It seems to me that AI was closer to production for the new iPhones before Elon declared war on the Apple/Open AI partnership.
There is no way Apple showed the AI integration, made the announcement around "glow" and AI.. just to end up bringing it later on as a software update.
and by later on... it seems like it will be spring next year.
Something went very wrong.

  • She is one of the few Apple Watch reviewers that seem to regularly drive with her watches, showing off all of the functionality relating to the diving functions, which I appreciate (even if I am not a diver)
  • Her Mac and IPad reviews always test out things like display support, which not a lot of people do (particularly iPads)
  • She demonstrates a lot of camera functions in her iPhone reviews
I think she is actually one of the better reviewers out there. I wonder why she gets so much hate 🧐
To be honest, she seemed very forced and fake with her reviews with her over smiling, and hardly really criticize Apple for anything

Still on my 14PM. This is the longest I’ve ever had an iPhone. I used to get a new one every single year. The one and only reason I want to upgrade it to finally get all my devices on USB C but honestly I think I’ll wait until the 17 at this point unless I can find a good used deal on a 15PM.

USBC is nice, but I still have USBC Airpods Pro 2. It seems like there are enough lighting cables still left at restaurants and bars and such (along with Q charging pads in hotels) to keep a lightning device into 2025/2026…

Seriously considering canceling my order and sticking with the iPhone 13 Pro for another year. This is a tough one.

Wish they still sold the 13 Pro Max. I would by another one.

I'm sorry... what?!

First of all, at the end of the day, I'm not saying you should upgrade, you do you. But I wanna look at the logic here.

These are absolutely WILD takes, IMO. I agree these phones are expensive, and everyone has a different mindset of what is valuable to them, but... like... are you reading the articles and seeing the comparison to the iPhone 15 Pro and thinking it applies to you?

Lets compare the iPhone 13 Pro to 16 Pro shall we? Lets also exclude AI completely for this arguments sake.

- Larger, Brighter, AOD displays
- Dynamic Island
- Titanium (Despite the 16 Pro being larger, it is still 0.16oz lighter)
- 30% faster CPU
- 8GB of RAM vs 6GB.
- Cell Modem Improvements
- Satellite Connectivity
- WiFi 6E/7
- BT 5.3
- Dual Band GPS
- Camera Upgrades
- Mic Array Upgrade
- Action Button
- Camera Button
- USB C with 10Gbps
- Better Battery Life
- Crash Detection
- 2x Faster wireless and wired charging speeds
EDIT: -- improved thermal performance.

Objectively, that's a lot of upgrades over the 13 Pro.

One of you is considering, CANCELLING your PRE-ORDER, in that case why did you pre-order in the first place if a comparison to the 15 pro is enough to dissuade you.

The other, wants to REBUY a 3 YEAR OLD phone.

Genuinely baffling takes IMO. What even is going on here.

Any phone you buy today unless you never had a foldable is a iterative upgrade and it will be that way for the next couple years at least especially with Apple. If you coming from iPhone 13 series or less this is a very reasonable upgrade; if you do side to side comparisons. Im still stuck with lightning port for goodness sake with iPhone 13 pro max until Friday smh.

Anyone take a look at Joanna Stern's review? Giving us a chatbot to ask questions about the phone and her take on it is actually really fun. Unfortunately their backend thinks the 15 Pro was made of steel but that's neither here nor there.

My logic for buying is that I haven’t had a new phone in three years. What I’m questioning is whether this year’s model is worth the financial jump. You list off all of those things but don’t bother to ask about my use case. I used to be an annual iPhone purchaser but the shine of a new device has become less important to me. So now I really think about the purchase. I’m probably not canceling my order, but the thought crossed my mind.

Year over year updates are going to be relatively minor but if you upgrade every 2-3 years, they add up.
Even the 2-3 year upgrades don’t feel great anymore. I’m on a 13 Mini and the only reason I want to upgrade is the battery life. Nothing else is pulling me in. Wondering if I should hold out for next year and carry a battery pack with me all the time just in case. Which is annoying but I could do if I really wanted to.

Will Apple not replace the battery?

In the comments to The Verge review people are complaining about the score. Seems to me the score is based on the phone itself, not how it compares to last years model or whatever. So the score of 8 is saying these are really good phones not are they that much better than last years phone (which was also really good). Seems to me we’re at the point where flagship phones should always get good scores because they’re all really good now.
