When I was more or less forced for health reasons (extreme sensitivity to the display) to go from my much loved iPhone 14 Pro Max back to a refurbished 12 Pro Max, I have to say I thought of you and how you’ve gotten a lot of good use out of your iPhone X and I thought of all the great photos you’ve shared from that phone. That gave me a measure of comfort in case I have to stay on the 12 Pro Max for a few years.

I hope when you do make the move to a new model, that you get many years of enjoyment out of it as you’ve done with your iPhone X. If that’s what you want to do.
Thank you for those kind words. As I have aged I take things in perspective. The iPhone X was probably one of the most expensive items I ever purchased after I started making some food money. But beyond that, I capture video and photos almost everyday that look great and don’t seem
to be of any lesser quality than what I see on an iPhone 14. At the end of the day, it captures great memories just as it did in 2017.

And stop that oil painting HDR over processing California touch to all pictures!
iPhone images USED to look good. Now they're terrible. For exactly this reason.

I find myself taking a video then grabbing a screencap the video if I want something that isn't absolutely stepped on until it's lifeless AF.

The portrait mode shots are great, but the lag. My god the lag is insane between shutter press and capture. Even on my latest and greatest iPhone 14 Pro.

300 mm is kind of average for a telephoto on a DSLR, not super by any stretch, 800-1000 would take that kind of designation, even at 300 though shake is a real problem as the magnification amplifies it, better have pretty good stabilisation

At some point, Apple should really consider making a camera with some phone/smartphone features

I would pay pretty coin for such device. Mix in some Nikon optics and I would literally carry the Apple photo camera in bed with me.

Give us 64 MP on all lenses! And stop that oil painting HDR over processing California touch to all pictures!
The idea of 45 MP to 64 MP although not meaningless is generally not substantive all by itself. And as to "oil painting HDR over processing," I am a photographer and do not observe oil painting HDR over processing on properly shot pix. I suggest folks who have that problem work on technique.

"Super telephoto" sounds about right for something apple would name. It took a lot of courage to include this SUPER TELEPHOTO lens and we think you will love it..
You may intend to diss Apple for their nomenclature, but the term super telephoto existed in photography before Apple made its first Mac.

I'd love a super tele, but can the current image stabilization handle it?
Folks like to ignore the realities of proper photo capturing, but there are always consequences. Apple does an amazing job of computational photography, but the realities of proper photo capturing are real. In-body image stabilization is a photo tool, not magic. Users need to learn photo competence if they intend tele pix. And even normal pix visually improve when properly shot.

please stop trying to differentiate the pro and the pro max. They’re already differentiated by size. I don’t like the max size for me - too big and heavy. The pro is borderline too heavy but I like the features. What I don’t like, is buying a ‘pro’ phone (made up marketing name but whatever) and finding ‘oh no you really wanted the pro pro phone’.

feature parity please

So basically pro max will be one step ahead of the normal pro even next year when the regular pro gets periscope lens

Just let me arrange my home screen however I want!!!!!

Just let me MOVE photos to a new album I create!!!!

That is one of the peeves about photos. I would love for them to disappear out of the All Photos album and only reside in the album I move them to. That would clear up the All Photos Album.

I could see that as an option but iI think the point of "All Photos" is to have all photos. ;)

I should have been clear when I meant that I don’t like having the photos that I have in a dedicated album to also show up in All Photos. I would rather the photos not appear twice.

Yes…super annoying! Photos reside in ONE place unless I intentionally copy it to another album. The way it is now is dumb, imo. If I want to create a “fish” album, I should be able to go into all photos and remove all pics of fish into the “fish” album.

No, I understood. I was just being a bit pedantic. For me, if I'm looking for a photo and I don't remember where I stuck it, it would be nice to know it's in All Photos. Again, it would be a nice option for Apple to take on.

I know. It would be an awesome feature to have and is one of the reasons why I haven’t really separated my photos into other albums in the last 3 years.

Not as long as Sony and Apple are competitors in so many markets. That said, such a fix would be absolutely great - Sony hardware but without the (imho) terrible Sony software/menus and phone apps.

My sort of dream camera would be if Sony got rid of their entire menu system on a future camera and put a simpler Android based interface that could use apps. So imagine using gcam on a full frame Sony, we’ve seen what it can do on a pixel, full frame sensor and optics omg. Imagine doing Astro photography without the need to stack and edit a zillion pictures and not needing a tracker.

I can dream.

The challenge is to have fast enough sensor readout so multiple photos could be taken quickly enough to avoid motion artifacts. So far only cameras like the Sony A9, Nikon Z8/9, and Fuji XH2S are approaching that kind of speed, but they are expensive with the full frame cameras priced around five or six grand; the Fuji is a relative bargain in the stacked sensor crowd costing around half of the others. Zeiss made the ZX1 which runs a stripped down Android and Lightroom Mobile natively. Sony also made both a 1" and APSC camera which you attached to your phone.

I’m kind of surprised we haven’t seen a global shutter yet, maybe the iPhone ultra could just have a mount in the back so you can attach one of these, I wonder what the crop factor would be? 😳☺️

I think the Nikon is the first with a shutterless camera, but even with global you still need to have really fast sensor readout to avoid motion artifacts while stacking the exposures.
