Flolab just sent the following after I had requested an update:
“We’re working hard on the new updated version. It’s currently under testing and should be ready in about 1-2 weeks, fastest 1 week. We want to ensure everything is perfect before delivering it to you. “

I got mine yesterday and initially I had the same issue as you. Lots of bubbles. Eventually I was able to work it out and looks perfect. No dust visible even directly under the sun. Installation was a lot harder than the cheaper version for some reason.

Two caveats though:
1. It does cover a little bit of the edges. Probably a bit less than the cheaper version I had before, but still there.
2. Don't see anything "anti-reflective". Kind of the same as the cheaper version I had.

Kind of disappointed that I spent 40 bucks for something marginally better (at best) than what I had. But oh well, that's my OCD and search for a perfect protector, that doesn't seem to exist yet.
Thanks for replying. I’m guessing the cheaper version is the one I recently ordered, the 2-pack for about $27 with no anti-reflective coating. For the new anti-reflective version, how did you work out all the different sized and multitude of bubbles? What part, if any, of the installation tray did you put pressure or slide your finger? That’s a shame that you don’t see anything “anti-reflective” about it.
I am against spending $40 for a screen protector, but I figured since it’s an investment, it’s worth a shot. I wish Spigen would get their act together, but they have no answers about when to order from them.

Rubbing with the finger - pushing bubbles to the edges. Eventually it warms up I guess, and they just start moving / fading away easier.

I've read in some places that applying a hairdryer for a short time (15 secs) works as it's easier to move them warm but haven't tried that method.

Started with the super cheap esr 3 pack on Amazon and have hated it for the last month. Been following this thread for something better. Finally pulled the trigger on a brand I’ve used in years past and I have to say these Walmart by Corning have never disappointed me and this is no exception. No rainbow effect at all and the finger printing is non existent (especially compared to the abhorrent coating on the esr). This will likely be staying on my device for good.

I tried rubbing with my finger on the frame, and let it sit for a minute with the frame on. Pushing the bubbles with the squeegee and using my fingers pushing with the microfiber cloth they give you wouldn’t do it. I never tried a hairdryer.

Let’s hope they deliver!

Tell them to fix their olephobic coating while they are at it lol after a month that screen protector looks like an oil spill 😂 but love it besides that!

I’ve tried both. I prefer the Belkin. The Ultraglass is slightly thicker and, at least with the copy I had, it blocked a small portion of the screen. I’ve yet to try a screen protector with a border this year that didn’t block some of the screen.

Here’s a list of the thicknesses of some popular protectors. The Belkin, being the thinnest, is likely more fragile, but also leaves the most case lip above the screen, which is nice for minimalist cases. Arguably, it also has the best touch sensitivity. UltraGlass doesn’t provide the thickness of their products, but the anti-reflective seems to be between.3-.5 mm. Their standard product is thicker, more like the Torras (perhaps even identical, they might use the same OEM).

Belkin UltraGlass 2 - .29 mm
ESR Armorite - .30 mm
UltraGlass Anti-Reflective - ??
Spigen Glas.tR - .51 mm
Torras GlassGo - .71 mm
@Zensō If you go careless do you think as you say "leaves the most case lip above the screen", that you might find eg swiping from the bottom, you 'catch' the screen protecter?

Yes, perhaps. If you're going caseless, you may want to wait for the "Hot Bend" Flolab which is due out soon. It will have curved edges that follow the contour of the phone's screen, making caseless swipes smoother.

My dBrand one just came today, it was actually great to put on. It comes with a little thing used so it lines up perfectly with the phone and you just peel a tab and squeegee out any remaining bubbles with the squeegee they provide. They provide two full kits too when you purchase so you can save the other if you break the first protector.

Can you post some photos of the coverage? How’s the oleophobic coating?

Ok thanks for the info about the "Hot Bend" Flolab screen protecters. I may anyway try the Belkin as I can get one applied at a local Apple store and get it removed within my within 14 days if I don't like it.

Can someone tell me what the big deal is about Flolab screen protectors? I suppose I'll have to try one myself, but I see them mentioned on here so much.

Just replying to post pictures of my dbrand on my 16PM, which I applied this morning. Oleophobic coating seems good, but we’ll see how it holds up over the next few weeks. Very happy with it. Pretty much edge to edge coverage, and no black borders.

Coverage looks good but I’m not a fan of those borders.

I haven’t noticed any sort of rainbow effect when the phone is turned on. I think once I put the case back on, it probably won’t be too visible. Right now, since I’m at home, I’m enjoying it being “naked”, lol. Doesn’t feel slippery at all, imo.

How can it not come with dust stickers
Isn't that like the most important part of the installation, removing the dust from the screen?
The tab you pull at the bottom of the installation tray is supposed to clean the dust as you pull down. I just used the wet wipe and my own (much larger) microfiber cloth. There was no dust underneath the screen protector after the install. Maybe it’s because I put on a screen protector during my unboxing on day 1, idk.

Agreed. The 16 Pro’s feel amazing in hand. Probably my favorite feeling phone since the X. You should look at the Suti PhoneBack.

I have a few cases, but they’re fingerprint magnets, which I find very annoying. Right now, I’m waiting on my Ghost 2.0 replacement case. The first one was pretty good at not showing fingerprints. Very hard to get off the phone though. I like to take it out of it’s case and clean it once a week or so. I wish I was gutsy enough to go caseless. I’ve been lucky enough to never have dropped my phone, but I would probably jinx myself and drop it right away if I did go caseless. Paranoia, I guess. 🤷🏼‍♀️
