Haven't seen any crashes or resprings on my 16 pro, BUT spotlight no longer works as of this morning...I can't swipe down from the home screen, it does nothing. Turned it off, turned the feature back on, rebooted several times. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tim Cook’s Apple ladies and gentleman. Get used to it.

Running a company the size of Apple is a level of challenging and complexity only an extraordinarily small number of people can comprehend, including you and me. Sure, the buck stops with the CEO but this is such an immature, oversimplified perspective. These were issues under Jobs, these are the same types of issues at *any* software company. Apple is just a large target. If we had OracleRumors or WindowsRumors or SalesForceRumors, etc., people would be saying the same thing about the same types of challenges.

iOS 18 caused my iPhone 14 Pro to respring several times. The screen would go dark, display the spinning star, and go back to the lock screen, all in about 5 seconds. And there was not need to reenter passcode. A minor annoyance that shows Apple imperfect competence.

Stop apologising for trillion dollar companies and the billionaires who run them.

It's laziness, combined with contempt for their entire user base, and cost cutting to the extreme to maximise profit and shareholder happiness.

Tim Cook's only actual challenge in life is to decide if he wants his eggs scrambled or sunny side up every morning.

I had some heating up issues the first week but thats about it. I stopped using the cruddy apple cable and used a different c with not further problems. I don't use their chargers either. No weird problems, rebooting or no responsiveness

Not had re-spring but definitely had issues with screen/touch responsiveness. My theory, based on case-less use is that spurious input may be detected on the much thinner bezels and contribute to touch delays and responsiveness

yes, that's exactly what has been said about the touchscreen issue. They have software to ignore touches like from holding an uncased phone but that software was overzealous and discounted legit touches at times if perhaps a second finger was touching the screen. I use a case so never saw that problem.

Just wait until TSMC puts out their next 2Nm chip in a few years. The process can not continue to shrink forever. Likely we’re seeing the beginning of the end of the forever shrinking chip

This was an issue during the betas with my 15PM. Has happened some with my 16PM but seems much better on the most recent 18.1 beta. As others have said, I suspect memory management issue. If I tried switching from app A to B and back to A quickly I almost always had a respring.

It’s not a whole restart but a respring and it hasn’t happened to me on the latest beta. But definitely not an iPhone 16 exclusive.

It happens to me on the daily. Except it doesn’t reboot I have to manually restart the phone to get it out of the frozen zone.

Same here. I notice it every time I use the camera. It freezes up or just goes back to the main screen. The ONLY way I can fix it is to manually reboot. Then it will be okay as long as I don't use the camera.

Immature and oversimplified? Kind of like the Apple of today.

Haven't been too happy with my 16PM. Actually trying out a SamsungS24 Ultra for my work phone. Ecosystem not as clean as Apple, but I like the integration with my Windows work computer and the overall ability to super-customize it. Sticking with Apple in my personal ecosystem, however. Should have skipped the 16.
