Unless you’re not near a wall outlet or car charger for an entire day I don’t see battery life being an issue. But there are battery packs for that use case

Since Apple is recommending not charging your phone beyond 80% in order to keep the battery healthy, any increase in battery size is welcome to reclaim the 20% we lost. I bet that it's going to be way more than an extra hour. I bet the increase will be from 29 hours to 34 hours because of 5g optimization.
I paid for the 100% so I’m using 100. Why would I limit myself

Battery life on my 15 pro is horrible! My girlfriend runs my 2,5 year old iPhone 13 Pro at 87% Health and the battery lasts so much longer…

I think the same article comes out every year. Of course what are they going to say? "The iphone 16 will have the worst battery ever" Battery life all comes down to how you use the phone. I need to charge mine daily because I use it a lot. My wife who uses her's less only needs to charge every other day (she has iPhone 15 I have 15 Pro Max)

Yeah I'll believe that when I see it. The 15 Pro Max is no better than the 14 Pro Max which was no better than the 13 Pro Max. I'd actually argue that the 15 Pro Max is the worst of the three, at least for me.

Every year these "efficiency" discussions happen which never amount to anything in real world usage.

The problem is that the increased efficiency is offset by software/OS that uses more power, as well as often a physically smaller battery. Apple, Samsung, and all the rest have basically decided that current "all day" battery life is good enough for most users so they don't actually try to make them last any longer. If they make a breakthrough with efficiency, rather than use it to make the battery last longer, they'll make the battery smaller to make the phone thinner and lighter instead.

Personally, even though my 14 Pro Max easily lasts through a full day and then some, I would love for it to easily last 2-3 days or more.

Same rumour as every year, then a few weeks before there's the rumour of it having worse battery life and then in the end, its about the same...

I maen in theory it should be better this year because the phone itself is getting a size increase.
Well if the screen is getting larger and the processor faster most likely it uses more power your theory might be wrong.

Perhaps... but at this point the processor speed is already more than adequate so it won't be anything massive improvement wise.

Apple isn't recommending it. They gave that as an option for people who wanted it; it's not pre-enabled, and it's not encouraged.

People have reported that Apple enabled that feature on their phone. It got enabled on my phone, too. In fact, that feature is also available for Windows 11 (Windows 10, too) and Microsoft actually enabled that on my laptop. I replaced a battery because it didn't last long only to find out that this setting was enabled.

Below is a link from Apple.

People don't want "Don't charge above 80%". - the logic is absolutely stupid. In order for me to have 100% capacity, I should limit it to 80%?". I'll take it further. If I never chose that and my battery degraded to 90%, that's 10% more capacity than what I am currently using! Sorry - not buying your "it's an option for people who wanted it". Come on!

If you know anything about Apple and Steve Jobs - one of the biggest concerns that they have had for the longest time was how much energy was their devices using. Can they make the processor faster and how can they make it more energy efficient than ever before. They care about efficiencies. They care about battery technology. Simple.

I am appalled with memory size of just 8GB in iphone 16 pro max! That's a pure shame and really insufficient for 2024! Expect again no more than 3 apps in memory, state management deferred to app developers, lot's of bugs on restoring state (even in google apps lots of bugs when app offloaded from memory and than reloaded in iphone). My galaxy note 20 Ultra had 12 gb memory back 4 years from now.

When Apple engineers a means for easy battery replacement... CALL ME. The fact that Tim Apple refuses to make extended product life possible via battery replacment is A CRIME. Example: non-replaceable batteries in trackpads and keyboards and mice. I have earlier versions of all these devices WHICH ARE FUNCTIONALLY THE SAME as the current devices. I use Enloop batteries in rotation to keep them all running. Mother Earth (Octavia) is extremely pleased with these older devices. My preference for Apple has been dramatically reduced because Tim Apple seems to want to force the replacement of an entire device every few years when its LION battery dies. My trackpad, keyboard, and mouse are essentially THE SAME as Apple's current devices with non-replaceable batteries. I will keep them forever thanks to Enloop while Tim cashes in his options on the forced replacment of the same devices because of non-replaceable batteries in the newer products. Enoy your billions Tim -- your clan of yes-men undoubtedly keeps telling you how great you are.

Cook: bean counter.
