Capture button completely flush??
Then the cases will be fun.

The position still needs to be little lower though, so that it feels more natural to press like the old cameras.

I feel like I’ve been buying the same phone for years. Lol. We’re never getting rid of this camera design huh? It just gets bigger by the year.

It’s a physical limitation of the optics. They can cram a bunch of prisms and mirrors in there to mitigate it some but that comes at the cost of image quality degradation. Apple tries to address that in software but it results in over processed images, some of which look down right weird.

If Apple was actually serious about photography they’d make a dedicated camera and let iPhone have a phone camera in it. One that can fit closer to flush with the case. Most people don’t need 40 megapixel raw shots from a long telephoto and when they do they’ll use a dedicated camera, not a phone.

Really? Why?
Consistency with iPads. And, as already noted, to prevent accidental screenshots and similar mispresses such as when trying to take a picture in landscape orientation. The power button was on top until the iPhone 6 was released.

Makes sense to me. On top like iPad.

Really feel the camera design needs shake up. It’s getting boring now 😩
I agree. I understand the design works for them but jeez.

iPhone 11 Pro
iPhone 12 Pro
iPhone 13 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro
iPhone 15 Pro
iPhone 16 Pro

The same 3 stove top camera design. Lol. I’d assume they would have added a 4th one by now and the Non-Pro series would have gotten the 3.

And everyone wonders why iphone sales are dropping. It's the same design 5 years running. Just do something else already.

Adding buttons when the objetive was to get rid of them altogether. I don’t like the new smart button, every now and then I press it by mistake, that didn’t happened before. Bad decisions by a design clueless Apple.

Honestly, they should just rename this year’s iPhones the “15s” and focus on actually bringing some meaningful improvements to next year’s iPhones like a smaller Dynamic Island, good battery lives that rivals Samsung’s, and a smaller camera bump.

Well, there are a lot of factors pointing towards the potential end of Tim Cook’s tenure. No one is especially happy about the car project collapsing and the Vision doesn’t seem to have the heat they needed it to have. People have been unhappy about iPhone’s lack of innovation for years and we just learned that Jeff Williams replaced the last standing senior designer on the executive team.

Me? I’m expecting Craig Federighi will be measuring up drapes for his new office soon.

I genuinely believe Apple has run out of innovative ideas. Add a button, to replace what you can do almost instantly on screen? How difficult is it to tap your screen, and tap the bottom right camera icon to take a photo? I once remember how Apple wanted to SIMPLIFY the user experience, thinner phones, less buttons, one hand control, no need for an explanation of the UI…BUT, here we are…ADD MORE BUTTONS

Perhaps they will. The naming nomenclature isn’t official.

Precisely. Jony Ive left for what are now becoming VERY apparent reasons. He saw the writing on the wall.

This is even WORSE. It’s almost as if you will have to find a new way to hold your phone to not press a button.

It’s hard to press the screen with gloves or wet hands.

Looks like no changes other than the new Capture button. Action Button may have something to do with the new upcoming AI functionality.

It’s as though they have no left handed engineers or product testers. I suppose the fact that the button sits a little higher than expected points toward maybe one lefty in the room. Placing it where a camera shutter button is expected would have made nearly impossible for lefties to hold the phone without pressing it.

I can hardly change the volume with my thumb without taking a screenshot with the top button now on the side. They put that button right where lefties want to press on the frame to balance the torque while changing the volume. This new button is right about where my middle finger will wrap around the phone while holding it.

I’ve always wished they’d do the same thing they do with iPad: there is no “wrong way up.”

I know, I know. That won’t work on iPhone. Don’t get worked up y’all.
