They keep making phones that are "bigger" but not really, just taller. I actually want a phone that's 18.5:9 or 2:1 or even 17:9. That would actually give me a big screen. Since I can't use a phone one handed no matter what, I want a wide screen that makes everything look bigger at least, rather than these dumb candy bars

This bezel nonsense has to stop, i cant hold my phone anymore. What‘s next? A screen on the frame? So i constantly have input noise?

Yeah these long formats look stupid and are uncomfortable to type on.

If they remove the notch even at the cost of removing front camera/face ID, I would say that’s real innovation worth upgrading. Now it is just some basic flexing

While Samsung and Google are pushing mobile software with AI forward, Apple are doing cosmetic crap like this with no real usefulness for the user.
Yeah but neither these guys make something actually worthy for the user. The goal of their AI is to collect more user data for more profit and more ads served to the end user. I would like to remind that Android still has no AbBlocker support which iPhone had since iOS 10 or so, you either use Brave browser or just surf with web full of ads

When you run out of ideas how to make the device actually better, this is what you focus on. So much courage from apple.

Unpopular opinion: I care about bezel size reduction. Makes the phone look sleeker.

Everyone here saying they don’t care should compare the iPhone X’s bezels to the 15 Pro’s.
Diminishing returns. That is like comparing the 1st gen ipad to current ones in terms of bezels. Obviously a device 7+ years old should look vastly different but put this next to the last 2-3 models and see if anyone could tell you the bezel was smaller.

As long as the bigger screen doesn’t increase the dimensions of the phone I’m good with it. If it’s going to make the phone bigger, well for me personally it’s already at the limit for practicality when it comes to size. Bigger is just going to be too big. I really feel like 6.5-6.7” is the sweet spot for a phone.
It's definitely going to be bigger. Some mock-ups are floating around on twitter (X) and it's a noticeable size increase even with the smaller bezels. (15 pro vs 16 pro)

Why is Apple’s only record breaking tied to the thinness of products, rather than user experience and quality?

See the lower audio quality of the new iPad Pro. Thinnest device ever, but a drop in audio quality and output as a cost.

Apple needs new leadership.
I didn't hear about the audio issues. (Pun not intended, maybe... 🤔)

It’s a common complaint on these forums and Reddit. The thinner body sacrifices acoustic quality. I also believe they had to change the shape of the speakers themselves to fit the new body, oval to round.

Wider? So it's harder to type with one hand? Ridiculous. I like it.

6.1" is already uncomfortable to type one-handed on. If they want to make it bigger, might as well make it wider so the virtual keys have more horizontal area.
Haha, yes. Perhaps I should've have specified that I want the bigger iPhone to be wider.

But even the smaller iPhone is big now, so there's that.

I feel sorry for small-hand, one-handed typists.

But when it comes to phones, I'm a size queen. 😉

Oh I don't doubt it for a second. It would be some amazing engineering to keep the stellar sound (IMHO) of the previous generation.

As someone who is happy with their M1 purchase a few years ago, I haven't read/watched any reviews on the new M4's. This is the first I've read about it in the general comments.

Sorry, but this overall design is getting stale..... Same basic design as the 11..... thinner is fine but it still looks like a 5 year old phone. I miss Jony.

100%

I get capitalizing on IP and a general aesthetic, but this is getting really rather tired.

It's not from anything but lack of actual effort.

They are just milking us all with tiny nothing burger improvements (and seemingly raising prices anywhere they can)

Seems thinner bezels could also make the screen more susceptible to damage.

Apple and it's desire for thin!!!!

What's silly is thinking .7mm more screen space is going to allow you to consume more content!! (and that was from iPhone 15 spec). How much thinner are the bezels on the 16 going to be? Come on...really?
Quite a decent amount, actually. And if you’re coming from anything older than an iPhone 15, then a substantial amount. Enough to consider purchasing a standard model versus a Max.
