as it should.

if you want 256GB, simply select the option. not hard people.

why would you want Apple to set the higher tier price as the base and denying people the option of having a Pro phone with enough storage they need? oh because *you* think you know what's best for these people who don't need the extra space?
Obviously the base Amount of storage for a smartphone should be 4 TB minimum.

I thought native 4K spatial video would be a thing with the inclusion of the 48MP ultrawide sensor. I think this is my biggest disappointment. Actually, my biggest disappointment is that they kept that crazy gap between 24mm and 105mm. I knew that was coming though.

What's different about the Pro Max camera system that it requires 256GB instead?

The 128GB model is purely for show and tell. "We still offer a $999 model, even though nobody in the right mind will buy it."

They need to ditch the 128 GB models. On my phone, Snapchat, Chrome, and IG are all over 5 GB each. Amazon is over 1 GB.

I definitely wasn't wowed and one of the few times ever I think where I looked at the new phones and don't want one.

I was looking on the apple website and unfortunately they turned the 16 Pro into a heavy boat anchor again for this year. That's terrible, if anything they should have continued to make it lighter.

Upgrading to any currently sold iPhone would be a night and day difference with an iPhone 7.
Just played around with the 6s my son uses for listening to spotify, and really, the differences to a newer one are not great. A little tweaking here and there, higher resolution screen, higher resolution camera that still takes cheap phone photos, an additional mostly useless lens, UI of old iOS still feels as snappy as upates on newer ones feel...

All in all it's just a similar, thicker slab of glass now, that again looks more like the 4 or 5 than the 6 with a bigger camera hump and that has gained a button but lost an audio port. Apart from water resistance (which the 7 got) and no more software updates, I see very little reason to upgrade.

Sure there have been small tweaks every year, but they don't add up to a significantly different product.

I'd be surprised if most people will, despite of the new shutter button, use the old on-screen button for photos - just as hardly anybody uses the volume buttons to take a photo now.

I'm still not seeing any reason to upgrade from my 512gb 13 Pro Max, especially since Apple Intelligence isn't arriving for another 3 months in the UK and it'll probably need some of the kinks patched out even then, and AI isn't really a must have for me... oh well, I'll wait to see what the 17 has to offer.

Most of Apple's iPhone customers will do fine with 128GB storage.

If you actually *need* more storage simply add it to your order when purchasing your phone and pay for it. Easy.

We'll agree to disagree - As far as I'm concerned I'm taking absolutely stunning photos with my 14 Pro and I'm using all the Pro features I can. Just using a 13 Mini last year for an hour, I really couldn't take the shots I wanted.

I did follow a course though, and I'm using quite a lot of features that not a lot of people use :
  • Burst Shots (one of my favorite features these days)
  • I'm one who likes to use the Volume Button as the Shutter
  • I do play with my lens quite a lot when I want to add background compression
  • I turn on the grid to be able to use the rule of thirds
  • I use the level quite a lot to have a straight horizon

Think what most of you are missing is that for anyone else you would eventually increase storage and not increase price. You know because storage costs do get cheaper. I know you're all trained to bark twice and go more storage means more money but it's only a reality in Apple's world.

You do know iPhones have received RAM/Camera upgrades and the price didn't change right?

Look at the price of 128GB NVME Drive in 2020 compared to 2024. Apple is just making more profit each year they hang onto 128GB. Sorry they mass produce the chips and throw around buzz words it's still NAND storage.

I mean looking at the rest of the industry it usually costs more for smaller sizes eventually because they don't produce them anymore.

I expected the 1TB model to become the middle price this year and 2TB to be the price of the 1TB.

The 6s was a great iPhone for its time. But in my opinion it is a dinosaur by today’s technology and features. When I look back at my camera roll at those older pictures they are not even close to the quality of pictures from my 15PM. I would never try to convince someone to upgrade if they are happy with their current phone, but don’t try to tell me the old phone does what the new ones can do.

Here is a comparison between the 6s and 16PM:

What if they started at 64GB? 32GB? How low are you willing to accept?

I doubt they were ever going to use Quad-Level Cell QLC since it was noted that this storage is typically slower than the existing tech in the iPhone. You're probably not gonna be able to record 4K 120fps HDR or Apple ProRes to a slower storage medium. Was probably someone trying to short whatever company was making those QLC modules.

then $800 15 Pro 1TB "ebay refurbished" it is then ..

If they released the 2TB I would have holded on my 13PM for one more year and get the 16 at half the price when 17 came out.
