I'll never understand the polished edges. Makes literally no sense. Even if some people think it looks better new, once you get fingerprints all over it, it looks like ****.

I have never and would never use the 80% max charge.

I do not use optimized charging either; I charge any time I want.

After 337 cycles it reads 91%.

This is a good indication that those settings do next-to-nothing for you per year. The 80% cap charging is one of the most nonsensical things I can imagine because you’re limiting your battery by 20% artificially, which is absolutely hilarious because everyone complains about battery life since the inception of smartphones.
Yeah that's odd to limit your battery by 20% artificially rather than just using it until the capacity is reduced to 20%. I don't mind using any feature like optimized charging as long as it is seamless and doesn't affect my daily usage. With wireless charging a norm, it seems like battery capacity is reducing faster than before, at least in my experience. But having to pay about $70-90 for a new battery after ~2 years isn't a big deal imo.

Polished sides are astronomically better and they do not show fingerprints to a great degree unless you eat donuts or wipe your face with your hand then use the phone.

Glossy sides let you NOT DROP THE PHONE which makes it look a lot better than the mangled and chipped matte sides and broken glass after that bar of soap slipped out of your hands and crashed to the ground.

Enjoy. Now you understand.

And lots of hair scratches don't forget.
Nope, I used an iPhone X for 4 years, it showed no scratches. You might be thinking of the silver.

And no one cares if it has minimal scratches that you must hold to phone in at a specific angle toward light in order to see.

What we do care about is that the glossy sides offer grip so you don’t drop the phone and destroy the screen like you do with hideous and slippery matte sides.

:)

Everyone has their preferences and neither side is wrong. 14P here and prefer the glossy frame but there's no way it's shows less fingerprints than a matte frame. Even though it's less slippery I still drop it from time to time. Dings and scratches do show up more on a glossy frame but it doesn't bother me. It's just a pretty tool that gets replaced eventually.

My polished edges looked like ass within a minute of getting my old iPhone. Meanwhile my new iPhone shows no fingerprints after a year of using it daily without a case. I don't get where you get the idea that polished doesn't show fingerprints.

As I said if you go around with very greasy hands then yeah you’ll see fingerprints a lot. Eat donut > grab phone

Wipe face with hand > grab phone

Now, I have to point out to you that it has been well documented and we have all seen it ourselves, that the titanium matter sides of the current iPhone actually show appreciable fingerprints. It actually darks areas of the sides of the phone. It’s very easy to see. Look. Right now. Go for it.

Cannot wait for the premium looking and grippy polished sides again!!!

That's called hairline scratches. A lot of people hate that.

Completely untrue. It makes literally zero difference how clean my hands are. The polished edges look like **** the second you touch them. I still don't see a single fingerprint on my 15 Pro Max.

The fingerprints easily transfer to the 15 Pro. In fact there were even articles about that very thing posted on this site when it launched. And since I know you visit this site constantly, especially around iPhone releases, I know for a fact that you saw those articles hahah

I don't care about articles. I'm looking at it right in front of my face. lol.

Apple has announced that on Monday, September 9 it will hold its annual fall event, which means we are just days away from the launch of the iPhone 16. Like the iPhone 15 series, this year's lineup is expected to stick with four models – iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max – although there are plenty of design differences and new features to take into account.

To bring you up to speed ahead of Apple's "It's Glowtime" event, we've summarized below the biggest iPhone 16 rumors we've covered so far here on MacRumors. For more details, follow the links, or dive into our dedicated roundups for both iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models.

1. Larger Displays
Biggest Ever iPhones
This year's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to be getting bigger display sizes, increasing to 6.27- and 6.86-inches, respectively. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are equipped with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively. The new display sizes would be the largest ever for the iPhone.

2. Vertical Camera Layout
iPhone 16 & iPhone 16 Plus
Apple's iPhone 16 base models will feature a vertical camera arrangement with a pill-shaped raised surface, instead of a diagonal camera arrangement like the iPhone 15. The new camera bump features two separate camera rings for the Wide and Ultra Wide cameras. The vertical camera layout is expected to enable Spatial Video recording, which is currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models.

3. Battery Changes
All iPhone 16 Models
Rumors suggest the ‌iPhone 16‌ and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger batteries than their predecessors, although the smaller iPhone 16 Pro device could see the biggest improvement, while the ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus may have reduced capacity. The iPhone 16 is said to have a 6% increase over the iPhone 15, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max gaining a 5% increase, and the iPhone 16 Pro seeing a 9% increase. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Plus is rumored to have a 9% reduction in capacity. On the other hand, Apple could also potentially use stacked battery technology to increase energy density and prolong lifespan across the lineup.

4. Capture Button
New Camera Capabilities
All iPhone 16 models will have a new "Capture Button" dedicated to triggering image or video capture. The button will add features like the ability to zoom in and out by swiping left and right on the button, focus on a subject with a light press, and activate a recording with a more forceful press. The Capture Button will be located on the bottom right side of the ‌iPhone 16, and will take the place of the mmWave antenna on U.S. ‌iPhone‌ models, with the antenna relocating to the left side of the device below the volume and Action buttons.

5. Ultra Wide Lens Upgrade
iPhone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to feature an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera lens, which should allow it to capture more light, resulting in improved photos when shooting in 0.5× mode, especially in low-light environments. This also means that iPhone 16 Pro models should be able to shoot 48-megapixel ProRAW photos in Ultra Wide mode. These photos retain more detail in the image file for more editing flexibility, and can be printed at large sizes. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumored to boast a bigger main camera thanks to an advanced custom 48-megapixel Sony IMX903 sensor.

6. Super Telephoto Camera
iPhone 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 16 Pro Max could be the first to feature a super telephoto periscope camera for dramatically increased optical zoom. "Super" or "ultra" telephoto usually describes cameras with a focal length of over 300mm. The current telephoto lens is equivalent to a 77mm lens, so if accurate, there could be a notable increase in zoom capabilities. Super telephoto cameras are often used for sports and wild animal photography, but the extremely soft backgrounds they create also make them useful for portrait photography, providing there is enough distance between the subject and the photographer.

So, bigger, so-so battery improvement, heavier, faster wifi (who cares)... So much for portability and weight. My wife is stuck with an iphone mini (best phone ever) and i just don't see the reason to spend $1200 for a better camera when my 14 pro does a great job. What am i missing?

Always charge it only to 80% so that you perpetually get -20% battery capacity in order to save 7% battery capacity loss after 1 year.

Hang on I’m checking my notes…….

Yes I see here, I wrote that I’ll never use that piece of trash nonsensical feature in my life
I rarely need more than 40-50% of battery in a normal day, so 80% is more than enough until the next morning when I charge it again.

And whenever I need the full battery because I’m travelling, I can still count on it.

Failing to understand a use case and laughing about it, doesn’t make you look smarter 😏

Hahaha I won sorry. Wheeee 80% max battery to save 1% health per year LMAO
