Try connecting any cable with one hand. Maybe while starting a car at the same time or unloading groceries in your kitchen.

You don’t need to block another activity to charge with MagSafe.

I can't wait 15 seconds to finish what I'm doing.

Why do people prefer Magsafe charging? You still have a cable attached to the device and its heavier than just using usb-c cable

Hardly.

I don't get it either. I bought a magsafe charger when I got my 13 Pro but ended up returning it as it didn't make sense over regular cable charging or just a cheap wireless charger.

Pops right on and off easier. Holds itself in place while charging so doubles as a stand. Works on both Lightning and USB-C models. Can also charge APP2, ditto on the ports.

It's not perfect for every use case, and I don't ever want to see an iPhone with no USB-C or equivalent port, but it has its uses.

I like it for the car because instead of dealing with a weird mount and then plugging cable or anything i just throw it onto the thing and at least it keeps the phone same charge while moving around and its handy to take it quickly on and off or open up maps/etc, but alas i go the 12pro and even with the 7.5watt charger it tends to get warm and nowadays battery life isn't great at all so guess has it's pros and cons (i'm sure 4 years of heavy use would have done that to it anyway and the last year of wireless charging didn't impact it too much overall) but if my car had only wired carplay that would probably the way to go

Does this require a new MagSafe puck? Will the old one support the newer speed when connected to a 30W adapter and using iPhone 16?

I think yes since they announced new MagSafe pucks. I specifically remember a new length option but I believe the charging speed was implied as well.

They didn't make it clear, just like they rarely make unpleasant incompatibilities clear in the "keynote."

Slightly off-topic, I hate these new videos they are making. They wasted a good ten minutes just on transitions. Not to mention the stupid videos. This whole thing could have been a lot shorter but that would have shown that there was very little announced, especially very little actual new information.

I retrofitted dual MagSafe charging into my car's wireless charging pad area. MagSafe is critical to get the phones to stay secure, and line up the charging coils to activate/sustain charging speeds. Standard "flat" Qi + massive camera bump is a bad combo for a car charging.
Yep, same. Works much better.

Mine's at 100% still after 240 cycles. Wireless charging a majority of the time. Obviously results vary but I see no issues charging wirelessly, especially when magnets control the alignment.
Yep, my wife has almost 300 cycles and at 99%. I'm at 350 cycles and at 91%. Both of us only wireless charge. The narrative around wireless charging is utter nonsense.

Still waiting on initial wired USB-C PD 3.0 inital charging speed on iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. I believe the maximum charging rate on iPhone 16/16 Plus is 27 watts.

The cheapest power adapter that Apple sell that'll charge any new iPhone at full speed on Qi2 is the £69 35w charger (with the terrible reviews). That's $90!

They no longer sell the 30w single port adapter on the UK website tonight.

I charge with a mixture of fast charging, slow charging, and wireless charging. My 15PM bought nearly a year ago was on 100% after 202 cycles last month. Now it's on 224 cycles and 96%. The last month has been weirdly hot and it has felt roasting hot when charging quite a few times.

Lol, all these new Qi2 chargers that just got released are already made obsolete.
Yep - been saying that for a month now, that no idea why they would be all those new releases of Qi2 chargers and not to buy them. Totally obsolete.

View attachment 2414469Here is my 15 Pro's battery health after just under 12 months. 40% cabled charging (fast) and rest was 15W wireless. RIP

I'm done with fast and wireless charging unless really needed.

It's better than mine. Mine has been wireless overnight every might on an Anker charger - it's at 89% with 381 cycles as recently i've had to fast charge with cables as it doesn't last the full day anymore. Worst battery in an iPhone ever and i've had every one of them.

89% seems to be the average from what i've seen on social media too, i'm on 89% at 381 cycles.
But how are you getting through so many cycles? I use my phone a LOT and I'm on 224. I charge only to 80% and usually am above 20% by bed still.
