It has to be tough to be a product manager at Apple, knowing you’re faced with the challenge of having to continue to find and add new and improved technologies, including screen brightness, while also maintaining or improving battery life - and to do both without any massive size changes. There seem to be a lot of techie people who simply expect everything and are disappointed when Apple can’t provide whatever feature they think is easy to provide, because they don’t understand the trade-offs that every decision has.

Given we really seem to be getting close to the pinnacle of what’s possible with current physics and production capabilities of smart phones, I’d be completely happy if Apple spend the next couple of iterations of iPhone focusing on maximizing battery life and not pushing the limits with the screen, cameras, etc. I’m guessing I’m not alone in this desire.

Solid state batteries in consumer products are still at least a decade away:

Call your shot..
What’s first..

A useful Apple Vision Pro in a stylish glasses form factor that goes mass market

or

Solid state batteries in Apple products

A solid third option is: “We are all dead before either happens”

Weird. I actually got better battery life on my 14 Pro Max than I do the 15 Pro Max. Neither of them are great though tbh.

Only experience with 15 PRo Max = just messin around w one briefly at an Apple Store…so only day to day knowledge is of 14 Pr Max…and all I know is it’s a million times better than my previous 12 pro. I’m sorry but they shouldn’t be called “pro” if battery life isn’t just amazing, srsly. The other day went from 100-1% from 2:32pm to 1:19pm the next day. Love it
To extend the life of your battery

Just have Apple care with theft/loss and get battery replaced as soon as hitting 80% and don’t even think twice abt it. There are types who prefer to keep the charge as close to 100% as possible at all times. I’ve met them personally

The problem is that the increased efficiency is offset by software/OS that uses more power, as well as often a physically smaller battery. Apple, Samsung, and all the rest have basically decided that current "all day" battery life is good enough for most users so they don't actually try to make them last any longer. If they make a breakthrough with efficiency, rather than use it to make the battery last longer, they'll make the battery smaller to make the phone thinner and lighter instead.

Personally, even though my 14 Pro Max easily lasts through a full day and then some, I would love for it to easily last 2-3 days or more.
Yeah would be nice to have at least a two day phone so basically double or 2.5x what the pro maxes do now. Then the regular devices close to what pros do currently …

As for watch series it may be changing on upcoming devices but if it remains regular then ultra, regulars should be what ultra batteries are now and new ultras maybe close to double current ultras…I mean that’s abt 4-6 days so…aren’t there some smart watches at 10 days? That’s insane.

I know it’s not exactly an equal comparison regarding watch battery life, but Garmin’s Epix Pro‘s can go as long as 30 days between charging. They’re not the same level of smart as the Watch or Watch Ultra, and they’re far more chunky and masculine looking, which may or may not fit with everyone’s expectations. I’ve had my older Garmin Epix for almost 2 years now and get 2 weeks between charges, ~10 days when I’m doing a lot of riding outside and using GPS, which has been the most freeing thing since I switched from an Apple Watch. I wear the Epix 24/7, only taking it off when it needs to charge, or when I switch bands (typically after workouts).

I’m traveling in California this week and didn’t need to bring a charger, even though I fully charged the Epix mid-last week. Apple should absolutely be working to extend battery life on their Watches, iPhones and iPads.

longest battery ever yet I/we get penalized for using features. gotta turn off 10 cool features to get decent battery life lol crazy.

Day 1: iPhone 16 released with longest lasting battery
Day 2: "I only charge up to 70% to extend the overall life of my battery"
Day 366: *trades it in for the iPhone 17*

... 10 years later ...

Day 1: iPhone 26 released with longest lasting battery!
Day 2: "I only charge up to 30% to extend the overall life of my battery"
Day 366: *trades it in for the iPhone 27*

Yeah I'll believe that when I see it. The 15 Pro Max is no better than the 14 Pro Max which was no better than the 13 Pro Max. I'd actually argue that the 15 Pro Max is the worst of the three, at least for me.

Every year these "efficiency" discussions happen which never amount to anything in real world usage.
If Apple finally decides to use stacked battery technology this year, we should get a significant boost in battery life. Of course, until we get confirmation Apple is using it, we’re just speculating like usual.

Bigger battery is good. Will ensure that the battery life will remain the same with the larger screen of 16 Pro Max

Which will happen first: Apple putting a 5000+ mAh battery in a flagship phone like other phone manufacturers, or Apple putting 16 GB in an entry-level MacBook Air / iMac? :p

(not holding my breath for either one)
You're joking, but at least the battery size is a design limitation, they're doing their best to fit as large a battery in as possible with their enclosure. With the RAM, it's gimped on purpose.

Wonder what kind of battery life I could get with the 15 Pro Max

I have a 13 Mini and with my current usage patterns and optimization of Settings….

I get around 2 days of usage. I’ve been getting 10+ hours over the course of those two days.

How’s it possible to absorb a screen increase larger then the existing bezels by reducing the bezels 🤔
