 Pro is working fine and I feel like the novelty of the new iPhone will wear off after a week of getting it.

Also, the rumors for the 17 series make it seem like that would be the one to upgrade to.

Someone said the iPhone 17 PM will hide the front-facing camera inside the screen, if that's true then would be interesting.

Really not looking forward to Apple returning to the polished finish that we had with the stainless steel. I really like the brushed finish on the titanium, and the natural titanium is good at not showing fingerprints, whereas the polished stainless steel was a fingerprint magnet.

Also, maybe just me, but after reading about what the capture button will be used for. I'm not sure how useful it will be, especially when it adds an extra button to the iPhone and will most people not just open the camera up to do what the capture button does, and also, we have a shortcut to the camera on the lock screen already.

Like I have said, maybe it's just me who doesn't see the use for it.

No main lens IMX903 sensor?

It seems only the 16 proMax will get the IMX903, while the normal 16 pro will still use the IMX803 aus main sensor. However, the IMX803 ist still comperativly potent, the worries came more from the processing side. RAW files are allready very good, OFC a larger sensor always helps.

After each new iPhone event, I find it amusing to come back to the “final” rumor round up and see how off they were lol.
