Even the regular size went from 4” to 6.3”
The regular phone soon will be the former max size 6.7”

If that happens, then I will kindly tip my hat and bow out of the iPhone ecosystem. I had the 8 Plus for three years and never got used to the size.

...that said, I don't think regular will ever get that big.

TBH; I'm shocked that a massive company such as Apple with so much talent in there cant ship Apple Intelligence at launch. I feel like there is something in terms of politics/approvals going behind the scenes thats impacting it and not purely just need more time to test it.
Imagine if they rushed it and there were issues...people would than complain about that.

Still going to pick up my 16 pro max preorder on Friday. Though this is by far my least enthusiastic upgrade. I have wished for a camera button for ages (I’ve even considered the Sony phones), but besides that button they didn’t announce a lot of new stuff along with it. And since the 15 pro and 16 pro have the same ram I doubt there will be anything next year at WWDC to take advantage of just the 16 hardware.

Meh, my iPhone 15 Pro Max works for me just fine. I didn't really care about the camera button or the slightly bigger size etc. Maybe next year who knows. But what does the fox say?

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." - A quote about video games but works for software in general.

Also a quote that is always attributed to Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo but apparently he didn't actually ever say it.

Whoever said it was right!

Edit: To those who keep replying, yes No Man's Sky did it. Is there another example?

Here we go with the, "The iPhone 16 Pro is more evolutionary than revolutionary. Has the Apple lost it's shine?"

Everything about the phone is moderate updates like normal. Yes it is technically the best phone they have ever released because it is an updated phone, will they ever release and have a tagline "Slightly worse new phone we have ever released!" no. Everyone's needs are different, but I see nothing that has me wanting to replace my regular old 13.

"Congratulations, you bought the same phone (twice) thrice."

Many of us will pay around $250 for this procedure. It's the same phone maybe, but they make it seem like it's new.

Then there's the unboxing, and there's another button.

Shopping for cases comes with this. Size increase makes this mandatory. They removed the leather case, so you now have to shop around, or something.

AI tech and use opportunities/cases, especially for phones, will be constantly evolving with time over the coming years.

Thus I'm OK with how Apple is choosing to roll it out.

I'd much rather have it being released slowly, refined and well tested, with interesting uses/applications, and most importantly with user security paramount. Rather than an AI dump that's not interesting or useful, that works poorly and/or is not user-secure, just to meet some deadline.

Apple is on the right track considering the above.

Also... Many here believe Apple just recently got the "Hey... AI should be in our phones - let's do it, stat!" idea this year. That's laughable. No doubt in my mind there's been a strategic vision formulating regarding how AI can be effectively used in Apple products by Apple customers going back quite some time.

Oh I know, was half sarcastic. I'm usually an annual upgrader myself.

No regular here should be surprised, disappointed or mad, that the new 16 Pro model is another small spec bump from the 15 Pro. Apple has been very consistent in this area.

The one thing that ha really started to annoy me in the last 3 years, is Apple’s penchant for announcing new features and then delaying the software release until some future date in time, which often translates to a long, long wait. I would rather Apple not account new software features until they were ready to rot with the next iPhone release. However, we all know that that won’t happen.

I’m upgrading from the 15 Pro Max (since I’m on the Apple Upgrade Program) but this definitely seems to be an “S” year. It’s a refined 15 Pro with slightly bigger screens, better battery life, better camera and faster processor.

I’m ok with it, but I know a lot aren’t. Smartphones have more or less hit the refinement stage, like cars, watches, TV’s, etc.

Year over year updates are going to be relatively minor but if you upgrade every 2-3 years, they add up.
To be honest the 15 was an S year
