At this point I just want something that is thin and will not interfere with touch sensitivity. I don’t care for the gaps anymore. Any suggestions? Something really thin because the touch sensitivity is annoying or could just be my dry finger tips

At .29mm the Belkin UltraGlass 2 is the thinnest glass screen protector that I’m aware of. There are thinner but they’re sapphire, which is pricey.

Has anyone tried hydrogel protectors like JDHDL and yiloxo?

I can’t find much in terms of feedback. Amazon reviews are very mixed and the only YouTube videos are from the manufacturers.

I keep looking for a good option but so far this has been my experience with protectors for the 16 PM:

I’ve always used Spigen EZ for for all my phone with awesome results. But for my 16 PM the corners don’t stick. From current Amazon reviews it seems some of the protectors are still coming out with this issue.

I tried Ailun and they stick perfectly but have the rainbow effect in the corners. Wondering if ESR are better as some reviewers mention the rainbow effect only when tilting the phone.

Flolab: I really dislike the black border covering part of the screen even in the updated one. Plus they are expensive. The warranty is great but having to wait for a replacement is inconvenient.

I wasted 2 screen protectors from spigen. bot pealed off from corners. It was a surprise to me because I used spigen on all my devices they were enough for 2 years cycle (at the time I upgraded phone I still had 1 unused - they come in two).

What I noticed is that this year's spigen is a bit thicker than the one from 15 plus. Its really easy to separate the glue part from the glass just by using nails. When I compare it to the one on the Samsung S24 Ultra, I can't do that because I could hurt myself.

Another thing I noticed when I looked closely at the phone with the screen protector in the phone case was that it looked to me as if the case was wrong (some corners were a bit more visible above the display with the protector and some was very close). This is not noticeable on the screen without it. All the corners are the same thickness and all the edges are the same height above the screen.

So in the end, when it comes to Spigen, it looks to me like a bad batch and there is a difference in the thickness of the glue layer, and that's why the protector is peeling off...

... anyway, I'm now without a screen protector on my 16PM (probably a bad idea), so I'm trying to find one that will fit better. I am thinking about Torras. Has anyone tried it?

The Torras is thick. Here are a few stats:

Belkin UltraGlass 2 - .29 mm
ESR Armorite - .30 mm
FloLab - .33 mm
Spigen Glas.tR - .51 mm
Torras GlassGo - .71 mm

I like the Belkin. The caveat is that it’s pretty expensive and you only get one protector in the package so mistakes are costly. Having it installed at an Apple Store bypasses that issue though.

My experience is similar to yours. I had an Spigen protector on my previous 14 PM for two years without any issue. Now it peels on all borders.

As of today I still see new reviews on Amazon of both, perfectly fitting protectors and ones with the edges peeling. So it is probably not just one bad batch.

Thanks for the info on thickness. I had no idea Spigen was that thick!

Do you have the thickness for the regular ESR and Ailun protectors?

And does the Belkin has a rainbow effect or black border?

Thanks

The bezels have gotten so small that any slight deviation from perfect shows up now. The Belkin and the revised FloLab with the .7 mm bezel have the best fit from most reports.

I had mentioned one of those earlier in this thread. Someone did try one and mentioned that it was not good.

Hello, not been keeping up with this thread, but is there any consensus on the best matte screen protector for a 16 Pro? I don't use a case so compatibility isn't a concern to me. Clarity is a big one to me though - over the years many matte protectors have annoyed me for making the screen grainy etc. The other most important thing to me is that it's a close as 'edge-to-edge' as possible. I hate being able to feel the lip of a protector when swiping etc. If that means a black sloped border as I seen on some protectors then that's fine by me, I know that bothers some people but not me.

The other ESR is also .30. Not sure about the Ailun.

The Belkin does not have a black border. It does show some rainbow effect, but it’s fairly minimal compared to some.

Thanks. I wish some of the cheaper vendors did one that fit as well. Flolab and and Belkin are expense for what you get. And the warranty replacement takes time

All current protectors don’t reach the edge and have sharp or rounded corners but can be felt.

Flolab has been working on a hot bend glass protector that would be more edge to edge. I think it is supposed to be released in January.

If the new FloLab is like other hot bend protectors, it may not work with some cases.

This. IMOS already has a hot bend screen protector, its nice but unless you have one of the leather case that leaves a small sliver o the titanium band showing, this thing ain’t fitting with a case.
Yeah, I think they’re mostly for people who go caseless.

had one speck of dust under my updated flolab, which had this airbubble around it. OCD kicked in try to lift and remove, which ultimately ended up in having more dust under the protector.

So, if you are OCD perhaps cheaper options with multiple protectors in the package could work better and by any means do not try to remove a speck, it only will get worse.
Same thing happened to me!
I have an tiny air bubble in the bottom corner. Tried lifting but no improvement and another dust particle is now under the screen protector.

What did you do in the end? Did you remove the Flolab or are you just living with it? I do think every screen protector should come with two, just incase you mess up the first install. Flolab's are also expensive so they should really provide two screen protectors!

I’m not impressed with the new Flolab protector. The oleophobic coating retains smudges worse than any other protector I’ve used. I also have an air bubble that won’t go away on the edge (it goes away when I press on it but then returns). For the price of this, plus the fact that you have to pay for shipping for any exchanges / returns, I won’t be purchasing from them again.
Exact same thing with me! An air bubble in the bottom corner that won't go away. Which protector are you using now?
The flolab is too expensive especially with shipping like you said to have these issues. It's not like you can return it easily like if you bought it from Amazon which makes it even more annoying.

The cheap Ailun screen protectors off Amazon. Got them for all my iPhones and my 16PM, they work great, are cheap and there is zero reason to buy a 50 dollar screen protector. Even if you have a warranty that can cover it, 7 bucks for 3 is way cheaper than 50 for two or three.

@charlesdayton I was curious and found that the Ailun is .33mm thick, so pretty standard.
